    CIA

Thanks! It is well appreciated! Jake donned his CIA singlet for the finals in honor of Coach Pendoski, Coach Hawkins, and Coach Sessa. You have all contributed greatly to his success along with his training partners: Jason Crary, Darden and Denton Schurg, Drew Hughes, Max Buckley, Riley Akers, Matthew James, and everyone at CIA; having Coach Willmann and the LWC/CIA members in his corner helped too! :) Looking forward to Freestyle and Greco! -Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling
  4. Thanks so much guys! Folkstyle has been a goal for him, he's been runner-up and placed in folkstyle before but never won it and he achieved it this year...his style is better suited for Freestyle and I think he enjoys Freestyle more, hence better success in that style (and Greco). My job is to keep him in solid positions and not be such a "high flyer" because he takes chances and Freestyle rewards that type of wrestling more than Folkstyle. :) Brock Morgan is a beast! Congratulations on a great day, Brock. Congratulations to all of the wrestlers who participated and it was wonderful to see such great friends this past weekend. It's comforting to be around so many "nuts" like me! LOL. I have not seen Mike Shipley all year so it was great to see him and so many others! ----Coach Tucker, Lowell Wrestling p.s. Brandi don't get upset that John and I laugh at you but it's pretty funny! haha...Thank you for the phone call!
  5. Novice 80 has to be leading the way...there is approximately 43 wrestlers so far! Wow!
  6. To our neighbors to the North: CONGRATULATIONS! I have known and watched these boys since they were young----and you made the REGION proud! Way to go! Hawk, we spent countless hours together over in Illinois coaching the boys and your hard work and persistence has paid off. Coach Vlink, it's a long road but it has to be soooooo sweet! You deserve it. Jake Rodriguez----way to go, buddy! Rex----enjoy your accomplishment! P.S. Hey Mark: I can remember when you were just a little guy wrestling with our club...and now, you helped win a team state title! Shows how old I am getting! Congrats!
  7. Marianovich from Marian Catholic is a stud...Ole Joey Gilbert is slowly turning Marian Catholic around where they used to be... Illinois just doesn't take it as seriously as we do (they don't send all of their studs)...oh well, they keep losing and we'll take it. Nice job, Indiana boys!
  8. I can't wait to catch up with old friends at folkstyle state! The competition at 80lbs will be tremendous. We are looking forward to a great time. 80lbs has some heavy hitters so far: Darden Schurg (not yet registered) Brock Morgan Tanner Shipley Jake Krause Jordan Vaughn It should be an exciting day of wrestling on Sunday! Good luck to everyone! ---Coach Tucker
  9. The LWC (Lowell Wrestling Club) will be at Munster this Sunday! (at Hobart on Saturday) www.trackwrestling.com
  10. Lowell Wrestlers along with Coaches Tucker, Hughes, and Alessia will be in the BRYANT SUITE. If you get a chance, give us a "HEY THERE!".
  11. I appreciate you clearing that up for us...we wondering a bit about the scoring. Congrats to all of the TEAMS! A real meat-grinder of a tournament for sure!
  12. I understand not counting two kids in the same weight class for points IF they are in the same pool but if two kids place from different pools, they should count those points...it only stands to reason. I think that is what killed us with the points difference...(with Jake and Drew at 75) I was just wondering... (especially since CIA is not in the Top Teams per the IHSWCA but is at the Top per Trackwrestling; that is why I thought the kids' status was changed since they registered)
  13. According Trackwrestling: Team Total Match Points= 1) CIA 181 2) Perry Meridian 98 3) Lowell MS 91 4) FRANKLIN MS 84 Team Classification Points= 1) CIA 344 2) FRANKLIN MS187 3) Lowell MS 161 4) Perry Meridian 157 Is the results derived from the IHSWCA different due to kids changing their status from CIA or a perhaps a Club to a middle school? Just wondering how Trackwrestling scored it this way and the IHSWCA has different results?

