  1. What if those of us who support that idea volunteer and do what we can to help make sure this succeeds, you know, take that extra step beyond sitting at a keyboard and hypothesizing.
  2. Thanks for the great breakdown coach. While I would personally still love to see us go classed like Ohio and Illinois are (maybe Michigan, but I'm not familiar with them), a classed IHSWCA team event would still be a good compromise. Are the thoughts to hold it the same weekend at 1 venue or split it up?
  3. Better yet just have the numbers 1 through 10 and have a blind draw! I'm glad 220 and 195 are options now, but it seems strange to squish things together in the middle where it's already the most competitive. Overall I definitely think it's a move in the right direction. Will this have any bearing down the line on collegiate weight classes?
  4. I wish he looked that healthy during Nationals, I'll bet he does too.
  5. I've always liked the style that Lowell wrestles, I remember we wrestled them for team regional in 2000 and only won 2 matches. Marcus Schontube has to be one of the most technical leg riders I've seen as a big guy, and he was huge.
  6. Must have gotten some good foundations in elementary and high school too, right?
  7. Congrats to Cam, a great season topped with a great honor. http://www.d3wrestle.com/?p=3986

  9. That makes a lot more sense now, thanks for the insight.
  10. Better money teaching than coaching at the college level? That would be a shock, I made next to nothing when I taught and my health benefits were deducted. This certainly is a great help to Portage. Any word on whether or not all the CCSJ wrestlers will stay or who's in the running for the next coaching position?
  11. I think this is more of a congrats to Portage than Coach Vega. Anyone know why he made the move down to high school? Less stress? Teaching? More passion for building at the high school level?
  12. Wow, Indiana looks strong from 103-140, at least one guy ranked in each weight class except 130.
  13. After their successes in FloNationals and Senior Nationals there should be some more respect for Hoosier wrestlers in the next rankings. Hopefully we keep getting people to go to the national events instead of staying local. Lots of great tourneys in Ohio to go to as well.
  14. With the national success Raley has had I'm a little surprised he's 17th, wasn't he higher ranked before?
  15. It was a fantastic program, I had guys from Mishawaka telling me Al Smith always talked about it. Too bad it got killed. If my wife and I could get jobs back there I would move back in a heartbeat and get it going again, teach all those "cheap tilts" again. I saw a lot of them at Nationals.
  16. Burroughs hasn't just been winning, he's been just manhandling guys, I'm a little worried that kind of momentum will be hard for Howe to shut down.
  17. Vega winning his titles, but watching the Tsirtsis family dominance over the past few years has been fun as well. John Sheets winning his title as a freshman and the excitement both he and Faurote shared was fantastic.
  18. 2 got left off from Manchester, they've had 22 total Aaron Buzbee 1992 Josh Hardman 1997, 1998
  19. My dad wrestled for Bellmont for a couple years until he had to quit all sports to get a job and help support the family. He wrestled in college his freshman year and pinned a Michigan state champ in the wrestle off, but had to quit to keep his grades up and work enough to afford to stay. He coached high school and started a big youth program, going with him to Saturday meets and duals when I was as young as 2 or 3 got me hooked early and I loved every minute of it.
  20. Thanks for all the info. I had no idea SIUE was so big.
  21. I had gone to their website and couldn't find a description. Thanks! So could this be an in for club programs at colleges?
  22. I would have preferred he finish high school, but the movie definitely looks good. Somewhat of a Vision Quest but with a dopey coach instead of the well dressed coach.
  23. Congrats! On a side note, what exactly is the NCWA? Is it similar to NAIA, just an alternative to the NCAA?
