  2. I believe one of the kids that Kris Williams lost to in the OFF SEASON was Indiana's (Penn) own Zach Davis, 3-2 at a summer tournament in Michigan. This is one of the losses that Willie is trying to remember but can't come up with on the video.

  4. I keep hounding Steve and Stevan about going to Northwestern! We'll see.
  5. Indeed. My bad. Definitely put Cleveland in the HM.
  6. Indiana did great this year, I believe they are moving up due to great coaches, parents, and clubs. Having spent an entire HS season in Illinois, I can tell you that it's a culture thing, it really is. The CULTURE of wrestling in IL is just so much different, that's why they are arguably the best wrestling state in the country. In addition, the IHSA in IL cooperates and supports the sport of wrestling in IL, they seem to really respect the history/legacy of wrestling in IL whereas the IHSAA in Indiana.......well.......I think we all know how they feel about wrestling. Nevertheless, Indiana is on the rise!
  7. I see Coach Weick quite often, he's at Brother Rice HS, still in the Chicago Catholic League. He's a legend for sure but our current coach John Kading is not so bad either, 4x NCAA D-1 AA at Oklahoma and National Champ. Gable cites Coach Weick as being one of the most influential people for him personally during his career. During the break at the CCL tournament, I gotta a chance to sit down with Weick and you could literally listen to him for hours, he's got stories on top of stories! LOL
  8. Since Hanover Central (Cedar Lake) is about 2 miles from Lowell, that's a lot of hardware from both towns that are very close to one another!
  9. Mount Carmel Caravan, Chicago IL Steve Williams 2x Joe Williams 4x TJ Williams 4x BJ Futrell 2x or Bryce Brill 12 Titles (Honorable Mention: Bryan Harney 2x, Charles Lloyd 2x, Tony Davis 1x, & 1x runner-up) I can't forget the LOWELL RED DEVILS, Lowell, IN: Marcus Schontube 2x Tom Renn 1x & 1x runner-up. Dale Goings 1x & 1x runner-up. Bobby Howard 1x & 5th place. Honorable Mention: Larry McMillen (1x Champ & 3rd place) Paul Mayer (1x Runner-up) I went with Howard over McMillen because I am biased. LOL Drew Hughes will be in the TOP 4 before he graduates, IMO.
  10. As good as an athlete Gelen is, he's an even better person. Congrats kid!! Proud of ya!! http://www.nwitimes.com/sports/high-school/l-c-s-robinson-earns-times-male-athlete-of-the/article_c7225dc8-a5e7-54bd-84c9-eeeb780f1edb.html
  11. Micic will wrestle at Northwestern, IMO. Stevan, don't make your father drive all over the country to watch you wrestle!! hahaha :) :) :) :)

  14. Nevertheless, Vote! I don't care if it's a back alley operation with commodore 64's, if it can help save wrestling, I'll vote!

  18. RWA (Region Wrestling Academy) Calumet Freestyle Open, this Saturday! Come out and see us!! (We'll see who eats more? Me or Coach Wadkins? )
  19. The kids just go and wrestle. The parents are proud of their accomplishments whether it was 1 state or 50 states represented. The wrestlers could have easily stayed home and did nothing but I give them credit for getting on the mat. Your statement undermines what these kids did and their efforts put forth in the event, regardless of whether it was a National tourney or not. BTW, I have no connection to any of the wrestlers that participated in this tourney. I just saw where someone posted the names of the wrestlers who earned some recognition on here and you make a statement like that. What were you hoping to accomplish? If you have a problem with the tourney, take it up with the administrators running it, not tearing down the kids. You wrestle who they put in front of you, period. The kids can't control who shows up.
  20. Alber was the 1A champ in IL at 120lbs. IL was the strongest state in the nation at 120lbs this past season having as many as 5-6 wrestlers ranked in the Top 20 depending on which publication you checked. An absolute brutal draw for Deondre first round.
  21. Welcome to the board, Coach Howard!!!!
