  1. I think anyone who knows you, or knows of you (in my case) knows that you have the sport's best interest at heart. Just want to say thanks and urge you to press on even in the face of some idiots who do not know when to hold their tongue. Also, congrats on the HOF coach. WAF!
  2. Seems to me the best bet on this entire list is Quentin Wright. I don't know what it is about that kid, but he seems to turn it way up when it counts. Not saying i think he'll win it, but with the odds hes getting it is probably worth a flier.
  3. This is why freshmen shouldn't be allowed to talk....
  4. Not really though... The only ones that come to mind, where it could have made a difference is at 113 and 195. If Brooks and Maurer go then IN wins one more match and is proabbaly more compentitive at 195. Forgot Richey...
  5. Don't forget that they have a larger pool of people to choose from. There are three times as many state placers in Illinois as there are in Indiana...
  6. What happened to the region wrestling all star match?
  7. Sounds like this isn't actually for a paper you are writing...
  8. Is that a requirement or just a preference?
  9. Lets not go down this road... I think everyone can agree that if this tournament does become well respected and generally viewed as determining the state champion that is only going to help the sport. Joe, as an ambassador of sorts, I think it would do a lot to help this tournament if you were fully behind it the way you are with class wrestling. Whether people like you or not does not change the fact that you have created this site/forum and your opinion and influences carry a lot of weight.
  10. Assuming he was allowed to weigh in at 120 I think he's second best, behind only petrov.
  11. Tsirtsis Brooks Petrov Jackson Micic Ayersman Sliga Todd Campbell Boston
  12. I think that depends on how well YOU sell it to your school administration and community...
  13. Honestly, that would probably be more difficult for a school like Garrett because you are competing with schools MUCH larger than yous. I don't think anyone is talking about parades or special cases. The idea is if you can get the school excited, and get the cheerleaders or boosters to put up signs around the school celebrating the accomplishment, you probably have a better chance of increasing participation and growing the sport. If the students celebrate it, then in generates excitement and encourages participation.
  14. So if Garrett were to win an IHSWCA State Championship and provided a trophy (which I assume they will), you do not think that the school would display it or celebrate it?
  15. Maybe my Sarcasm-O-Meter is a little off today, but it does not seem like you are being facetious here... If the wrestlers treat it as a state championship, then I believe the student body will too. If the IHSWCA gives out plaques or trophies to the winning/placing teams, then I would be willing to bet that the schools will display them. I still believe it is all about perception.
  16. Just a quick point of clarification, will the IHSAA still award a team state champion at the individual state meet? I don't think I saw that anywhere. My feeling is that the wrestling community can have a great influence over how the schools and fans view the team state champion if this tournament is done the right way. If the wrestling community truely celebrates the winners of this tournament as the state champion then perception will become reality.
  17. That is not the question though... The question is unclassed team dual state champ recorgized by the IHSAA, or Classed dual state champs recoginzed by the IHSWCA
  18. Just curious... For all of the people who were in favor of classed team state, are you glad that the ihsaa got rid of the current format so that the ihswca could implement the format that we are using next year? I realize the perfect solution for you would be an ihsaa sponsored classed team state, but given the options we have now, which do you prefer and why? What is more important, having classes or being affiliated/recognized by the ihsaa?
  19. I know that this was WAYYYYYYY OVER THE TOP AWFUL. That said, I actually think this is a great program for students to participate in. Most of them have done their homework and are at least competent. Not that anything said here will have any bearing on the status of these broadcasts, but lets be happy that we have these matches on TV. I, for one, love DVRing all of them and watching 8-10 duals a year, the big 10 championships, and several rounds of NCAA Championships (on ESPN). We have come a long way. Also wanted to say that the video was HILARIOUS!!!! I think Mackintosh just got another reversal!
  20. I think he is trying to only use each wrestler once... since he has alex at 140, he can't be at 119.
  21. Name is Josh Coons... I know your brother fairly well actually
  22. I believe these were all injury defaults during the state tournament series. I know for sure he had two injury defaults at semi state to take 4th that year because he met Buhman (sp) from Portage in the first round of state. Buhman was probably the second best wrestler at 215 in the state that year.
  23. Who says Cleveland doesn't take top? Either way, o'brien was the best 215 pounder in the last decade for sure and I don't remember many probably the best Indiana has seen.
