  1. what a fabulous year for the ladies on the mat!!! Having a granddaughter who is 7 and just started wrestling and a son whos a junior still competing its awesome to be able to tell her watch the young lady on mat whatever as she gives them hell trying to put there shoulder blades flat on the mat!! even at 7 years old she understands the challenges of competing with the boys, especially since she has a big brother!! to anyone who has over looked these young ladys take note… they r here to compete! they bleed and sweat and have something to prove!! good luck to everyone the rest of the day!! what a great couple days of wrestling its bn so far with the best yet to come!!
  2. Schaefer and Raney was fire! Schaefer reversed Raney to his back in the second but Raney was able to fight it off! Awesome match by 2 studs!
  3. Congrats to Reid and his family! Awesome family and proud this stud will be protecting our freedoms!!
  4. And congrats to Logan Bickel! I got to watch some of his freestyle matches and several of his Greco matches! The young man looked great on his feet and held great position in Greco! His coaches did an amazing job getting him ready and I’m sure he is gonna be ready to make some noise in our state series
  5. Brody had Condon from Cali in his last match for freestyle. Condon was all American in both styles so the young man is a real hammer to say the least! It seemed like a lot of the matches went the full 6 minutes so undoubtedly those guys had to be wore out! Brody was on the offense in true Brody fashion. But I’m sure all his opponents knew he was a 2 time single class champ and when your a bad dude you wear that bullseye on you singlet every time you step on the mat. it’s hard to explain but EVERY match there is high level, very physical and just mean! There was so many D1 commits that didn’t get on the podium! Everyone knows Fargo is the real deal but until you sit in the stands and watch you can’t really grasp just how salty it is!
  6. I should ad that even if the trainers would have let him compete no way he could have. That tournament is just NASTY! We all know Greco doesn’t get a lot of love but we saw sooooo many kids gets launched during the Greco tourney. You could here it in the crowd every 5-10 minutes today!
  7. Hunter was pretty beat up after freestyle and that lingered into the Greco tournament. He was determined to avenge a loss he took from state champ Mcgehee from Tennessee during the high school season. He was able to avenge that loss in the first round this morning with a tech fall but after the adrenaline wore off he was hurting pretty bad and trainers would not let him continue. Got him checked out in Fargo and doc said soft tissue strain. Told him take a couple midol and he be fine in a week
  8. Just to put it in perspective we stopped by the trainers room for ice…. Bro it really looked like a battlefield hospital. Kids laying down everywhere with arms, legs, shoulders taped up with ice, lots of coaches in there attending to injured wrestlers. Now I have a clearer understanding of why we wrestle folkstyle in high school instead of freestyle. The physicality and fast paced wrestle backs are truly the definition of a meat grinder! My hat is off to all these ladies, and gentleman. You all are truly warriors for just showing up
  9. I think it was 2-1 Johnson or 3-1 Johnson?before the takedown and near fall. It was a great match and very close until that point. That match was awesome and both guys are fun to watch! The sport would be boring if the underdog never won! That was one of several upsets at Holiday tourneys. That’s what makes it so much fun to watch. Like i said Johnson was a beast all weekend and the young man is for real! Congrats to both of them for arguably the best match of the tourney
  10. In all fairness I watched the entire finals and this match was the best finals match. Sollars and Little match got best match of the tourney but most coaches had already turned in there best match and outstanding wrestler votes. And this match was the last match of the tourney. I watched Johnson all weekend and this dude was a pit bull! Super athletic and arguably the fastest HWT in the state on his feet inside the circle! After Ralph got taken down he seemed to flip the switch. Everyone knew Johnson was the favorite besides Ralph I guess… He wrestled with a chip on his shoulder and right before the near fall points the entire gym was chanting his name. I remember when no one wanted to watch 220 & 285! Not anymore man these big dudes are super athletic and fun to watch! It’s great for the sport and anyone who left before that match missed out! Awesome match from both those studs! Chances are we will see it again!
