  1. Cool. Less mat time for kids that need it. Cause you know, there's clearly more future college wrestlers than non in high school wrestling. I can't wait for the, get the first takedown and stall state finals matches tho
  2. Well saying we are the armpit of high school sports is excessive. I've live in Virginia and South Carolina and Indiana is exponentially better than those states. Wrestlebacks are the only thing missing from making the wrestling tournament perfect. Let's relax with the hyperbole.
  3. Yes we should. Get better and stop making excuses. You could always move to any state bordering Indiana if you want classed that bad. I had to live in states that had 6 and 4 classes respectively and the state tournament was crap. It just becomes the big school division matters and the college coaches just come watch the bid division guys and no one even looks at the small school champ as a real champ.
  4. 10 Bucks the IHSAA never puts the state championships back in Indy. Just a feeling.
  5. Hockaday us beating anyone hes as solid a lock as Mendez ever was.
  6. It's the state finals. How about it's just a good bracket and not a bad draw?
  7. Believe what you want. And you definitely aren't in the know as much as you think you are. I'm not speaking with inference and I'm most definitely not referring to parents. Once again I havent mentioned programs. But to say it's not happening on a wide scale, state wide is willful ignorance
  8. Be careful use too much voice, you'll get classed wrestling and destroy the whole tournament
  9. I can because every kid has control of what's on the mat in front of them. Every kid has to deal with the same system. Should we just start picking 16 kids since every sectional, regional and semi state aren't created equal?
  10. Just because you willfully close your eyes to it doesn't mean its not happening. Parents can do whatever they want, they aren't bound to the IHSAA. But are coaches doing it? 100%. Just because you don't believe it, doesn't make it untrue. I also don't believe I mentioned any schools specifically, so why are you getting so defensive?
  11. People who physically move are literally doing it the proper and legal way. Nothing to do with what im saying.
  12. Let's be real. You can get mad at me for it, I don't care. There is rampant, and I mean rampant tampering and recruiting happening. Some schools are better at it than others. But it's happening and it's a problem. Everyone knows, no one wants to open the can of worms. I cam show you my son's phone if you think I'm BSing.
  13. Or just seed all 8 wrestlers and if you replace your kid, you become the 8 seed. Seems like that would solve most of the problem.
  14. Since we are on the topic of injury time, sure give choice or give a judgement for a takedown if it's in the process of a takedown. We already have extra nearfall for injury time in those situations. But also, let's start assessing team point deductions for when grown men in the stands start booing children for calling injury time. Some people have forgotten everything the sport of wrestling was supposed to teach us.
  15. I haven't decided yet. Just thought that a week out should start the thread. Ha.
  16. Why don't we just get rid of sectionals if we are worried about forfeits? Just start at the regional level? Sectionals in most places are a forgone conclusion anyways.
  17. Vargo beat thrive 2x, MS State 2nd and 1st. His 2nd was a 3-1 loss to Stanley. Almost teched Guyer. Kid is gonna be on the podium at minimum. Placed 4th at NHSCA twice. Harper won MS State and NHSCAs.
  18. Some things to think about when watching freestyle to help with understanding the scoring. The scoring is set up to reward the wrestling creating action. That's why sometimes even when the defending wrestler rolls someone through, unless they stop the momentum or change the direction of the momentum, the attacking wrestler will get the 2 or 4. Also, control is completely irrelevant in freestyle, exposure is all that matters. If you initated the move that caused exposure, you get points. Also, if a move starts inbounds, you can finish it out of bounds for the full points. Also, criteria is again set up to reward the wrestler that took the biggest risk or initated the most action in the match. Thats why highest point move and cautions are 1 and 2 on the list. Hopefully this helps with the frustration and makes it more understandable when you see it.
  19. Nah, I still think if you want to be on your feet, you still need to get out. But if top guys have to work for falls and they get a 5 second count for hooking the ankle, you at least have a chance to get out.
  20. Nope. Group of 8 #2 is blood round. If you lose in the consi of 4, you wrestle for 7th and 8th.
  21. I like everything except the 3 point takedown. Finally making top wrestlers do something other than sit on ankles for a riding time point. It's long overdue.
  22. Vargo is 3-1 15U 62 KG. In group of 4 consis. On the podium.
