McCubbins was a double Jr National Champ, a Jr World Team member, one of the early resident Greco athletes at the Olympic Training Center. He's also a close personal friend with Y2.

    A couple thoughts.

1st -  He. His name is Mack, referring to him as she or her or worst of all "s/he" is just disrespectful.

2nd - I'm not sure it really matters whether or not he officially put in a petition to wrestle with the boys or not. He has stated he would rather wrestle with the boys but there is a rule against it. He is following the rules as they are written. The issue should be with the rule not with the kid that is following them.

3rd - It is not the place of a state athletic asocciation to decide what medication is "medically necessary", and it is definitely not the place for somebody on a message board to decide.  There are a lot of reasons that people choose to transition, but none of them have anything to do with wanting to win a girls state title. To say that he shouldn't be allowed to compete because he is taking hormone therapy, which is prescribed by a doctor, is insane. Forcing a transgender athlete to choose between living in a body that fits their mind or competeing in a sport they love is just plain cruel.

4th - I have a feeling texas will be taking a look at their rules after all of this and I hope that other states with similar rules do the same.  These rules need to be changed.

And it's the top man's job to turn. If either isn't doing his job, it's stalling.

There's nothing more boring than watching a parallel ride for 2 minutes while the whistle is stuck down the official's throat. I commend Hughes and Jason Tsirtsis for mastering the game, but man it's not my favorite version of the sport to watch if it's just guys I'm watching in hopes of a good match.

Yorktown has been front and center with their recruiting and "transfer" issues, funny you should throw shade on other schools. Not sure why you would "harbor resentment" toward other schools.

Those that live in glass houses should not throw stones. You might try a new tactic...building a program on recruiting, then accusing other schools of the same did not seem to gather any traction.

As far as hype and crowd energy goes I'd have to say the MD/Evansville Central dual in the 92-93 season (I'm not positive on the year) at MD. The place was packed rabid fans on both sides and no love lost between the programs at the time. It was an electric environment going into that match, a fun time to be a little JV kid who got to wrestle infront of a full house. Another classic was the 94 Indiana's Best when MD squeeked by Belmont. I think it's safe to say that MD has had some barn burners over the years, it's amazing that Coaches Goebel and Helfrich are still breathing today after all they've been through.

I also like how you're stepping up your game with the increased usage of CAPS in addition to your #hashtag usage. Those are GOALS I can believe in, Brother,

Does wrestling teach life lessons? Absolutely? Does participating in another sport, speech/debate, drama, journalism/yearbook, etc. teach life lessons? Absolutely. All i'm saying is each individual is different and if they choose to stop wrestling it's their choice. Should a coach try and retain them, yes. Should a coach pressure them into something they don't want to do? Nope.

Seems as you have walked the walk personally and also have had a son walk away. That kinda makes you an expert and I can respect that. In no way is a kid that walks away "weak". Are they worse off?.... depends on the kid I guess. If a kid has another path in mind and the guidance at home that he needs to make a wise choice, then by all means maybe you let go a little sooner and allow them to go without too much effort to retain them.

The topic was "what to say to a kid". After all of this input, I think the best answer is this... it depends on the kid. But as coaches we should lay it out there and give each kid options, if they need them. I guess my advice was simply... do not live with regrets. That's the way I live my life now and, it is pretty good.

I've told our kids to follow their dreams and to pour their hearts into something THEY enjoy, not the parents and/or coaches. While I agree wrestling teaches many life lessons that will be valuable moving forward, pushing someone to participate in something they don't enjoy is pointless.

I would say that I expect better from most of you but I have been reading posts from most of you for the past 3 or so years and have come to expect the stupidity that some of you have posted.....I know the lady very well that has put this magazine together for the past several years and she would NEVER (and I can't underline or bold that word enough) leave anyone out on purpose.

Look back at the numerous threads on this forum about posting results in error and mistakes made on the rankings submitted..................hey guess what, sometimes people (really nice people working for free) make honest mistakes.  Get over it and move on.  You all have great kids and they have accomplished great things so just be proud of those and know that everyone else knows what they have accomplished no matter if it accidentally gets left out of the ISWA book.

If you are looking for someone to pick on then move on to Joe for not coming down to #TheCounty to view the greatest dual with expert coaching moves that brought the score to favor the #Dogs........that's the real criminal in this whole thing !!!!

I think the word legacy is being treated as the same as accomplishments when it's something much bigger than that. I think Nick Lee is a legend and one of the best wrestlers to ever come from Indiana and his lack of multiple times won't change that.