  15. Tommy: You looked awesome all day long! Keep up the good work!
  16. CORRECTION: LaHue 6 Tucker 2: Jake made a couple of mistakes and Bailey took advantage. That is what good wrestlers do... __________________ Easier side or harder side, you take it like a man. Any of those wrestlers can win it all on any given day. The fact that you mention "easier side" doesn't matter in the end. Bailey is a great kid and his folks are awesome as well, but don't run down a 5x state champion in Drew Hughes by saying he had the easier side. BOTTOMLINE: Drew got it done!
  17. There was an error with 75....Jake Tucker was 3rd, he defeated Davis 12-4. Rex has since corrected the error in Trackwrestling.
  18. ItalianMom: Yes, that's it...obviously we have no experience with wrestling and high school wrestling! Thanks for clearing that up. I guess the past 25 years of coaching and wrestling in both h.s. and college have been a mirage. In case someone didn't inform you, this is not FREESTYLE. Your statement of "Who knew over 500 kids would register?" Did you happen to look at the number of kids last year? It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. You are correct though, lets just wrestle...and move on. Criticism is part of our sport; that's what a forum is all about. When people pay money, they earn the right to complain otherwise have a FREE tournament.
  19. I understand your point, Brandi...I just cannot believe that they would POOL this thing? You are taking wrestlers that deserve the chance to be in the placings OUT of the mix. It doesn't make sense. I understand the blind draw and the vertical pairing...but whenever you pool a bracket like this it is clearly unfair to the kids. e.g. at 75: You have 6 state champs/runner-ups beating each other up and knocking each other OUT in the top pool. In the bottom pool you have 2 state champs; one will cruise to the finals barely breaking a sweat. Does this process deliver the TOP 6 kids in each bracket? NO. Again, why pool it? Oh well, lets wrestle! Everyone likes a challenge, right? See you there!
  20. I don't mind the vertical pairing but the pools I have to disagree with. At 75, the top pool is loaded and there is no doubt that they will knock each other out. It is not a true and accurate picture of a weight class like "line bracketing" would have been...unless I am mistaken and the kids will wrestle between the two pools? If not, that's a shame. Why pool it?
  21. I have worked along side Lance Ellis and I love his coaching technique and philosophy. He will be a GREAT one by the time he hangs up his whistle.
  22. Great Job Chesterton! We were out by 315pm and I believe ALL of our kids were done wrestling! LWC had a boatload of kids there...way to go DEVILS! Chesterton had 8 man brackets, even for the little guys so it was great! (Blocked Weight Classes) Congratulations to Jason Crary! He met Jake Tucker in the finals and had a great match! Jason won, 5-3. He is one tough customer for sure! They get to bang heads twice a week at CIA-NW too! Good stuff! Next week? Portage. -Coach Tucker
  23. Oh Stop, will ya! Hold on, I got powdered sugar on my fingers! Okay, I am good now... We wrestled at CP last weekend, it was blocked...Jake and Darden wrestled for the Million'th time in their young lives! (I think they have wrestled each other 15-20 times since the age of 5) haha...Jake won, it was a great match. They wrestle each other twice a week at CIA-NW so there are no surprises when they meet up...and they are partnering with Jason Crary there too so it's good action in practice. Jason looks tremendous and will be very tough at 85 for Folkstyle State. Drew Hughes won his block at CP also... I think at this stage of the season, Jake will be going 80 for Middle School state and Drew will be going 75 but for Folkstyle State, Jake will go 75 and Drew will go 70...the fact that middle school state doesn't have a 70lb class bumped both of them up...we have never put them in the same weight class. Coach Griffith, you now have the skinny so far this Indiana Season...LOL :)
  24. The LWC (Lowell Wrestling Club) had 43 wrestle last Sunday; we hope to get MORE at Chesterton this weekend!
  25. Groundhog: Tell'em to come on down! We'll take him! I don't know if Lake Central still has their club going now but if they don't, come down to LOWELL. www.eteamz.com/lowellwrestlingclub My phone is: 219-696-2003 (home) ----Coach Shane Tucker, LWC p.s. Many of our club kids "supplement" their training by going to CIA-NW which is held in Cedar Lake, IN at Hanover Central HS.
