Nobody is out to get anyone, your post opened up a debate because that's what forums do. He was dominate and I don't think anyone has said he wasn't dominate at all just the fact that there were others extremely impressive like hockaday who is the face of indiana wrestling at the moment and rightfully so! My question is why get so defensive. I feel like everytime someone disagrees it causes hurt feelings. Everyone in the state is going to have different opinions. P4p 138 had 3 kids in the top 20 and all had a great season! Hockaday is just another level and an amazing personality! Great kid. No one is out to get anyone.

Jake hockaday is most dominate! He is the standard in indiana. Incredible wrestler and character. True role model for the sport! He litterly handled his way through the whole series. Never down and never in harms way and pure domination! I for one was shell shocked with the pin but incredibly bias here. Up 3-0 with takedown and escape in seconds with a Rideout to end the 1st. But man kyrel took advantage when shepherd turned in and locked that cradle up tight! Kudos to kyrel and congrats on the state championship! Much deserved! Good luck to kyrel at the citadel!

Just a grateful post! Are we not blessed as fans, what a weekend! We seen a ton of indiana #1's go down, the 1st girl on the podium and Brownsburg take over as the new chiefs of the state! It is going to be a fun ride! As the season goes on i don't think we give enough credit to coaches, refs and media for their countless hours of devotion to the sport of wrestling for these kids! Can't thank you all enough! We do great at getting in an uproar with peoples post about how great their team is etc. Trying to get people worked up and hating. These kids that wrestle are all (typically) incredible athletes and better humans! They are competitive but grow a bond like no other sport. A prime example is crown point and bburg, we all know the history but what alot of people don't see is the bonds. Cp and burg kids love being around each other when not competing! We need to at times get better at not being upset with one side or the other because of ppl's post and just be excited indiana has nationally ranked teams! How great is it having 3 top 30 nationally ranked teams? I'm grateful for it and I'm grateful for how 99% of our athletes behave! Its truly something to be grateful for. Post on recruiting all the time, I know my 2 cents won't make a bit of difference but recruiting isn't a thing and I truly believe that people want to be a part of something special. When you have team cracking nationally ranked status and schedule kids and parents want to be a part of it and not only that typically these programs have coaches, community support and same goals. We all have heard saying about "if you are around 5 millionaires you will be the 6th" or "you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with" field of dreams "if you build it, they will come". We have to stop hating on programs like the burg, cg and cp. They have all built it right and they come. Im grateful we can travel outside of the US and have teams competing nationally to be recognized in the country. Here is to freestyle season, let's get excited for lace season as my son says! Its a beautiful time of the year! Fargo is getting closer. Time for world team and fargo dreams! Grateful for opportunity. Good luck to all our summer athletes! Accountability is a tough agenda for most!

Hes the man in the arena, I'm saying rest isn't happening if the man in the arena actions are different. I didn't see gesture last year, but that video has gone viral from this last weekend and not ok. But hey he is the one that has to be ok with how he acted and live with it and no one else. If anyone thinks thats okay I'm sorry, but it's not.

Different standard? Pretty sure all should be held to a standard of respect, dignity, and sportsmanship for our youth that look up to and emulate these guys especially an athlete like the W that has been a tremendous athlete that I am sure kids look up to! Has nothing to do with a singlet. More of a moral obligation and maturity! Not sure what gesture you are talking about but the one I know and seen was bad! Let's not make it about the W and face what it was, embarrassing for the sport.

These student athletes have to be set to a standard, we have kids in the stands emulating and looking up to these guys! How in the world does this warrant just an unsportsmanlike no diff than a ref getting upset for a coach yelling stalling. These two actions are not the same and require different outcomes. We condone this behavior and the sport goes backwards and no kids worry about consequences. Honestly a shame if nothing gets done! Ihsaa or the school should take action! Ihsaa always post be the face of sportsmanship so here is the chance to show repercussions for actions when certain gestures are made. Dissapointing! Cp v2 would have prob 4-6 or more that would have possibility of qualifying for state and placing that are all young underclassmen. Depth in the room is what makes programs really click and then when the bell rings they are ready to answer. I am sure Brownsburg has several as well. I don't think cp v2 has lost yet if not mistaken. They are really good! Programs like st paris Graham for years had freshman and sophomores not start and then win state titles Jr and sr years from developing with the upper classmen.

Another issue i can think of a match not mentioning names where wrestler got about 3 of the 45 second breathers on calls that were not even questionable. I see it alot too

Absolutely getting bad and I agree we should follow college rules when it comes to this giving opponent choice! Something has to change. Having a gas tank and being able to compete the whole match is part of the process! When a kid is hurt a kid is hurt but coaches def. Should be preaching to kids you don't call it unless hurt, not gassed. Biggest thing i see its usually after 2nd period and they never call a 2nd injury time! Seems to be preached as a strategy by some teams these days.

I agree deep with talent but believe gavin jendreas has really separated himself from everyone. 2-8 a toss-up but #2 and on jendreas was cutting! He has turned a corner! 144 you may call me crazy, but jeffrey hueyvart is the one to beat. Hes been on a mission all season and I think wins state by a decent margin.

I've said from day 1 gav will be in contention to win it! Gav has great hips and mat awareness! He will be ready come feb! I agree on depth too! What a blessing to have that depth at a big event like team state! Everyone contributed amazingly!

I'm sure you can ask any coach and they would say "why all the tough calls go against (insert school) not just Warren but we can make that up too I guess. I've seen alot of missed calls this yr! Refs must be out to get everyone or we are giving them tough situations where you have a second to make a decision. Refs have a tough job! Coaches, parents and everyone critique their every move and most decisions are a gray area where no two people will think alike. I personally think refs care and want the best wrestler to win and most enter reffing because they have a burning passion for the sport. This is my honest opinion!

Wow, officiating out to get Warren too? I was at al smith and feel officiating has alot of tough calls and prob taking applications if we can do better, I think they all do a great job and won't always be calls we like just like these threads where we won't always like what ppl post! I know you had nothing but good intentions on this post but came off different in a few ways. I truly believe this would be the same topic no matter the team or "demographic" of athlete. If they have legit reasoning so be it but I think it was more the way it happened no matter what team it was. Let's not make it more than what it is, it is a big event that the team no matter what team should handle with professionalism and feel honored to be apart of. Alot of hard work, dedication is put forth to put these great events on and that should be respected. With that said, if there is a legit reason for all that happened then nothing should happen but if it is just carelessness it should be addressed

I agree, whats sad is the selfishness (unless a valid reason) to pull a team like that when so many people work hard to put this great event together. This event is fun and alot of ppl work hard to get these mostly ranked kids together to battle and have a good time and now there is a team that is short on matches due to wc pulling. I'm sure alot of team would be honored to be apart of team state! Absolutely should be banned from team state and its a shame! Imo! Side note: all the hard working people that were involved with hosting and putting team state together thank you for all that you do for these kids! Indiana is blessed!
