Yeah sucks that either he or Lane Gilbert will now have to battle and one will have to wrestle for 7th and the best the other can do is 5th, when both guys are better than 7th in the state. If only there were a solution to this 🤔

I thought the Stalemate was a bit quick and I am Ben’s dad.  I think Ben would have still been able to hold that position, but it was quick for sure.  
 
The head scissor was definely there, and I think Ben would have been able to convert that one had it not been BUT… I am a little biased.
 
I could easily see some frustration on the stalemate calls.
 
Cast is a stud.  I hate to see any Senior go down who has worked their butt off, but wrestling in Indiana is soooo Brutal and that is why we love it.

So proud of Elijah Anthony. Watched him grind in the CIA room since he was young, and has always been a great friend to my brother couldn’t be more happy for him.

Hannon, if I remember correctly, was a very part time wrestler at best.  He only wrestled CYO, which is a VERY short season.  He did not go to any academies, or wrestle any ISWA events.  Super impressive, if you ask me

Slightly biased, but honorable mention goes to 2020 NCSS 113- Dylan Driver vs. Kody Glithero.
 
Glithero was coming off a huge win over Cottey the week before and was heavily favored to win. 
 
First period: 0-0.
Second period: Glithero chooses bottom, gets the escape 1-0.
Third period: Driver choses bottom, gets a reversal 2-1. Driver had Glithero on his back, but no back points. Should have been 2 at least. Rides Glithero out for the remainder and wins 2-1.

Wowwwwww!  I never looked at the box score.  Thank you for posting this.

Totally normal. I think not having total control, like when you were a wrestler, makes it nerve racking as a coach. We want them to reach goals they've worked for and feel helpless sitting in the corner watching. No matter how hard we work to prepare them and train them, ultimately, they have to go perform and some do, but some don't. 
 
Like anything else, it's about framing it for me. You will always question whether you did enough to prepare a kid when they fall short of their wrestling goal, but rely on the fact that you have instilled in them many life skills, including the very tough lesson that hard work and effort does not always equal reaching your goals--just the opportunity to achieve those goals.
 
That's what gets me through these next two weeks. Have to know that regardless of how many medals we win as a team, the seniors that leave are better off for having wrestled and will be better young men and women because of it.

That's a pretty bold post.
