Chose the right path? I do not know all the details, but I do know what I heard you say to your wrestlers. We were sitting next to you in the warm up gym when you looked at your girls and told them to not take their hats off for anybody. To just keep walking. You even told them that you do not bow down to anyone. My assistant and I were taken back by the comments you made and could not believe that you would encourage your girls to blatantly disobey security. Once again, I do not know all the info about what happened between you and Faulkens, but I do know that you were setting up a confrontation when you told your team to refuse to remove their hats.- 40 replies

At our conference meet I coached in multiple matches where the opposing wrestling called for injury. Then got up, walked over to his coach and drank some water, talked for about 30 seconds and then walked back to the circle and said he was ready! No inhaler, no trainer, no blood, no rubbing a shoulder or any body part.

I really love the idea of a JV qualifier and a JV state. For programs like mine that struggle getting, and keeping numbers, additional JV matches this late in the season is a huge sell!! Most JV wrestling is done about this time of year. Small and middle size programs could benefit from this, because many kids may not want to spend the next month practicing knowing they most likely will not compete again this season.

The question should be why does Faulkens and the IHSAA not want to class wrestling, or other individual sports? We all know reasons why coaches and fans are opposed, but why is our organization so adamantly opposed to change in our sport? They have no problem changing basketball and football.
