well crap, I could have got a 10.00 medal for a 50.00 entry fee, a 30-dollar card and 2 forfeits.
-
congrats Coach O'Neill. you did a great job at WC, and I hope you are there for a long time.

Thanks. I will be working track at the event, but I wanted to talk to the kids I am coaching at Pike about going to this event. We have some young kids that have never wrestled, so I might need to caution them, but then again any time on the mat is a good thing.

Do you have to qualify for folkstyle state? if so, what will qualify you.

Not only does joe do a great job on here, he even gave a young lady an interview who was at the finals this year and doing work for her degree. Joe spends time with anyone who has a real interest in the sport, and does his level best to make sure the right info gets out to those who ask.

I just got to drive and stay in a hotel, my seat will be on the floor as usual.

Not sure about how well he did all the years, but Taylor March had some solid years, I know he was there 2 years, not sure about the other 2 years. I tried to find some info on him, but my resource investigation skills are lacking.
never mind, he won it his senior year.

I will go with no conference. With Cathedral and Carmel, and center grove not being aligned, thats a pretty strong group of non-conference people placing.
After that, you have Central Indiana with the kids from Avon, and Brownsburg leading the way.
Then you have the duneland that had to have a strong showing.
I do not remember all the schools in any of those conferences, so it may be different from what I recall.

Not sure if this is the right place for this, but Pike HS has started our youth wrestling group again, we meet at the High School on Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M.
We have some great coaches and some quality middle school wrestlers participating, it is only $5.00 for each visit. Hit me up here, or just come on out the the school and we will get you signed up.

That is just what I was told by one of the IHSAA people on the floor saturday.

Someone needs to put Lance Ellis in this discussion, as a 4 timer, his freshman campaign had to be pretty impressive. That would go for any of the 4 timers in Indiana History.

It cannot be held anywhere near Indianapolis, the billionaire NBA owners will have most every room locked up and you will end up staying in Anderson, Shelbyville, or such.
Ball state cannot fit 4 mats on the floor without removing seats, and then you run into seating issues.
Ft Wayne the hockey team was trying to force the IHSAA to buy out their home game and refused to move it, so if you were hoping for that location, you know where to express your displeasure the hockey team thought they had the IHSAA over a barrel and was trying to force a huge payday for themselves at the expense of the wrestling fans.
That leaves the Ford center, they have the parking, and assured the IHSAA that they have the requisite number of hotel rooms, with plenty of places to eat near the arena for the breaks.
I just hope that they block out rooms for the workers who are
helping with this event.
And there is no chance of them moving it back a week and displacing the girls state finals. It would not be fair to the girls, and do you want to be the one who goes on record as moving a girls event in favor of a boys event?

looks so impressive, and just a freshman, this could be our next 4 timer

YOUR …. Average IHSAA wrestling fan here as everyone knows and I love Stats & Facts
I had to look this up here since Joe is the Guru of Indiana Wrestling Stats .
I asked my Son how many did Perry send to State . He said lemme look real quick .
He said 4
How long has it been Perry had a State Placer .
Answer…. 22 years . 2 Decades, that’s crazy to me . What was I doing back then . Working the Concrete Jungle here in Indy . My sons wasn’t even born yet. Wow What an accomplishment !
Interesting Fact of the Day
Learn something everyday here on Indianamat .
That streak ended tonight. I was amazed, I figured that at least two would advance.

Is that the same as the Merrillville turkey tug?
It is a line from Greg Warren a former wrestler, and now a comedian that has been on the Bob and Tom show talking about a mouthy teammate in high school giving him grieve for being in the band as well as a wrestler.

From my understanding there is no stalling in the UTB. You can pick a kid up and hold him in the air for 30 seconds if you want.
I was on the floor speaking with an official as this happened, I was under the impression that all the wrestler on top had to do was hold on, but he corrected me and told me that the top wrestler must work to return the bottom wrestler to the mat, and that stalling should have been called.

Is the IHSAA going to reimburse some money for the obstructed view seating that no one was aware of? These scorers tables for mats 2 and 3 are a problem for anyone sitting on the west side. Looks to be plenty of room to move these against the the side which would not block anyones view.
It was a topic on the floor I can attest to that. What happens tomorrow is anyone's guess.

I predict a lot of sleepless nights tonight.

I am working with the kiddies again, it takes me longer to get down to the mat then it does to show the move, and they are on to something different by the time I get back to my feet.
