I’ll just add, can we get more double stalling calls in 1st period of heavyweight matches? Make those big guys move some!

I feel like I’ve seen a lot of push outs too. Just pushing someone out isn’t looking to score.

I hate how it seems the same actions get called in the 3rd period and never do in the 1st. Saw a kid's season end because of stall calls this year in overtime. Had those same calls been made in the 1st, that wouldn't have been the deciding factor.

But it could've.. In our sport we all know pretty much anyone can beat anyone on any given day. That's why we wrestle the matches.

It just seems like anytime there is an illegal call resulting in injury in high level matches, 2 things always occur. People say it shouldn’t have been called, which is always subjective so now we are openly questioning officials’ decisions or say that the injured wrestler is taking a dive which influences coaches decisions to default. The situation yesterday seemed as if a decision was made, then influenced into something else.

Didn’t the injury take place before the coaches decision to default. They could’ve restarted ‘wrestling’ and then the coach can make that decision but since the medical staff deemed unable to continue I didn’t think the coaches had the chance to do anything.

I believe this year they changed it to where there was no more consultation of tournament directors or officials if the medical staff deemed unable to continue.

I thought the injured contestant was awarded the match by default?

Not sure I get the reference, but of course when you start getting to those numbers you're splitting hairs. I love the tournament because it will all sort itself out on the mat! -

I am looking for the years the IHSAA state tournament advancing qualifications were changed. IHSAA Handbooks quit explaining advancing qualification in 1971. So far what I have is: From Sectionals to Regionals 1st & 2nd qualify ?-1963 1st only qualify 1963-1972 When did top 4 qualify begin? From Regionals to State 1st & 2nd qualify ?-1962 1st only qualify 1963-1972 Semi-State begins 1976 always top 4 advance? Appreciate any historians who can help me gets a better idea of how the tournament was ran in years past.
