  1. They'll have Trans bathrooms at bankers life before they have class wrestling.

Caitlyn can be in the same room when I take a dump, I don't care!  Let freedom ring!!

And when this happens, and when we allow freedom's ring, when we let it ring from Muncie and Madison, from Princeton to Peru, we will be able to speed up that day when all of God's wrestlers, big ones and small, Goers and stallers, Pluggers and Pinners, will be able to join hands and sing in the words of the old Negro spiritual:

Class at last! Class at last!

Thank God Almighty, we have class at last!

Yea, people going along with the 'new crowd'.

    fuddy - duddy

  2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_fallacies

Writing off all one-class arguments as antiquated, stale, and fuddy-duddies, and saying that one-class supporters are open minded, progressive, data analyzers has to be on this list somewhere, anyone willing to help me find which one it is?

Nearly all your posts on class wrestling are filled with logical falicies....you shouldn't need any help.  Facts are facts.  All aboard!!!  Don't be one of those Jonny Come Lately's.  Say no to Cruz, Rubio and Hillary.  Say Yes to Bernie or Donald!!!  Be bold, innovative, fresh.

  3. As of this posting, 28 people have responded to the first 2 options.  There have been 787 views of this topic. that's 3.5% of people that have seen this thread have changed their mind.  Hardly an indication that the numbers are growing.  But I guess if if was 0% to start with then it has grown.  Nice work!

Rome wasn't built in a day.  The tide is turning.  Gay marriage.  Legal pot. Class wrestling.  Hop on the train or get run over baby!!

  4. That is what has happened to Indiana Basketball, it's not like the state is any better or worse than what it was, it didn't add numbers, or make big school or small school kids better, it just made people care less and it lost a lot of the "buzz" that it used to have, I think that would be a negative from classing. In the end I don't buy that numbers would increase all that much at small schools because of it, but I do think that it would have a negative impact on the experience of our qulaifiers. I know you can't measure it, but I think it's something that should be taken into account.

A strawman argument that is easily countered.  I have read articles that have said the state is much deeper in talent and produces more D1 talent since class basketball has started.  That would be a strong argument that kids have gotten better.  Attendance was going down prior to classing so the people caring less argument holds no water.  Basketball is a VERY big deal at schools like Westview, Triton, Oregon Davis and Argos because of class basketball.

I would argue that our state finals would be even better and more special because there would be more fans, from more schools.  A parade of champions in front of 14,000 would be much better than 8 thousand.

  5. I am not judging how many kids want to wrestling in college based off of those numbers alone.  What I was pointing out was that if there were so many kids wanting to wrestle in college that the numbers might be higher at these tournaments, wouldn't you agree with that sentiment?

You are not following the argument if this is what you think is being said.

  6. Clever, Karl.

The point is this:  The data shows that +/- 97% of HS wrestlers don't wrestle in college.  Classing wrestling will not magically provide more opportunities.  The kids that want to wrestle in college will.  They will go to Trine or Manchester or wherever.  But kids apparently don't want to.  Sometimes kids just want to get on with their lives and leave wrestling in the rear view mirror.

You must not have read y2's outstanding and quite cogent reason why kids are not wrestling.

  7. Karl,

It seems you subscribe to the George Costanza school of logic: "It's not a lie if you believe it."

Like it or not, it appears the majority opinion is to keep wrestling classless (pun intended)

I don't know what that means.

On the contrary, these numbers are highly encouraging.  I LOVE it.  The antiquated, stale, fuddy-duddy crowd that want to hang on to classless model is fading every year.  I am thrilled that there seems to be a growing number of open minded, progressive, data analyzing fans out there.  It bodes well for the future of the sport.

  8. I'm sure they would love more kids on the team.  But where are they going to get them?  The data doesn't support your view that kids want to wrestle at those schools, or any schools for that matter.  If they wanted to wrestle beyond high school, then those 10-20 kids would already be on the rosters at the schools you listed.

I know that when my senior season ended, I was done.  Physically and mentally I was done with wrestling.  It seems like 97% of HS wrestlers were/are like me.

Regarding A....maybe we should be trying to grow the sport in the college ranks then? I'm all for growing the IN high school numbers as class proponents claim, but I'm confused because the argument seems to be it will lead to more college opportunities but point A leads me to believe it's a small, finite number so that argument is moot? I'm sure I'm missing something.

Schools like Trine and Manchester would LOVE to have more wrestlers.
