  1. Muckman 1999, While I agree with your first sentiment regarding the staff at M'ville and it most certainly would have to be sponsored by another school (because God knows, Janis won't be involved in it if it is not at M'ville's gym) but you can't be serious about KEEPING the SS at M'ville! How would you like to have a kid wrestle at SS and NOT be able to see them in action for the 1st two rounds? How would you like to be the parents who try to move to see their kid wrestle and the administration and police tell them "You have to find a seat" when there are no seats! You can only view 1/2 of the mat space on two mats in a lot of the seats for the first two rounds. Can you imagine going to watch your kid wrestle and you can't see it? The venue is a total JOKE. It is beyond ridiculous. Don't even attempt to justify it.
  2. Petrov should pick up bonus points. Having Brooks for Team Indiana would sure help out...but it will be a GREAT dual nonetheless. IMO: Illinois is favored at 106 and 113. Indiana at 120. A wash at 126. Illinois at 132. A wash at 138. Indiana at 145. A wash at 152. Illinois at 160 and 170. Indiana at 182. Illinois at 195. A wash at 220 and Hwt. We'll see?
  3. Janis Qualizza at Merrillville could care less about what is best for the sport of wrestling. It is all about her own agenda. As long as she sits on the IHSAA board, the SS will be held in the shoe box known as the M'ville Gym. You can talk about how great the administration is, etc. but the bottom line is...Qualizza knows what the issues are and simply doesn't care. Sad. Very sad.
  4. IMO: It all comes down to defeating national competition. It doesn't matter where you win at, it could be in a cornfield. A win vs. a Top 20 kid is huge no matter where it's at... Probably more Top 20 kids at Flo though...but at the end of the day, the recruiters are looking for quality wins vs. top kids. That could be at USAW folkstyle nationals or Flo.
  5. These are "SENIOR" all-star duals so Cortez won't be wrestling. 2A Champ Zane Richards is a FARGO champ, he's at 132lbs but unknown if he'll wrestle or the 3A Champ?
  6. I'll take Jackson in that one.
  7. ILLINOIS CHAMPS: FYI 3A Champs 106 Kris Williams, Thornton 113 Jordan Northrup, Harlem 120 Jered Cortez, GBN 126 Eddie Klimara, Providence 132 Sal Annoreno, Bartlett 138 Kyle Langenderfer, LWE 145 Kevin Moylan, Stagg 152 Max Schneider, Lane 160 Shaun McMurtry, Lockport 170 Jake Residori, Minooka 182 Sammy Brooks, OPRF 195 Brad Johnson, Lockport 220 Josh Marchok, Schaumburg 285 James Buss, DeLaSalle 2A Champs 106 Tommy Pawelski, Montini 113 Johnny Jimenez, Marmion 120 Matt Garelli, Fenwick 126 David Pearce, Civic 132 Zane Richards, Carbondale 138 Angelo Silvestro, Marmion 145 Lavion Mayes, Mascoutah 152 Austin Culton, Sycamore 160 Dylan Reel, Washington 170 Nathan Jackson, Marian 182 Jack Dechow, R.-Burton 195 Gage Harrah, CLC 220 Malcolm Watson, Nazareth 285 Jeremy Brazil, Vernon Hills 1A Champs 106 Brandon Briggs, North Boone 113 Nelson Baker, Byron 120 Josh Alber, Dakota 126 JJ Whaley, Stillman Valley 132 Maxx Hubbard, Newman CC 138 Alphonso Vruno, Sandwich 145 Mark McDonnell, Morrison 152 Brian Bahrs, Newman CC 160 Billy Chancey, Reed-Custer 170 Dan Stott, Harvard 182 RJ Troye, Newman CC 195 Matt McDonnell, Morrison 220 Channing Dolliger, Namara 285 Reid Sealby, Byron If Eddie Klimara wrestles, Ayersman will have his hands full. Cortez at 120lbs is one of the best in the country but an underclassmen. Jason already destroyed the 138lb champ earlier this season. Max Schneider is a total stud and also a World Judo Champ at 152lbs. Sammy Brooks at 182lbs from OPRF has signed with IOWA. It all depends on who shows up from both sides on who wins this one...
  8. Moylan and Jason have trained together for awhile in our room (RWA). With that being said, I pick Jason by 4-5pts at least.
