  1. and he was probably a Baker..... if it was EMD it would be a Weinzapfel (i probably butchered that spelling)
  2. In my (albeit broken) brain more competitors is a win. thats a broad stance for sure the minutiae of how that affects other things could be a mile long but the more guys wrestling is always the end goal in my mind
  3. One thing i know is that some of these higher tier schools have a ton of kids who should be brought up like this I think of Adam Guerra who was behind me and Josh harper for 3 years and came in as a SR and got 5th. Give them 2-3 years of Varsity comp and he could easily compete with high level guys but got one year to do so. Those kids are the real heroes who put their time in to help their teammates be the best they could be and for just one shot for their own. And never once did those guys say something about it just kept busting their hump. So maybe not state champs but champion humans either way
  4. The unfortunate truth, $$$ is the thing it needs.....and wrestlings last "Big Donor" doesn't have the best track record unfortunately.
  5. Let em wrestle, its what god would want
  6. That was their bread and butter see the 2007 team. Lovelace was a backup and pinned our 5th place finisher. Frickin Mater Dei amiright
  7. He was a good kid. I haven't heard about him in a while but I hope he made it out he had a rough time with life sometimes. It’s a shame he was never able to show his stuff in the big stage he was just as good as any of those guys
  8. There were a couple years where Mishawaka had a few deep classes that I was apart of Randy Morin, Travis Thomas, Darius Cooley. i believe it was Randy’s Jr year he got third. All three heavyweights had wins against each other in challenges. the lower weights were always loaded too 112-119-125 we could bump the lineup between Myself (3rd twice) Harper (3x state champ) Adam Guerra (5th) Matt Guerra (4th) fave is a ton of flexibility on moving the lineup and getting best matchups
  9. The days before track and people preserving results. TAE was so ahead of his time.
  10. We live in a society that likes to “be the best” as opposed to what’s best for the population. If we want kids to get the most matches classes make that happen. The argument you’ll get is that it’s not a “True State Title” There is no objective answer that’s right. Each has pros and cons. One is do we want more kids to wrestle and get better or is Prestige more important. I don’t know what’s best but I understand both arguments.
  11. First one since being back…gonna be weird lol
  12. I kinda wanna just be a fly on the wall is that allowed.
  13. min stoked Vince kinda crazy but it’s a way to “compete” /perform !
  14. The 04/05 Al Smith was my Break out tournament. Joey Smith from Mishawaka put on a show in 06/07 making it to the finals unseeded.
  15. Just Cancel the Season or Push back until the pandemic is controlled....unfortunately wrestling is one of the worst sports with this thing around. No reason to risk health of the students and other people for high school athletics. Im sure thats not a popular opinion around here but what ya gonna do . This is up there with practicing Bulimia to make weight, it's just not healthy and in the long term causes more problems than it solves. That's Nicky Dubz's 2 Cents that no one asked for.
  16. The world will move on, wrestling will continue, will it be different? Very good chance. But at the end of the day we are in a Pandemic, health and safety of others should be a top priority. It will find a way and we as a community can bounce back. But first we need to except that it will never be "normal" again. The biggest thing I read out of this is cost to run the program. I find it amazing how expensive it is to run some of these sports. The money is there but will the people getting it be willing to share? This is my dumb 32 year old single guy with cats opinion so take it with a grain of salt.
  17. more like "pack up your bags and go Home" -stead! i dont have an opinion just that dad joke
  18. Unless the IHSAA brings back the Real Shaved Ice none of this Kona Truck 6oz of goop bull crap! WHO IS WITH ME!
  19. Matt didn’t you know we pocket that cash. STRAIGHT BALLIN!
