Huckaby from Perry Meridian with two pins over higher ranked opponents to win the Regional Championship at 160. On the flip side Perry Meridian only sends 8 kids to semi-state. Don’t know that stats on that but it’s probably the lowest in a very long time.

Alex Cottey’s first period should be higher. IMO the only thing that separates him from wrestlers like Jesse Mendez and Zeke Seltzer, is that he gets gassed pretty easily. He will be a monster in college if he can learn to go three full periods.

Obviously Mater Dei deserved coach of the year after winning Team State and Individual State, but just wanna give a quick shoutout to the PM coaches. Turning 3 state qualifiers last year to 9 this year. Toby Billerman wasn’t even on the varsity squad last year and continued to place 3rd at state this year. Jakob Sheets, Jajuan Dale, and Jeff Mcclure all did not make it past the first round of Semi-State their previous 3 years of HS and proceeded to get 4th, 4th, and SQ. Great job

yeah the mat 2 announcer was most entertaining for me. I kept it on mat 2 unless a Perry kid was on a different mat. I can see why people didn’t enjoy him though, if he was dawging on a kid you were rooting for.

I personally think seltzer is an absolute lock to win 126. Only person who is more of a lock to me is Mendez.

The way I do my pickems is if I do not recognize either name, I chalk it up to the rankings. No way people who have been watching the sport for 20+ years would even get one ranking wrong. Impossible
