  1. Brandon didn't wrestle last year but was there in years before... Middle School State results and the ISWA results for kids is a who's-who of IHSAA champs and qualifiers for the future. It doesn't mean that if a kid doesn't place as a youngster, he can't as a high schooler but the percentage is pretty good for the ones that do place in their younger years.
  2. RAT, That was tongue-in-cheek, partner. haha ;D
  3. I am much too old for my "Chord" to be stuck, my man. LOL
  4. There is big difference in being challenged once or twice the WHOLE season in Indiana and being challenged 5 or 10 times a season at a school like St. Paris Graham which wrestles a national schedule that is brutal. I think Nathan wants to get better as a wrestler and prepare himself for the rigors of D1. Which situation prepares him better? Lawrence North, where you face Tommy Cash and Stevan Micic OR face the best the country has to offer in National tournaments and duals with Blair Academy and other national powerhouses? It's a no brainer. Cash and Micic are awesome wrestlers but lets be honest, these TWO are the only ones that will give him a challenge at 106lbs.
  5. I disagree. Furthermore, if they don't follow the "KIDS" circuit, perhaps they should since this often gives a person some insight into what is coming for the future. I am sorry but if anyone claims to be an Indiana wrestling fan and they have never heard of Bailey LaHue, they are out of the loop. I take it that since you are posting on a WRESTLING message board regarding the sport of wrestling that you are a wrestling fan. Maybe not? If that's the case, I apologize wholeheartedly.
  6. He won't turn many heads...there are a lot of folks who haven't been living in a cave for their whole life. Bailey LaHue has been good for a VERY LONG TIME! My question is...if you haven't heard of Bailey or at least saw the results at Middle School State or ISWA state in the past, where have you been? I find it amazing that a wrestler like him can "sneak up" on anyone! :) :)
  7. I agree with you on that...all 3 are very close as evidenced by a 1-0 match at New Castle (Boston/Cash) and a 5-3 match last yr at State Finals (Boston/Micic).
  8. I am sure the Lowell contingent will be heading to "Buffalo Wings and Rings" during the break. They will all stuff themselves with junk and I will have my usual side-salad with ice water/lemon wedge. Good times.
  9. jlaw1981, Just make sure you know what I said regarding "majoring" someone. Go back and read my post...I never said anything about the "3" majoring each other, I said the "3" were a Major better than the rest of the field. I stand by my claim, Cash, Micic, and Boston have the state/national accolades and the others do not. Can these 3 be beaten? Sure, but IMO, they are CLEARLY the head of the pack. I hope the others in the field prove me wrong, it makes for a better state finals.
  10. I will probably be criticized for this and if I am wrong, let me have it (on Sunday)...but here goes: There are 3 wrestlers who are CLEARLY above the field. Boston, Micic, and Cash. Sorry that I have to burst the bubbles of you folks but that's my opinion. The "others" will be majored by any of these 3 wrestlers. It's been like this all season long...if any of you have known the backgrounds and performances of these 3 wrestlers compared to the rest of the field, you would know...this is a 3 horse race! The sad thing is, one of them will only get 5th because of the ridiculous IHSAA wrestleback to 5th when you lose on Saturday morning. So, in essence, there will be 2 other wrestlers above either Micic or Cash (who wrestle on Sat morning) in the 3rd and 4th spot. A real shame. That's my take and again, if I am wrong, let me have it come Saturday night or Sunday morning. Anything can happen in wrestling and I could be wrong but I doubt it.
  11. BTW... It's GELEN ROBINSON, not GALEN ROBINSON. The young man's first name is pronounced "GEE LYNN". Just something to know before this weekend.
  12. 1OldWrestler: I couldn't agree more! The current system is a joke and the IHSAA system at SS is ridiculous. Determining who goes down state should never be the "luck of the draw". It should be the BEST 4 wrestlers earning their spot.
  13. Everyone take your time...it'll be fine, we've had a lot worse than this. We'll be wrestling tomorrow.
  14. I was asked by the tournament director to post this on Indiana's forum. Liberty nationals open Feb 25th-- approx 1400 to 1700 wrestlers 40 states http://www.libertynationalswrestling.com http://www.americacrownwrestling.com Liberty nationals rookie division clarification 2 and half years experience, NO state qualifiers or national qualifiers. If you think you have an exception in the rookie division contact bill@libertynationalswrestling.com we want everyone to wrestle. http://www.libertynationalswrestling.com http://www.americacrownwrestling.com Liberty nationals dual team championships feb 26th http://www.libertynationalswrestling.com http://www.americacrownwrestling.com Committed dual teams: arizona sunkist kids gnwa georgia colorado mamas boys greater heights missouri nebraska ironhawks arkansas mighty bluebirds team kansas team ohio team michigan If you want to wrestle on Sunday for a dual team, check with jason keck or bill gossett. There can be spots to fill on dual teams. jasonkeck@yahoo.com bill@libertynationalswrestling.com
  15. Hey Mike, I think someone got registered on the forum and placed the "bait" out there and you took it! hahaha ;D
  16. East Chicago has an awesome gymnasium. Calumet HS has a large one too.
  17. The funniest thing is...explaining to those who are new to wrestling i.e. parents/fans that have just got into the sport, WHY in the world we have to do this year in, year out? Invariably the question from them always arises: "Why do the other 3 semi-states provide spacious arenas and we have to fight to even see our kid wrestle"? This is especially true in the early rounds. If you've never been, come for the first 2 rounds this Saturday and watch the shove-fest begin. BTW Coach Willmann...I fudged a bit, it's a svelt 299lbs.
  18. Tom Minkel has not been a good fit for a lot of Indiana kids. I know that the MSU wrestling alumni have been calling for his retirement for quite some time. Sean, go after your dreams kid! Good luck! http://www.nwitimes.com/sports/college/portage-grad-mcmurray-leaving-michigan-state-wrestling-team/article_2842aa7c-9697-54e1-847d-822e28f6ef01.html
  19. I am looking for a shoe horn that will accommodate a slim and trim 295lb wrestling fan who will be attending the Merrillville SS this Saturday. If you are in possession of such an item, please contact me ASAP! BTW, yes...I had to bring it up!
  20. Mishawaka, I believe, sent 10 to state a few years back...
  21. Oh, don't worry, she'll be wrestling girls... ...on the main stage of the OLYMPICS one day. Yep, I said it. I truly believe by competing hard against the boys, she will be better vs. the GIRLS. I have known Kayla and her family for a LONG time. One thing is for sure, she works her butt off to be the best. Don't be surprised if she is representing the Red, White and Blue one day.
  22. That tells me that you people need to get a life!!!! LOL
