  1. I'm a FW guy but the Fort Wayne Semi-State is getting shut out this year.
  2. http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/251734-Wrestling-News-and-Updates/article/35436-Indiana-Brothers-Commit
  3. Focusing on the international styles? Less folkstyle, more freestyle, greco, etc?
  4. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't it still illegal to transfer for athletic reasons?
  5. 10 pts between Churubusco and a team like Tecumseh and Eastern Hancock seems pretty significant and not virtually identical. But I get it, ignoring scores gives coaches the freedom to vote in who they want.
  6. Attica and Churubusco jump Tecumseh, Eastern Hancock and Winchester in 1A. Columbia City jumps Northwood in 2A. HSE jumps Valpo in 3A.
  7. Yep, you're right. Don't know where I saw the #20.
  8. On the frontpage of Flowrestling. Also the #1 ranked 126 wrestler and entered their final P4P rankings at #20.
  9. So one tournament makes this rule a success? You can't be certain the only reason for high attendance was this new rule.
  10. This may be the best idea if the ISWA is set on making kids qualify for state. You have to qualify through one of the 4 regionals to get to state. That only takes up one weekend instead of two, plus almost guarantees some matches vs. no one showing up to a local tournament. Also, it will help people with travel. A good enough kid won't be motivated by seeding, but a kid who is not as good might wrestle in more local tournaments to try and increase his chances of getting a high seed? Personally, I don't have a problem with any kid signing up to wrestle at state without any qualifiers. I understand why they made this decision, I just don't think it was the correct one. I don't think in a couple of years you will see more local tournaments and better attended local tournaments. I think you will see our state tournament on its deathbed with about the same level of participation at local tournaments.
  11. When the Flo guys were doing their end of season (awards, wrap-up, analysis, etc.) podcast, Coach Ersland's name came up in the discussion for Coach of the Year. I guess no one knows wrestling except Hinkel supporters. Again, I have no dog in the fight, but this is getting ridiculous.
  12. No doubt. Great that he's thriving in the classroom. I just don't understand how a kid like Gabe Dean can be so much better than Sliga at this point when two years ago, they were basically a similar type of recruit.
  13. Maybe Hinkel's recruiting is to blame. Hinkel failed to recruit high profile kids, maybe that's the problem.
  14. So now we are using data to decide whether the Boilers are wrestling better? I don't have any allegiances to a coach, but from my own eyes, they are wrestling better. Your argument is that the Welches came back? But this years team doesn't have Cashe. So who cares.
  15. 113: #9 Pepple 126: #1 Red 132: #6 Lee 138: #16 James 138: #19 Cash 152: #14 Forte 160: #11 Hughes 195: #6 Rypel 220: #17 Woods 285: #9 Streck 285: #20 Oglesby
  16. That doesn't mean they should class. Those states should be single class. Make sure we give everyone a participation ribbon. Everyone gets to state!!!! Let's call everyone a state qualifier!!!
  17. So classing wrestling could.....maybe.....might......probably will help small school athletes. Not seeing a lot of actual evidence to sway me in that direction. There are a lot of other states that should probably have class wrestling due to the size. Florida has 20 million people, Illinois has 13 million people, Pennsylvania has 12.5 million people, Ohio has 11 million people, Michigan 10 million people. Indiana has a lot less than that. Like someone said above. Use EMD's statistics with the small schools to properly state your case. Teams like Bellmont, Yorktown, EMD, Jimtown seem to do okay every year. They even manage really good football teams most years. How do their kids find time to be good in both? Maybe they have really good coaching.
  18. Wow the author of this article is an awful human? I guess my definition of an awful human being is slightly different than yours.
  19. If you were insulted by this article, you are too sensitive. Remember to sugar-coat everything. Everyone is a winner. Participation ribbons for all.
  20. Even going down one weight class usually doesn't put a kid at risk. Cutting down multiple weight classes is not smart and shame on any coach for letting it happen in order to fill a lineup. It's short-sighted. Looking out for the safety of the kid should be a priority. How many coaches out there are "doctoring" their bad fat and hydration tests to manipulate the lowest possible weight class for their wrestlers. I know it's happening.
  21. I agree, but that means there was a poor job of recruiting if there aren't any viable options in a room besides redshirts.
  22. Cutting weight is one of the dumbest parts about this sport. I'm not talking about a kid who drops weight naturally by working out and eating right. Cutting weight, depleting your energy, and dehydrating your body is ludicrous. It's one of the reason kids burnout. Let your kid wrestle at his natural weight. The myth that you need to go down in weight to be successful is ridiculous.
  23. There is no excuse for a Big 10 (or Big 14) team to have forfeits.
  24. One of the most exciting matches I've ever seen. Petrov vs. Campbell. James would be near the the top of the list. Dolly was a beast. Still can't believe Randy Baker never won. Corsaro 3x runner up...wow. Shocked he lost last year.
