  2. My son, who is a baseball player, took a few years off after high school to get his head right. He was a member of the Indiana Bulls program through high school but lost his way his junior year and disappeared from the radar of coaches. Last year he made a choice to resurrect his career and live in the dorm at Ancilla. He made great friendships while enjoying the school/instructors. They do a great job of being there for the student; my son is returning even though he had other options so I believe that speaks volumes of his experience. I give the school 2 thumbs-up!!
  3. Tristan Moran, 17-5, ranked #11 (6-4 in last 10) B10 Wins: Cole Martin, Parker Filius, Chad Red, Mitch McKee, Justin Benjamin B10 Losses: Max Murin, Luke Pletcher, Nick Lee Chad Red, 15-6, ranked #5 (7-3 in last 10) B10 Wins: Mitch McKee, Cole Martin, Eddie Bolivar, Matt Santos, Max Murin, B10 Losses: Luke Pletcher (2x), Nick Lee, Tristan Moran Max Murin, 12-1, ranked #7 (9-1 in last 10) B10 Wins: Mitch McKee, Parker Filius, Eddie Bolivar, Dylan Duncan, Tristan Moran B10 Losses: Chad Red Just looking at the data, I would have Murin the 3rd seed as well.....the 4th seed is very debatable between Red & Moran.
  4. Missed them all Jason....keep the day job!
  5. I won Fort Wayne, and took 7th overall which would be similar to winning Semi-State & standing on the Podium!
  6. Lowery and Viduya accomplished that feat as well.
  7. I would include the following: Bettich at 120 Viduya at 145. Dickens at 160 LaPlace at 195
  8. At the very least he would appreciate knowing where to eat in the Region because I know he travels a bunch doing radio!! Personally I like Mr. Rakestraw hosting the event but they definitely need to either (1) improve their knowledge or (2) add people who know the wrestlers background (youth - high school).

  10. My picks for champs are: Mendez, Calhoun, Bates
  11. Wrestlers with the best chance: 106 - Ruble, 160 - Levitz, 170 - Fielden & Parrish, 182 - Winner, 220 - Gray. My champ, I took Winner at 182.
  12. New Castle -- 8 Evansville -- 2 East Chicago -- 3 Fort Wayne -- 1
  13. 1. I will agree that is a large disparity, moving a few schools in exchange for smaller schools will balance out the talent pool. 2. Could it happen, yes....does it happen, I don't know. It has been my experience athletes will participate if they enjoy the sport. I have been involved in sports for 35+ years (high school, CYO, Travel) and personally I have never heard any athlete state "I am quitting because our team can't win in the postseason". 3. I am in agreement with you, trying harder does not = winning. I remember playing golf in high school and in my SECTIONAL you had to shoot damn near even par to get out when other sites you could post a score in the 80's to advance. Fast forward 35 years....same thing is occurring but the sport has survived and I would guess the participants have grown. JMO, but challenges from a superior opponent does not make a quitter, that attitude was there from the beginning.
  14. Lowering the talent level at one site will increase the talent level at a different site. I just believe it is impossible to make all things equal for everyone.
  15. Naturally successful postseason runs (at any level) will help a program, but unfortunately it is NOT possible to allow every athlete/program to have success. You do the best you can but you must realize that it will not be equal for all; that is impossible to achieve. I am sure wrestlers who lose because of a tough draw (Sectional, Regional or SS) know they could have easily advanced at a weaker venue but I guarantee it will help them in the long run. Experiencing failure is vital to achieve quality learning and growing into adulthood.
  16. On average, a SS should have 5 kids STATE ranked Top 20 and 2.5 STATE ranked Top 10. 106 = 5 / Top 10 = 4 113 = 7 / Top 10 = 4 120 = 7 / Top 10 = 4 126 = 5 / Top 10 = 2 132 = 7 / Top 10 = 4 138 = 5 / Top 10 = 4 145 = 8 / Top 10 = 4 152 = 5 / Top 10 = 4 160 = 6 / Top 10 = 2 170 = 4 / Top 10 = 3 182 = 7 / Top 10 = 2 195 = 5 / Top 10 = 4 220 = 4 / Top 10 = 2 285 = 5 / Top 10 = 4
  17. My prediction on how many from each team will advance: Cathedral 9 Roncalli 6 Warren Central 6 Carmel 4 Zionsville 4 East Central 3 Franklin Central 2 Greenfield Central 2 Hamilton Southeastern 2 North Central 2 Perry Meridian 2 Anderson 1 Fishers 1 Indianapolis Lutheran 1 Lawrence Central 1 Lawrence North 1 Lawrenceburg 1 Lebanon 1 Milan 1 New Castle 1 New Palestine 1 North Montgomery 1 Richmond 1 Shenandoah 1 Westfield 1
  18. The best they could finish would be 1st and 2nd. The 2nd place finisher will see a Semi-State Champ at the same time as a 3rd place finisher.....Saturday morning.
  19. He finished 3rd at DAC, dnp at Al Smith, and 3rd at Regional. That quarter bracket is not a killer, which leads itself to a surprise advancer, but I would slot him behind Tirana and Stall. With that said, he has a shot if he wrestles his best all year.
  20. Good luck trying to preview the remaining semi-states in 2 shows. New Castle alone could have 24 matches involving State Ranked wrestlers BEFORE the semi’s are determined. I say you have a show per semi-state to allow for ‘free-lancing’.
  21. OUTSTANDING job as always: STATE RANKED = 4 (1 did not wrestle in Sectional, 1 did not wrestle in Regional, 2 lost at Regional) 276 / 280 = 98.57% wrestlers remaining NCSS = 6 (2 did not wrestle in Sectional, 4 eliminated at Regional) 106 / 112 = 94.64% wrestlers remaining EVSS = 16 (3 did not wrestle in Sectional, 1 did not wrestle in Regional, 12 eliminated at Regional) 124 / 140 = 88.57% wrestlers remaining FWSS = 16 (2 did not wrestle in Regional, 3 eliminated at Sectional, 11 eliminated at Regional) 124 / 140 = 88.57% wrestlers remaining ECSS = 16 (1 did not wrestle in Sectional, 2 eliminated at Sectional, 13 eliminated at Regional) 124 / 140 = 88.57% wrestlers remaining
  22. Roncalli (8) - 106 Lowery (1st), 113 Gilthero (1st), 126 Lowery (1st), 132 Slivka (2nd), 138 Page (4th), 145 Viduya (1st), 152 Frijie (2nd), 220 Lewis (4th)
  23. So far every finals match at Perry Meridian has been State ranked band State ranked. 103 - 160
