  2. Did you know that it takes 180 btu's to raise 1 pound of water from 32degree water to 212 degree water, but it takes 970 btu's of heat to turn 1 pound of 212 degree water into steam? That is why steam burns worse then water. It has way more heat in it.
  3. i wouldve said that if you didnt, i love those things, wahoo(i had to wash my hands before posting this to prevent the orangeness) Well, if I cant talk my wife into running through Anderson for a pizza on our way back to Indy after the NC Ss tomorrow, I will be eating some of those for valentines dinner. Whoa there Big Spender...Don't Want to Spoil the Little Lady! LOL Good Luck to all In Your SS! Our daughter will be with us, and it is not like we are going to feel like getting dressed up anyway. Besides, have you ever had Arts Pizza? its the best. I have been known to drive to Anderson and bring it home to Indy just to get it for the family.
  4. The Jalepeno Cheddar Cheetos are my chip kryptonite. I can go weeks without any chips and then my gaze strays over towards them as I walk past at the grocery. Absolutely love them .........and you can't stop with just one. You sure can stop at one....................bag
  5. Good thing you qualified that. I skipped over it the first time I read your list and thought we were gonna have to get you fitted for a straight jacket and a rubber room. Is that just a list of returning state placers from last year, that is what I am assuming. Yeah I don't know if any of these guys will ose but if they all lose I'll walk to Indy I'll wave at ya, cause if they all lose, I'll walk to merrillville.

  7. Nope...actually I was just at Bdubs with Decbell1. But we did talk a lot about wrestling. I think he actually just wanted a little insight on my picks to be quite honest......... ;D Dont we all.....lol
  8. Nope...actually I was just at Bdubs with Decbell1. But we did talk a lot about wrestling. I like the cajun wings the best. But I never get the 12oz adult beverage there. I think they serve a 20 oz one.

