    Angel Escobedo @ Carmel Postponed!!!!!

The numbers are looking great. Portage has committed to being in the room. More to follow and we're thinking this is going to be crazy tough room of partners.

    Carmel RTC

Great room last night! We had over 75% of the room was ranked in the state. We'll be back at it next week.

    Carmel RTC

Carmel RTC is still rolling! We will be in the room tonight from 6:45-8:15. We will warm up, open drill for a bit and then wrestle a bunch of live! Room is still very competitve! Come by and battle with us
  4. Sunday Night we are hosting our first Celebrity Dual Meet at 6:00 in the Varstiy Gym at Carmel High School. The goal of our dual it to help raise money for our middle school guys going to Wabash camp, in a way that promotes the sport (does anyone like selling candles?). Admission to our duals is free, but we are asking for a $10 donation. We look forward to starting this tradition and are excited about what this can grow into in the future! Match 1: Jerrod Smith vs Sam Bublick Both Smith and Bublick are IHSAA State Qualifiers from our 2016 team and this is quite the matchup. Both grapplers are known for their ability to scramble so that category is a push. Smith brings a high cardio level to this match and Bublick brings a power situation that can give Smith fits. Odds makers are taking Bublick if it is a 90 second match, but the longer the match goes, the more momentum can move to Smith's advantage. Match 2: Gary Bacon vs Bill Kepler Bacon and Kepler are both Alumni of Wabash College and they also have incredible street cred around the streets of Crawfordsville from their presence there in the late 90's early 80's. This is an interesting matchup because Bacon has size on his favor, but Kepler might have more power. I'm sure both guys thumbs are sore from the group text trash talk that I have been fortunate enough to be included in. Odds makers have this match leaning towards Bacon, but Kepler isn't out of the equation because of all of the unknowns he brings to the table. Match 3: Aj Gunn vs Jake Shafer This match will be fun to watch with two of Carmel's better resume guys getting after it. Shafer had a collarbone issue this winter and is just getting back into his true form, while Gunn is a crafty opponent that is learning to score from different positions every day. Match 4: Jack Eiteljorge vs. Chad Welch Eiteljorge has improved lately and has been rumored to score his first takedown on "The Chad" last week. Chad contests this score and blames Doug for being a terrible ref. Can Jack score another one if front of people and Doug not being the ref? Match 5: Doug Welch vs Scott Hinkel Hinkel is the career pins leader for Purdue before he became head coach there from 2007-2015. Coach Hinkel actually recruited Doug to wrestle at Purdue. Coach Welch has one state titles and has NCAA wins over some of America's best, but can he get over the "Big Brother" syndrome and score on his first college mentor. Definitely should be match of the night!

    CUSAWC Celebrity Dual Meet tomorrow!

Dana White is the promoter for this and we looking into a Eddie P vs Eddie P match, but we couldn't get the either of our agents to agree on the terms. Apparently Palmer's camp wanted a mandatory day before weigh in and the Pendoski camp was asking to be spotted the points that Palmer won by in 1990. Dana White also looked into getting a Kenny Kaiser vs Pendoski match let everyone see the fanny kicking he gave me back in 1988. No one in Carmel has a VCR that plays beta film and I still deny the fact that he took me down 9 times in a match. Chad Shepard was also unavailable to kick my fanny again.

    Freestyle Qualifier

With Sparta dropping their tourney, Carmel will host a last chance qualifying tourney named "Last Chance Qualifier to Declare My Dad is Tougher Than Your Dad" or simply called LAQTDMDISTTYD. The winner of this tourney will win the honor of saying their dad must be tougher than their opponents because they won because only kids with tough dads can win. Entry fee is $10. We will weigh before our RTC at 6:30 and have matches after RTC. (RTC is still no charge if you are not entering LAQTDMDISTTYD). We will block kids into 3 man brackets and wrestle round robin matches. Please note that your dad does not have to be there to be declared tougher than your opponent's dad. 6:30 registration and matches will begin around 7:30. Contact Ed Pendoski if you have any questions. ependosk@ccs.k12.in.us

Congrats Coach Cook! Great grab for Hamilton County wrestling!

    Carmel RTC

.....anyone ever notice that you never see Luke Welch next to Doug Welch? We see The Chad next to Doug all the time. I'm starting to think that there is no such thing as Luke Welch, it's just Doug after he found a treadmill and got smaller.

