Galagore reacted to Chris Cooper in Injury times are out of control
Well this topic went a bit sideways.
The intent of my original post and topic was that we as coaches have a responsibility to see that injury time isn't abused. There is a difference between an injury and using the injury timeout to collect your thoughts, breath, escape a situation, etc.
If we as a wrestling community are ok with using injury timeout as a strategy, well then my friends, we are no better than basketball and that's a direction I would rather not take.
Also, single class wrestling sucks, there, that should get this topic headed in the right direction...

Galagore got a reaction from Thor in Qualifier parent tickets?
I would save 5 rows of seats for two hours or find another location and smile, wave at someone attempting to save seats for two hours if it meant we could go back to buying paper tickets with cash at the ticket booths.

Someone needs to change the title of this thread. My naive self keeps biting on the new posts thinking, "This time they're going to tell me how to get tickets to state at the Ford Center..."

It's always been that way, why change it now? It's a part of our history and the lore of wrestling. If we change it we will never have the topics such as the worst ticket round matches. No one here is smart enough to figure out cross bracket consolations with potential "blood round" matches.
It's the most exciting round, if we change to wrestle-backs then it's just a normal boring round of wrestling. I probably wouldn't even go to semi-state if they had wrestle-backs.
Just work harder and be the bad draw.
Life isn't fair, sometimes you're the hammer, sometimes you're the nail. Deal with it.

Class wrestling > wrestlebacks

What people fail to realize when discussing bad ticket round matchups is that this is how we class wrestling and benefit small schools. With the current setup, it's a lot easier for a kid to pull one upset, or get one good draw, and make it to state. The odds of that kid going to state go way down if he pulls that upset or advances with a good draw, loses in the semis, and then has Tommy Gibbs in the new blood round.

Galagore got a reaction from ghughes1974 in Class Wrestling Question
If this whole "just work hard and you can do it" attitude is valid for all schools, regardless of size, some people from some of these elite programs should start branching off to help grow and enhance the sport.
Supposedly we all care about the sport...put your money where your mouth is and come make a difference. Can you imagine how one would be lauded for taking a program like Culver Community and turning them into a school that consistently produces medals at the state tournament? First ballot hall of fame for sure. So...please come and show us.
This is not a sarcastic post. This is a genuine request/challenge from a guy who loves wrestling, loves his school, and has two sons who he wants to see have as much love for and success in the sport of wrestling as possible.

Excellent point. If one thinks this kind of discrepancy is unfair, I have no idea how the same person could be against class wrestling.

It's all about geography. Not saying that their geographical formula always makes sense - it often does not. However, their logic is, has been, and always will be based on geography.

As I said, their decisions do not always make sense. However, the party line from their end is making geographic equity, not competitive equity.
