Haha, no way. I have it on good authority that the entire illinois team was composed of 6th grade girls. Only that could explain an Indiana win against the mighty Illini. Very proud of our young men, despite beating such a lackluster team

Great job by our Indiana lads against what I'm now being told was, in fact, a jv team. I could've swore we were short a few of our best seniors as well, but I must be mistaken. There's simply no way indiana could beat illinois, besides here and scholastic duals.

This time it's Riley Lefever, your 2014-2015 national champion at 184, with a hard-fought win. 2 Champs and a runner-up at the Lefever Thanksgiving table. Congratulations to a historically accomplished family

I count 4 Ill state champs, Swan, Minnick, Jurzak and Falconer. Indiana had just two
Plus illinois brought a few 2nd placers as well. All in all, great job by the indiana team. Special recognition to Sawyer Adams and Cory Hinkle for beating state champs. Huge pin by Morrow, too.
Haha, sawyer miller from south adams, not sawyer adams

Dingo Brigade got a reaction from backtothemat in Sean Mappes and others
Former Center Grove state champ and current Tenn-Chattanooga 174 Sean Mappes is the 2014-15 SoCon champ, and will be heading into the big dance with a head of steam.

Kudos also to former Warren Central standout Shabaka Johns of VMI, who nearly joined Mappes atop the podium, but instead finished an impressive 2nd.

Hanover Central alum Paul Petrov (Bucknell) and Army stud Brian Harvey, formerly of Cathedral finished an impressive 3rd and 4th, respectively,at the EIWA tourney.

Just wanted to give a little love to our non-big 10ers out there battling.

This tourney gets overlooked nationally but it has showcased a ton of topnotch wrestlers who have gone on to do big things collegiately. I would highly recommend it to anyone in our state (or beyond). Indiana could be loaded this year if our big guns show up

Dingo Brigade reacted to GrecoCoach in Some more stats from 2015 State
Things are where they should be. You want to compare a big school JV guy who has wrestled for a few years vs a small school varsity guy wrestling his first year to fill a spot? Big schools are set up to have more qualifiers because they have more guys and more experience to pull from. These stats are what they should be.

I'm for class wrestling not because these stats should be equal but because these stats show it is unfair.

James might not have the very best in-state resume compared with Macke and Corsaro and maybe a couple of others, but I bet he has more 'big wins' over elite opponents and more national credentials than any others in the discussion.

It was really tough seeing him leave the mat after his 3rd place match, really felt sorry for him! Impressed that he came back out and wrestled like the true champion he is after suffering such a huge loss. I was equally impressed with Stevenson battling thru his many injuries to get back to the podium, a true test of his character and grit!!

Very, very rare to see a freshman at his weight putting up points and falls like he is. I'm beyond impressed

Dingo Brigade reacted to maligned in 106 & 120 craziness
These 2 weight classes were a blast to watch.  I mean, who really knows what's going to happen?  There are probably 6 guys who could legitimately win 120 still.  It's crazy that Ferguson and Egli go out and mostly control Reitz and Black.  Meanwhile, Hatch easily handles Gomez (who just went toe to toe with Ferguson and Hudkins and just beat Egli).    Wild weight.

And 106?  The bottom half of the bracket has no guy with less than 4 losses.  I just posted info this week showing that the average number of losses for a finalist is 1.  Who watched that first round and doesn't think Davis or Mills with 6 losses or DeMien as a #4-seed could upset Triana and sneak through?  I know Cummings is still the favorite overall, but he is far from dominant.  If he gets upset in the top half, we could end up with a very unexpected champ.
