  1. At the Valparaiso Duals today in the 182 weight class Tim Schoonveld of Kankakee Valley HS handled with ease #7 Ranked Ben Elliot of Noblevilles beating 10-3
  2. Wordlaw is not wrestling this year according to a close family member. I would love to see this talented young man wrestle this year. Hopefully someone can talk him into coming out.

  5. 195 Schoonveld of KV places higher than Derrrick Suttles of Valpo does anyone know who won between these two in the dual on Friday? Schoonveld of KV won the match on Friday Night and was in control the whole match. Score ended up 4-2. Schoonveld took him down in the 1st period. Suttles took down got a escape in the later part of the 2nd period and in the 3rd period Schoonveld took down and got a quick reversal and Suttles got a escape with just a couple seconds left, I believe Schoonveld just let him go. Pretty sure this is how it went down. Suttles is a solid wrestler and I see him getting better and better each day with Coach Line in the wrestling room this year. I was very impressed with Schoonveld's performance and he will be a guy to watch for this year. The guy has a fuel tank that won't go empty.
  6. Munster Site: Kankakee Valley Won The Duals Here Going 3-0 Kankakee Valley beat Munster 56-21 Kankakee Valley beat Valparaiso 31-30 Kankakee Valley beat Hobart 74-6

    Slamming

I witnessed a slam at the Rensselaer Duals a couple of weeks ago. This happened at the 132 weight class and was between Rensselaer Central and River Forest. I was very disapointed to see a senior wrestler from River Forest slam the Rensselaer kid who's a freshman but was way over matched in the first place and was getting beat pretty badly when the River Forest kid decided on slamming him in the 3rd period. The thing that was most disappointing about this was how the coaches from River Forest reacted when this match had to be stopped because the Rensselaer kid had a concussion. These coaches threw a complete fit because the match was stopped and the Rensselaer kid won. Well this happened 2 weeks ago and for the River Forest coaching staff knowledge this kid is still out and not wrestling and most likely will be out for another 2 to 3 weeks if he even is released from the doctor because he is still suffering from headaches. All I would like to say is show some class and respect and with your young man being a senior he should understand what the possible outcome could be if he slams another wrestler, if not now he will. Good luck to all!

  10. Rensselaer Central: 16 Total Wrestlers on the Team. 50% (8 Total Football Players) Best of Luck with gathering your information and hope everyone has a GREAT SEASON! Good Luck To All! BB
  11. Do you have the overall standings posted anywhere? If not could you post a link to it? Thank you!
  12. I agree as well. Overall they did a great job. I appreciate the time they take out of their busy schedules to do this sometimes unrewarding job. I am usually 98% in agreedence with their calls. for me pointing out the 220 match I just thought the MC wrestler got a bad break. But if you allow any match to be as close as what this match was sometimes the official good or bad can decide the winner for us. Always build a safe lead when you can and this kind of stuff won't happen! Keep up the good work officials!
  13. How do you know they don't???? You must know everyone that post stuff on here.
  14. One of the worse calls I saw yesterday was at the 220 pound ticket round match. I felt bad for the McCutcheon wrestler (Kult) I believe is his name. The score was 1-1 with 40 seconds left in the match and was called for his 1st stalling while having a pushing match with the Merrillville wrestler. Agree but both should have been called for stalling but unfortunately the McCutcheon wrestler got the raw end of the deal. Okay knowing this the McCutcheon wrestler became very aggressive and took 3 shots while the Merrillville wrestler kept backing up the whole time while not taking any shots and being on the defense but you probably know what's coming the McCutcheon kids gets called for stalling again with about 13 seconds left in the match. So now the score was 2-1 and the McCutcheon wrestler shot 2 more times and Again the Merrillville wrestler kept backing away. The match ended 2-1. I don't know either of these young men but felt really bad for the McCutcheon wrestler who was on the offense and did what he was suppose to do but ends up getting screwed. Did anyone else see this?
  15. Thanks for sharing and what a wonderful and touching post! I totally understand and sometimes we find out the hard way who the real champions are. I wish you and your family all the BEST!
  16. I will give the late Joe Burvan of Rensselaer Central some props on this topic. He may not of been a coach with many state qualifiers, championships and such but I can tell you he had a heart of a champion and dedicated his life to this sport. He for the most part taught life lessons on and off the mat and anybody that knew or ever wrestled for him would tell you the same thing. He ran very hard and difficult practices but wanted each wrestler to be the best they could be. He was a very disciplined coach and many new wrestling for Rensselaer Central you weren't just wrestling for the school you were wrestling for Joe Burvan. He took great pride in his wrestlers and program! He touched many lives in Northwest Indiana and helped young boys who had a tendency to find themselves into trouble and not having much going for themselves turn thier lives around and become respectible young men. I feel we have many coaches out there like Coach Joe Burvan and hope we aren't forgetting these coaches because its not all about championships & titles its about having a coach who cares and wants thier wrestlers to be the best they can be on and off the mat. This is what I believe a GREAT COACH is all about! Also its not to often in the Hoosier State of Indiana your High School Gymnasium is named after a High School Wrestling Coach like at Rensselaer Central
  17. I would like to wish all the best this weekend to all wrestlers & coaches here competing for a Sectional Title. A lot of excellent wrestlers and exciting match ups are in store to watch. If you do not have anything to do this weekend I recommend coming out and supporting this great sport of wrestling while rooting on your favorite team and individuals. I can tell you these wrestlers and coaches would really appreciate your support because a lot of hard work and dedication has been put forth throughout the year all for this excellent event. Take care and we will see everyone on Saturday. Wrestling Starts at 9:00am EST.
  18. Congrats to the West Central Wrestling Team on your Confrence Title! Also Congrats goes out to Coach Kenny Nielson on all of his hardwork and dedication to this great sport of wrestling. Keep Up the Good Work!

  20. It's called pure laziness from kids now a days. Kids would rather go home and play with the latest and greatest technology that mommy and daddy buys for them. I believe this is the root problem in today's society. This is tough what would like to do? Go to practice everyday and bust your butt and accomplish something in your high school career or go home and eat ice cream sandwiches and drink all the soda you want and play xbox all night long (good gig). Its sad but I think kids are picking the xbox over sports and that is what I see why some programs are suffering. ???
  21. Just wondering if this match was recorded and put on the internet to watch? If so could you please post the link. Thank you in advance!