  11. Hell guys im just thankful we have so much high school talent that this thread has turned into a straight up tomcat fight! I know we aren’t as deep as some other states but man we have some hammer high school wrestlers and some young hammers behind them! As far as the BB-MD dual it’s gonna be epic for sure! Brownsburg is definitely loaded and Mater Dei has several studs. Someone touched on it earlier in a team state thread I think?? BONUS POINTS will most likely decide the champion. Let’s not forget 2 losses by a team can be equaled out with one pin… And if was to go to criteria on a tie, that pin trumps the 2 wins. And we all know there gonna be a few pins and a few wins. When the smoke clears in January let’s just all try to not turn into keyboard tough guys! having 3 Indiana school teams ranked in the top 22 in the good ol USA is freakin awesome
  12. Citadel got them a stud! I have watched this young man practice for years now and he gives 110% at every practice! He is an excellent student as well and will get a top notch degree at Citadel. Congratulations Hayden
  13. Congratulations Codei! Michigan picked up a stud with excellent work ethic! Just goes to show you if you keep grinding college coaches will notice. Doubling up on All American at Fargo is quite an accomplishment! Congrats young man
  14. Hunter May is at Mater Dei this year. That’s the only one I have heard of
  15. Congrats to the Ruhlman family! Tristan was fun to watch wrestle this year and he wrestled with purpose! It’s awesome how many wrestling fans nowadays are excited to watch these big guys throw down like middle weights! It’s awesome for the sport and can’t wait to watch him in the BIG 10!
  16. Obviously I can’t speak for all Indiana wrestling families. However for my son and the majority of his teammates, and academy partners being the true #1 is the ultimate goal. If you have 5-6 state champions at the same weight who is really the champ?? My son and his partners would definitely be higher on the podium if we had class wrestling. But if you ask any of them if they want class wrestling the answer is no. This is just personal opinion but I think parents want class wrestling more than the actual kids wrestling want it. I would love to see some statistics on what the kids putting in the blood, sweat, and tears think??? I see both sides of this debate but I agree with Mattyb. the long standing tradition of being single class Indiana and the true State Champ is something all Hoosiers are proud of. My kid and many others might not ever get to the top of the podium but that is life... They don’t always get what they want but they never quit trying to get higher on that podium. I believe if we could get wrestle backs at semi state the debate over class wrestling would simmer down. We definitely have wrestlers getting knocked out of semi state that deserve to be at the state finals.
  17. Bray Emerine over Owen Bryant with the pin! Emerine is headed to the bank!!
  18. One thing that sticks out to me is the fact that the Penn school administrators have no comment! they sure had a lot to comment when they blocked him from wrestling. but on the other hand I don’t blame them for hiding their face and voice. Before this article there was a lot of grey areas in this story but now the fog is definitely clearing. Shame on Penn for being so hypocritical. Karma is a dish best served cold. hopefully this will serve as a lesson to other coaches and schools in the future.
  19. 126 was awesome! 138 was crazy from start to finish!
  20. Agreed! Preston should be able to wrestle just like Cody Goodwin did last year. Noah Mis missed weight the year before and should have been scratched from the tournament but they let him bump up a weight class.
  21. The young man has the killer instinct! He’s a gamer to. He has a lot of elite national experience as well. He will always turn it up on tourney day! 160 as a freshman is most definitely a hammer weight class for a freshman but I’m sure he will be ready to bang at semi state! Would love to see him at Bankers.
  22. Sounds like 85-110 gonna have some good matchups! i haven’t got to watch Rianne Murphy this year but she was fun to watch at ISWA. should be some good matchups from semis on!
  23. I will be the first to admit there is a lot of kids that will do well or possibly win that I dont know... having said that I feel pretty comfortable with these picks Revin Dickman 1st @75 Gavin Jendreas 1st @80 Brady Ison 1st @125 Preston Haines 1st 90-95? Kyle Harden 1st 102 Gunner Henry 1st at 160-170 Hunter May 1st at 132-140 Drew Mills 1st at 150-160 Parker Reynolds 1st @90-95 Easton Doster 1st @85 Dylan Graham 1st @102 can anyone help fill in the gaps or see any potential great matches?
  24. OK middle school parents it’s time to make a little noise about Middle school state! This youth wrestling forum has been way to quiet for the heart of the wrestling season. lets see your predictions on placement and best matchups for Indiana’s toughest youth tournament
