  4. I believe he was the #1 seed because he was 3-0 against the field.
  5. To piggy back on this, consistency does not have to be measured only by high placement success in the State tournament. We can probably go through the list of schools that year in and year out produce individuals that compete quite well amongst the ranks. Agreed though, Coach Snyder definitely has been the best at doing it year in and year out. I will say this though, I bet you one ingredient in that sauce is simple, time. You have to be willing to put it in, sacrifice it, and try to find enough of it to spread around. I do not think anyone can present a good argument against the influence that academies has had on our sport. I also would hope that these academies are producing the types of results that they have been, I mean at the end of the day, that is what is being paid for right? I also am quite certain that if many of these academy coaches were to take over a high school program, we would see those programs at or near the top consistently every year, as there are already some examples of this happening.
  6. I always know what time of the year it is when I start to see the word "crowdedness" thrown around.
  7. Careful, if you are guarding your age, this comment may expose it.
  8. So many great names in this topic. My brother and I had a conversation this weekend about how tough it is to make the semi-final match of the State tournament. I get that some paths leading there are more difficult than others, but to get to that match, you are beating someone pretty good, or at least someone that just beat someone pretty good. My hats off to all the current and previous state semi-finalist. To me this makes it even more impressive how some guys just make this look so easy.
  9. Please don’t bring math into this thread or we may get another Caprino/Cook Valpo/Purdue math debate going.
  10. That would be a change from last year, I think my brother was telling me that there was a limit of 8 per purchase last year. Not sure how I feel about the no limit though, as with anything, that can be abused also, but it would be nice to allow fans to purchase larger blocks to sit together.
  11. As if worrying about seating the day of is any better? I mean getting in line way ahead of time, the mad sprint, the saving of seats, the almost fights over said saved seats.
  12. Well I think that would be ideal and definitely help alleviate the stress, the IHSAA does most of their communicating through their ADs. I might suggest checking with them first and finding out exactly when this info was sent to them. As with anything, not all ADs are created equal. Just reading some of the comments, I feel as if some got info out a little sooner to their staff and parents. I would find it difficult to believe that certain schools got it before others. If that was the case, a legitimate gripe you would have.
  13. Hope you all got in one spot this year. It was a little awkward asking Saturday who we should cheer for with lone seat in the middle of our row and he said Joey. My reply was of course, well I don't think that is possible for this match but lets agree after, we can support each other the rest of the tournament! Best of luck to you this weekend and a healthy week leading up to it.
  14. Better to have them and not need them, than to need them and not have them. Probably worth taking a shot at them and getting money returned later. If they indeed are offering all session tickets to parents for the weekend, a good move by the IHSAA to reward these families with tickets the entire weekend.
  15. You are talking mats, thought you meant codes being emailed. Different set up for mats.
  16. Kudos to Hobart for taking on the daunting task of hosting a tournament with over 700 wrestlers. Great job! With that being said, can we add at least one more site for this weekend to spread out the wrestlers around the State?
  17. Pre-sale I assume will probably be similar to last year. State Qualifiers will have codes to purchase tickets first and then the rest will be released to public.
  18. Very well written. Situations are different from everyone. Wish the best of luck to all the athletes in this sport that compete and gain the valuable life lessons that come along with it.
  19. Us folks in the Central Time Zone will receive them first at Noon.