    Carmel RTC

Tomorrow's RTC is looking to be another great one. Our clinician will be Scott Hinkel. Scott was longtime coach at Purdue as well as a monster maker at East Chicago back in the early 90's. Rumor on the street is that he also spread some magic in some room in Lafayette this past winter! Coach Hinkel is always great to be around. It's looking like the same group of hammers are going to be back in the room again. It's is a blast watching this group of guys train. 6:45-8:15 in the Blue Room!

    Carmel RTC

It was awesome last night! Thanks to Coach Davison for showing great stuff. He's still in my top 5 guys I like to watch teach wrestling! The live wrestling was awesome. 50+ guys in the room! Black, Mattingly getting whopped by Schroeder! Penola, Eiteljorge Webster, Allred, Davison, Davison rotating with Tyrell Todd, Jake Morrisey. Streck also put it on The Chad so bad that we had to give him a breaking board shirt!
  15. Ed Pendoski

    Carmel RTC

Rumor on the street is that Luke broke one morning after being called Little Welch and after a glorious battle, he knocked Doug's tooth out and then he slapped Chad so many times that he lost his equilibrium and shouldn't be allowed to drive now.

    Carmel RTC

Carmel RTC looking to like be most competitive we've had so far! Coach Davison from Chesterton is coming to teach for a bit and has a couple guys built just like him coming with him. Also know some of the Purdue room is also coming down for this one! I'm thinking The Chad might give up his first TD! Coach Todd and Devin Schroeder 3x Michigan state champ, flo national champ and Christian Brunner Ncaa qualifier, big ten placer
  17. CUSAWC is hosting this year's World Chamionships of the World Freestyle Duals on Saturday and Sunday. Duals start at 10:00 each day. Each tourney is a qualifier for freestyle state. Grades 7-12 Apparently the Russians had 10 guys miss the plane here, so they're looking for replacements in the following weights: 105 115 125 135 145 155 165 180 200 285 Email me (in English please) and let me know if you'd like to help fill a spot on the Russian team and what day. In the past years, each guys averages around 5-6 matches a day and we're done by 2. Ed Pendoski ependosk@ccs.k12.in.us 317.701.1512

CUSAWC World Championships of the World this Weekend

The Mongolians declined to make it at the last minute, I think it was too muddy to leave the country. Bigger question of the weekend is what was Noehre's attire at school today!

    Carmel RTC

We will be back at it this week for our RTC. This week's clinician will be Wabash coaching staff. Along with their staff, they are bringing quite a few of their guys to come wrestle with us. Should make a great room greater! 6:45-8:15 in the Blue Room

    Past USAW Triple Crown Winners

I agree that there are many 'national' tournaments across the country these days, but there is still only 1 World Championships of the World tournament. April 8th and 9th at CHS. Dreams will be made in the Carmel wrestling room as guys earn the right to declare themselves on the All-Earth team and only 1 team can earn the most coveted trophy on the planet.

    Wrestling and Math

Ok, on the thread about "Toughest Regional" the statement was asked, "What would be the result if only the top 3 from regional moved on to SS as in years past? Should we go back to top 3? We have a freshman named Suhas Chundi we like a lot and he's quite proficient in math! Last week I asked him to do a statistics problem for us. (Maligned, I can scan his work and send to you if you'd like to double check) I asked him to give us the probability of the top 4 guys getting out of semi state if they were randomly placed into regionals (knowing that if they were the top 4 in the semi state, there is no chance of them not getting out of the sectional). Assuming that there are no upsets, and that the #1 guy in semi state always beats #2, and 2 always beats 3 and three always beats 4, there is only a 40.6% chance that all 4 get out. Because of our blind draw without wrestlebacks from the quarters, the 4th best guy in the semi state will draw into 1-3 best guy 40.7% of the time and the 3rd best guy will draw into 1-2 best guy 19.75% I don't remember the exact year that we added the 4th place finisher from Regionals to semi state, but here is the results from New Castle this year (this is my math so this one could be off! ha!) 4th place wrestler lost to 1st place wrestler 94.6% (53 of 56) 4th place was pinned 66% of matches (37 of 56) Question #1: Is it necessary to have the 4th place finisher from the regional to semi state, if only 5.4% advance and 66% of matches were decided by fall?
