As a person who was involved in one of the worst semi state brackets of all time
(#1,2,3,4 ranked in state).
2x SChamp
1x S Champ
1x SChamp
1x S Runner Up
the state format is fantastic with the exception of wrestle backs. You need to ensure you are giving the best of the best the chance to win it all and not base it off of not only 1 match but the draw u get because of a situation like this where #1 & #3 are in the same regional and the chance they draw #2 in the ticket round of semi state.
How many people are surprised by the way these 2 wrestlers college careers ended up going? I am not surprised by Lee but I feel Chad never reach his potential. Was Nebraska the right choice as far as wrestling goes for him?
Did anyone else think there was a lack of getting the crowd involved? Announcer wasnt as vocal as has been in the past few years. Music didnt play through half of the finals introductions. Indiana Introductions is what made it great to watch. It just seemed a lot less organized and spectacular as it has been in the past. We have been spoiled with a great number of 3 n 4 x state Champs recently that may have also taken a toll on just how hard to win just 1 really is
Fort Wayne has always been the weakest semi state. At least from what I remember since mid 90's. That's why every year when the brackets come out they always say the best draw is to get someone from the Ft Wayne Semistate Friday night regardless of if your a 1 or a 4
1999 Semi State @ 119
#1 Alex Ramos
#2 Josh Birge
#3 Robert Maldonado
#5 Andrew Bradbury
Bradbury and Ramos in same regional. Birge had Bradbury in the ticket round. Birge lost 13-12