  10. What I really want is a "Hayes Special pizza" from Arts Pizza in Anderson. or one of their fabulous roast beef sandwiches with a slice of green peper on top. They are so messy you need about 20 napkins to get through one, and your hands are still a mess.
  11. There are a ton of ways it could be done. I will just say that I think two classes would be perfect for the short term. If after two classes there is a need for another one then so be it. I don't quite want to jump all the way into 4 or 5 classes without slowly progressing from 2-3-4. That is the way they did it for football when they started the class system there. With two classes you could cut down the number of weeks for the tournament to 3 weeks, Sectional, Regional, State. With about 155 schools per class, you could have 16 sectionals that feed into four regionals that all feed to state. I would say 12-16 qualifiers per weight class per division. But I dont see them reinventing the wheel since they have a 5 and a 4 class system already in place. I think the best you could hope for is if they do decide to go to a 3 class system for the sports that are 4 class now. Also, no way they increase the number of kids that go to state if it requires them to rent out conseco for more time. They will either keep it to the same number of kids, or move the event to a less expensive site. Your choice, do you want to have large schools reduce the numbers of kids in their rooms so the small schools can keep the same number of kids in theirs. You have already said that at a small school, you have to share the athletes with the other sports teams that there just are not enough to go around. Since you cant get more kids in the room, all you are going to do is bring less kids into the sport at the large schools.
  12. The big schools would see a decrease of 25% in state qualifiers, while small schools will see an increase of 25%. The positive impact would be small schools would see a jump in participation and exposure, while the bigger schools would possibly see a decrease since their state qualifiers and placers would be cut. So what you are saying is you are all for cutting the kids from the big schools, simply because they live in a district that happens to have a large school. And this helps promote the sport how? Robbing Peter to pay Paul is not the answer.
  13. Lets move this discussion a different way, lets assume we have class wrestling. http://www.ihsaa.org/announcements/2006-07/0708Classifications.pdf That is the link to the 4 class system being used for the IHSAA sports that are not football. Using that, what would the team states look like for each class, considering that they only take 2 teams from each class to state, we wont have any more kids there for the team portion. Also we are going to have to make some assumptions that if they do institute class wrestling, they would do something to the qualifying requirements. I doubt that they take 224 from each class, due to the fact that to do so would require them to rent out conseco for a much longer period of time. I am guessing they drop it to the top eight in each class to get to a total of 448. Or they might go to the top 4 to keep it at the 224 that are there now. You wont get more kids to state, but you will redistribute the kids that make it there more evenly between small and large school kids.
  14. The board seems a bit slow tonight, must be that everyone is contemplating what they are up against tomorrow. Congrats to all that have made it this far, and good luck to all the wrestlers tomorrow.
  15. What was the score of that match? I think I remember seeing that it was like 3-2 or something like that.
  16. I am a big wimp, those are way to hot for me.
  17. Doritios are much better than cheetos. The texture of cheetos (especially the puffy ones) weirds me out. I am not a fan of the puffy ones either. I prefer the crunchy type.
  18. Not much of a Doritos fan, I prefer Jalapeno Cheddar Cheetos. They are addictive. Only drawback, they turn your computer key board orange.
  19. R.I.P Mr Lamb. From one Indian to another. Lets give a rah for AHS boys, with colors red and green so dear.
  20. Manchester and Iowa's pool of talent isn't random. They recruit the talent they have. And as you said, Iowa can offer incentives that Manchester can't. This is not the case with high schools in Indiana. For the most part, the school you go to is determined by where you live. Probability says that a big school is 3x as likely to have a state caliber athlete in the school because they have 3x as many students. So if, for the sake of argument, the average small school has 1 state caliber athlete and the average big school has 3, that would mean 1 out of the 14 wrestlers on a small school sectional roster would be state caliber, while 3 out 14 on the big school roster would be. So even though big schools and small schools each have the same number of sectional spots to start with, the odds say that a big school will have 3x as many state qualifiers simply because they have 3x as many state caliber athletes. This isn't because of any net advantage a big school individual has. It's just probability. This doesn't mean individual A would be 3x as likely to go to state if he simply chooses to go to a big school rather than a small school because at that point we are talking about an actual individual and not probability. Let's say individual A is in 8th grade and for whatever reason can choose to go to Yorktown or Ben Davis (nothing against Ben Davis) . Would you tell him to go to Ben Davis because he would have a better chance of being a state qualifier because 3x as many state qualifiers come from big schools? This is a bad example, because you have a 3x better chance of advancing to state from Yorktown then you do from BD. Again, nothing against BD, but Yorktown has one of the best youth programs in the state year in year out. They develop the practice partners they need from the ground up. If you ask me, that is the biggest difference in what your chances are of being a state qualifier. Does your HS offer a quality youth program. If you look at all of the schools that are in the hunt year in and year out to advance to team state, there is one thing that they all have in common. Great coaching at the youth level.
  21. I don't have those numbers. Sorry How can that be, you are the wrestling guru. Quite a few papers across the state are quoting your web site when they do a story on wrestling. Oh well, maybe someone with great computer skills and alot of time on their hands can figure it out. My guess, is that through the middle weights, you will see an even, or close to even split big/small, but as you get out to the upper and lower weights, the numbers skew to the big schools. I could probably get the data from TAE as his listing has weights and school. Maybe I'll try to get it from him. I'd be curious to see the info too. However, it wouldn't do much to the conversation. Just from personal experience I think small schools would have more success at upper weights. I think you can get away with being a bigger guy and being a multi-sport athlete easier than a middleweight and a multi-sport athlete. I was thinking more from a general population stand point, there are more middle weights at any school then there are upper and lower weights just like in the general population.
  22. And based on the probability, since big schools have 75% of the students and small schools have 25% of the students, a state caliber wrestler is 3x as likely to be on a big school's sectional roster. So you're saying that big schools have distinct advantages? If that is what you are saying then that is the case for class wrestling at both the individual and team levels. Isn't that why they want classes for football? I understand that this makes the case for a classed team tournament (I said that earlier). Big schools are statistically more likely to have a greater number of kids who have the natural ability to be a state qualifier. But it doesn't make the case for a classed individual tournament. If anything it makes the case that there is no advantage one way or the other. If there were an advantage in being an individual from a big school why wouldn't the percentage of qualifiers be significantly greater than 75%? I will ask these question again and don't mind the size of school.... Are more practice partners and more quality practice partners good for kids? Are more paid coaches better for kids? Are better facilities better for kids? Is less pressure to be a 2 or 3 sport athlete better for a wrestler? I say yes for all of those questions. Now answer me this.... where would you more likely find a yes to all those questions? For questions 1, 3, and 4, the answer is an obvious yes. for question 2, not always. not all paid coaches are the same, but I understand the point. For question 5, it is obvious that you are going to have a better chance to find it all at a big school. For those reasons I would gladly get behind a 2-3 class system for team. And while it is an advanage for kids from big schools, I still like having only one tournament for individule. Call it the Daleville syndrom if you will. Whenever they or Frankton, or Alexandria would win the Anderson sectional under the old system, you heard about it forever. If you go up there now, you will find people that love to talk about it. I dont hear people around there talking about the basketball team near as much now. Is that due to class basketball, or other outside factors, who knows. BUt I still hear about times when those teams went up against the big schools in Anderson and beat them. Esecially if it was the Indians that they beat.

  24. OK Y2, I know you got all kinds of numbers in there just waiting to get out. Lets see the break down of small school vs big school per weight class does it hold across the board, or are there a few weight classes that are skewing the numbers one way or the other. I would do it, but I am much better suited to ask questions then I am to answer them.......Guess I should have studied more in school.
