  1. Congrats to Cayden and the rest of the Rooks family. Cayden put together a terrific season and is a great kid, no shame in losing to him. The Columbus East program, in general, has put together an elite core of kids who are among the states most talented. Sorry, you weren't entertained... how did your kid do this weekend? I know mine is now a 2 time runner-up and a 3x placer and I'm pretty damn proud.
  2. Brownsburg with 12 heading to the Ford Center...
  3. If you want to jump ahead to a pre-state 2008 board, enjoy this one... http://web.archive.org/web/20080213182643/http://www.indianawrestler.com/phpBB2/ The best topic is under the Youth Wrestling Discussion - "Bantam State Predictions". I can only imagine it is full of posts from a certain school in #TheCounty introducing the state to #bantamguns
  4. I'm in the same situation... I could use 2-3 suite tickets as well. I have called around, but not much luck. Budkus37 gets first dibs as he posted first.
  5. Ha... never! I meant the coach needed to get a butt whoopin' to teach him a lesson about how stupid of an act it was. I'm not sure who that kid was, but I remember he was a begging to wrestle. They iced his knee up, but he could barely walk... a horrible situation all around.
  6. Agreed... 24 years ago, it was an a$$ whippin' that would teach a lesson. Today, it's all about feelings and not getting punched in the face.
  7. Back when I flopped around on the mat for a certain HS in #TheCounty (not named Brownsburg), we were wrestling at the '93 or '94 Mid-State Conference meet in Mooresville. A head coach (from a school where a really big IndyCar Racetrack exists) had his son wrestling in the championship and lost on a last second score. The coach got so mad that he picked up his coaches folding chair and threw it as far as he could across the gym, ala Bobby Knight on steroids. As I watched the chair fly over my head it landed on a poor wrestler who was taking a nap in the bleachers and had to injury default his final match. Luckily, a couple of Dad's escorted the coach outside until the cops came. Never sure what happened to him, but he wasn't around for the rest of that season.
  8. Actually, these aren't team points, they are hype points based upon Seymour starting the thread first as #TheCounty underdog. Don't worry, Avon is currently in a close 2nd with 9 points and should take the lead in the morning when #TheCountyTMZ™©® announces their predictions with all the overlooked Avon kids.
  9. Here are the results for Brownsburg: Brownsburg - 59 Delta - 4 Brownsburg - 59 Adams Central - 13 Brownsburg - 57 Bloomington South - 12 Brownsburg - 54 Bellmont - 15 Brownsburg - 75 Mishawaka - 0 We still had some walking wounded, but had some JV guys step up and wrestled great.
  10. Wow... you must know something I don't. Ty would have made weight just fine, like he has done for "every" single other tournament in his life. Unfortunately, Ty was not cleared by our doctor to wrestle on Monday due to a non-illness related injury that occurred at Team State. He'll be back in a few days... no worries. Of course, if you have the balls, which I suspect you don't, you should introduce yourself tomorrow.
  11. We have no issues with the seeds or how this process is handled, Coach Brobst gave a very detailed explanation of what happened. At the end of the day, the score of each match starts 0-0 regardless of their seed or ranking. There are a lot of talented kids in the 120 bracket and the winner will have to be at the top of their game to win. Thankfully, we don't have the complaining going on about the Al Smith seeding... geez, let's go wrestle and let the best that day come out as the champion.
  12. Congrats Colton, it's been fun spending time with your family and watching you be so dominant on the mat! We hope nothing but the best for you... great kid from a great family!
  13. Congrats to Breyden... we have many memories of him beating the tar out of Ty back when they were Bantams. That should make a pretty good Indiana 1-2 punch with Hudkins at 125 for the Huskies.
  14. What a great camp to attend on a Sunday during the preseason with so many of the top wrestlers in the state participating. Coach Ward was great guy with solid technique and left a very positive impression on my son. He's building a program and doing it with several of Indiana's top kids. Coach McCormick also had some great insight for the wrestlers and parents that hung around. It's easy to see why Yorktown has had such an impressive run under his tenure. Thanks to all those coaches who continue to allow our state to get exposure to these D1 programs.
  15. From a parent who is actually in the middle of all of this, here is our experiences. NHSCA - After Ty's matches, we had numerous coaches come introduce themselves and ask for some information. This included 2 D1 coaches, 1 D2 coach and honestly several who I'm embarrassed to say I didn't know. One of those actually stepped into our corner and attempted to argue a call during one of our matches. I'll remain nameless, as that is probably some type of violation. JazzTown - A D1 coach contacted Snyder about his interest in Ty and relayed some information. Camps - We have attended camps with several D1 Big10 coaches in attendance, there is mutual interest that we'll explore this fall. Junior National Freestyle Duals - Zero interest... with all the talk about this and that with freestyle, Ty went 7-1 as a Cadet wrestling in the Junior Duals last year and didn't get a sniff. His loss was a 14-8 decision to Intermat's #11. It's funny that those who claim all the college coaches in attendance at this event couldn't get a kid sniffed that was ranked 6th in the country by Flowrestling at the time. I guess the college coaches were more concerned about the teams in the Gold bracket than Indiana's team OR it's just a lot of talk. JazzTown was a much bigger hit for us on a fraction of the budget last year. My lesson learned... I can attend 4-5 national events plus camps and get more recognition on the same budget it takes to attend Fargo and/or Cadet/Junior Nationals. The trip fees are ridiculous, we travel much cheaper. If you have success at these national tournaments, results will speak for themselves.
  16. I think your southern twang is getting in the way of your spelling, unless Walbash is a new college located in the city of Crawlfordsville! I have always been a fan of the Wabash program in Crawfordsville! #BetterSpelling
  17. Ty won't be there as well... He caught a cold from his sisters they had last week. He'll be ready for next weekend at VA Beach!
  18. There is a very select few that are allowed to use this hashtag and the proper use of it should be monitored closely. Nothing like getting stuck on your back and having a cat run across your face or taking a shot and tripping over another cat. Other than that, the biggest crisis we had to worry about in those days was losing the scissors to open the freezer pops or making sure we had propane for the heater. It is amazing to see the transformation from the garage practices to the newly opened building and the room full of parents who had that same nervous stare I had when talking about attending our first ISWA state event. Kudos to Ryan who believed in so many of these little kids years ago and who are now they proving all the naysayers wrong. Proud to be #CWAOG...
  19. Huge congrats to Asa and his family from Team Mills!!!. It was a well deserved championship after putting his family through so many overtime wins throughout the tourney. I think he had like 2-3 overtime matches in the state tournament. I have to think of Gable's quote "Once you have wrestled, everything else in life is easy". That certainly applies to this season for Asa... He came up clutch when it mattered and goes home with the championship!
  20. What a great find, although it does tend to publicize who the nerds are on the board! It's awesome to see one of the countries brightest scientists correlating astrophysics to wrestling! I had no idea he was a wrestler until doing a little more research on this and found out he was the HS captain of his team and wrestled at Harvard. I always thought highly of Neil, but now I'm sold! #DoubleTidalLock
  21. What a great quote, it made me chuckle! We wish the nothing but the best for Drew and his sister...