  9. Thanks Mike! Either way, we'll remain in the RWA room throughout the off-season for HS and we'll be able to train with both IN/IL wrestlers. RWA is getting a nice mix of both. I see RWA becoming the next "OVERTIME" in the Chicagoland area.
  10. KarlHungas, No, no hoopla like LeBron! hahaha...but since MCKAJC inquired on a couple of posts, I thought I would address his question. It was more directed at him, personally, than the WHOLE WORLD as in LeBron's case. LOL :) :)
  11. MCKAJC, You are correct. It is "possible" that Jake will be wrestling in Illinois for high school. This is not to say that we don't support the Lowell program or their coaches, they are wonderful people and we love them like family . A final decision regarding this will be forthcoming soon.
  12. Mike, you got that right! The whole series (Dixie Nationals, Liberty Nationals, Big Horn Nationals, etc.) is horrible at releasing anything because they want to collect their money for selling brackets. With that said, it was a GREAT tournament and TEAM INDIANA earned 3rd place at the duals on Sunday. A very competitive duals for sure! Team Kansas won it all, I believe they had 4-5 Tulsa National champs on their roster, their little guys were machines! Team Missouri was runner-up. Thanks to Chad Red and Tim Champagne for heading up Team Indiana. The Individual Championships on Saturday was very competitive as many Indiana wrestlers competed. Some results...(that I can remember) 14/under: Jose Champagne-1st, CJ Red-1st, Jake Tucker-2nd, Colton Cummings-2nd, Drew Hughes-3rd, Ben Stewart-3rd, Blake Rypel-3rd and Gaige Torres-5th. 12/under: Carlos Champagne-5th.
  13. I agree with what has been said so far...Hughes, Cottey, Garza, H.Lee, Hudkins, and CJ RED could win it next year at 106lbs.
  14. KING KONG would not have a chance against Lance Ellis! (Love ya, buddy!)
  15. If you are a HS wrestling coach in Indiana, I highly recommend that you take some time and watch this video via the above link with Craig Anderson. (2 part video) It will be well worth your time. Some great insight into how administrators, coaches, and fans are working together to advance the sport of wrestling.
  16. Yep. The last Schurg boy is DAYLAN and he will be a Freshman next year. That's 4 Schurg brothers on 1 team! Dusty, Denton, Darden, and Daylan. All very good wrestlers and GREAT kids! (Oldest brother, Dallas, is wrestling in college)
  17. Wrestling Advisory Committee? Coaches Advisory Committee? Yearly recommendations that are actually acted upon...it goes on and on. If you watch the two-part video interview with Craig Anderson, you just wonder "Why in the world can't we do this in Indiana"? Here is an executive with a state's athletic association that is an expert on wrestling because...believe it or not...it's his job! I would love to see a 2-part interview with anyone from the IHSAA that has just a "small idea" of what wrestling is all about.
  18. The IHSA (Illinois High School Association) has a wonderful relationship with the wrestling community and is evidenced by their progressive moves toward wrestle backs, etc. Can you imagine having this kind of relationship with IHSAA? Click on the link below to see just how well they work together: http://www.illinoismatmen.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42316 Note: Their "Sectionals" are comparable to our Semi-State. It's just semantics.
  19. BlackshirtD: Fair enough. You are entitled to your opinion as everyone else. Gaige is an 8th grader right now. It's WHINING. Before you correct someone on their spelling, make sure YOU know how to spell yourself. BTW, the spelling on my post was correct. Per Merriam-Webster: whining-- present participle of whine (Verb) Give or make a long, high-pitched complaining cry or sound. Complain in a feeble or petulant way. Unless you really thought I was saying "WINNING"? If that's the case, no harm.
  20. I know that Hughes, Champagne, and Tucker will all be 18 yrs old for the state finals their senior year so to me, that doesn't stand out as a "problem" or a reason for you to be a "hater". It does, however, give rise to "whining". :
  21. CASH=3rd best at 106lbs. Bad Draw. I hate to say it, Y2, because he's (Lee) your boy but they need to get that extra round in for a true 3rd.

    Micic

Congrats Stevan! We have trained together for a long time, it's great to see the work you put in has paid off!!! Now it's back to work, just getting started!
  23. Truly one of the "Great" guys in wrestling. I am proud to be your friend.