The team may not be as strong as we need in order to win the tournament....but we are definitely going out to make our mark and we are moving in right the direction as a state for this tournament (however painfully slow).  The individuals we are taking are going to benefit the most as we will put together a good run, and every wrestler who makes this trip will come back with a new appreciation for our sport and outlook on their career.  We will also be attending a clinic by Alex Dieringer and Bryce Saddoris on Tuesday.

MD92 reacted to indyt in Team Indiana and moratorium
I really hesitate from getting on here due to the true lack of knowledge by people and the perceptions that become realities because certain posters say it to be true. Bottom line. No rules are broken if team Indiana has it's camp over moratorium. Not even SKIRTED which has become the big word on here when people can't find a rule to be broken and they have to have some ammunition. There will be kids from Indiana playing travel baseball, going to All Star basketball camps, going to football camps and playing every sport including Lacrosse. No rules broken. The only issue would be if a high school coach actually coaches his kid at camp. So before this becomes 16 pages of blasting everyone who cheats to win, or is inconsiderate of the athletes, or skirts(I love that word) the rules, those are the facts straight from Robert this AM. Now will kids miss due to it being moratorium. Sure. If my kid decides to go he will miss it due to vacation. But I also understand that due to a strange calendar year and Fargo being moved up the camp dates are conflicting no matter how you set it up.

yep, public hanging in Jeff, that 4th grader is a stud, we couldn't be the club we are without cheating.  I especially love bashing volunteers.  When I can cheat and bash some volutneers from behind a computer screen I feel better about myself.  some people on here probably feel amazing by that standard!  I am gonna start a diapers division and see if I can slip past the volunteers trying to keep things even for kids. Or......  even better, I won't do anything.  I won't do anything to help anyone at all.  I will sit behind a computer screen and talk.  And then when others go do things I will bash them and be little them and make them wish they didn't help.  Ill make them feel so bad that they quit helping and then ill just go to all those tourneys we have in Indiana without ISWA sanction cause I hear there are tons of them.  I'm just glad there is a watch dog for all the ISWA board members that get this amazing kick back from the entry fees.  I mean that must be what they are doing right?  they get kick back cause 90% of them don't have kids wrestling, so they must be doing it for the money.  Wait, maybe they do it just to screw a few people over that aren't even at state.  just ones that watch to see if others make mistakes.  its nice being perfect to be able to do that.  What's even better is doing nothing and just making fun of others.  I gotta go, there has to be another conspiracy.  I heard that I could win my golf scramble this weekend if I just put in some more elementary kids.

I wonder if it surprises anyone that most the volunteers don't read this board, I got 4 phone calls today alone just letting me know that people are still talking about this major world scandal. I bit, and read it again.  Stupid me, now I am lowering myself to responding.  One of my favorite quotes on here usually is "we gave suggestions on here but nobody listened" -  of course they didn't they were already turned off by you, your screen name, or associates of you that bash that volunteer.

thank you for everyone that makes me laugh! its a good life.

How does it appear that not all kids had to follow the two qualifier rule?  The closest thing to proof that I have seen is Joe claiming that a mystery 4th grader from Jeffersonville got to wrestle.  I don't see how making claims about the integrity of of volunteers with zero proof is any good for anyone.

Joe I can only assume we are going to see you and your list of "issues" at the next meeting right ?...... Come on down and spend the afternoon with some of the people that you are upset with who are trying to help out the kids of Indiana Wrestling.
Respond however you wish but as long as you do not make any type of concerted effort to "help" the situation and only try to throw jabs and daggers at people then you are only hurting the situation.
Please take your valuable time like all the rest of us do and come to a meeting and lay out your grand plan to increase the numbers and help the kids of Indiana better than is currently being attempted.
I believe someone said it best above and it seems like all you want to do is sit back and just complain and drag people thru the mud without any type of help or assistance being offered.
So See you on June 26 at 12p sharp sir ????? and if you need help carrying in all of your information gathered just let one of us know and I will come right out to help.

While I understand rules need to be followed and if you're going to have a two tournament qualification it should be enforced but listen to yourself for a minute.  You're almost on a witch hunt by questioning if one 4th grader didn't wrestle at two tournaments.

This is more general but I sort of think we've shifted the focus off of what's best for kids. If people really want to make change the ISWA is a volunteer organization.  Volunteer.  It's so easy to sit back on a forum and call people out and bring up potential solutions.  If you're really focused on what's best for the state of freestyle wrestling in Indiana as well as the kids you should get involved.
