7 spots at Center Grove are spoken for... Bellmont and Fort Wayne Carroll are battling for the final spot
Perry Meridian guys can correct me if I am mistaken, but I believe that Logan Cooper qualified for state at 215 last season after spending a majority of the season on Perry's JV..
I've got it 7 matches per side. CP gets bonus at 103, 140, 145, 215. MD gets bonus at 160, 189, and 285. Whoever gets the larger bonus point wins is going to take this dual..
5 teams have punched their tickets to Center Grove.. 12 more are vying for the final 3 spots tomorrow night!

Your memory is not serving you right if you think that Overby beat Marciano 'fairly easily'. Marciano led this match until the final 15 seconds of the 3rd period.
I'm not sure if a Semi-State alternate has ever qualified for State, however, I do remember a State alternate who ended up placing (Matt Birner- Peru in around '98 or '99)
i PM'd you.. and yes, some things i say may offend some people but i feel that i'm generally good-natured and most of the jesting is in good fun to keep the mood of the board light.
I personally enjoy seeing battle-tested Region kids with 5 to 10 losses reap the benefits of their tough schedules when they knock off untested kids from the Logansport Regional with shiny records
I've got this year's champions breakdown as 4 each for Merrillville, New Castle, and Evansville and 2 for Fort Wayne.
I said at the beginning of the season and I stand by my statement 10 days out from the State Finals that this will be the year that New Castle passes Merrillville for most medalists.
I like this idea, though the IHSAA would never go for it as it would add 2 extra rounds if you kept the same format where the semi-final losers go for 3rd and it would add 3 extra rounds if they had full wrestlebacks where a loser in the first round still had a chance to take 3rd..
is it just me or does anyone else find it dumb that the alternate is the one who was beaten in the first round by the champion? most of the time this alternate would be a 4th place finisher from his sectional since most of the time the regional is won by a sectional champion.. it seems to me that the best way to do things would be for the regional coaches to come together and vote on who the alternate at each weight class should be, or have some kind of criteria like head to head between the 4 non-advancing kids, overall record, etc... what are everyone's thoughts?
