  1. Yeah sucks that either he or Lane Gilbert will now have to battle and one will have to wrestle for 7th and the best the other can do is 5th, when both guys are better than 7th in the state. If only there were a solution to this
  2. I do not believe so. Not to anyone in Indiana at least
  3. Speaking of stalemate position… anyone watch the Cast-Phillips match wanna weigh in on their opinion as to how quick a stalemate was called with Cast trying to get to his butt vs how long they waited/didn’t call one when the situation was reversed and Cast got hit for scissoring the head? (Before things go off the rails as they tend to do here, Phillips was the clear winner of the match and this situation had no real effect on the outcome, just looking for opinions)
  4. While I hope to see my boys Ryan Cast and Max Broom under the lights, I just don’t see the stars aligning that well unfortunately.
  5. I think the real issue that needs to be debated is would you rather have lanyards or shaved ice?
  6. Ive only spoken to Elijah a couple of times personally, but my nephew was with him at CIA and from what he’s told me and the brief interactions I’ve had with Elijah himself, I feel like he welcomes the challenge.Nevertheless, definitely brutal draws all 4 years.

  8. BRUTAL draws left and right. Off the top of my head I can’t remember one weight class where I looked and was like ‘yeah that looks and equitable’. If only there were a solution
  9. I mean c’mon guys he hasn’t been on a mat in 5 years, nor was it mentioned in the post how long he had wrestled prior to stopping in 7th grade. Now if he started at like 4 years old, wrestled til 7th while doing high level comps and placing well in that time period it does take a little bit away from it. But nevertheless to take 5 years off from a sport that preaches putting in the work year round, still quite the feat.
  10. Super normal, I just finished coaching a season of 3rd grade basketball. We had a great team, we lost the first game of the year and then won 9 in a row to finish 9-1. We had a bye in the tournament and lost our first game last night by 3 to a team we beat by 16 three weeks ago. I was a wreck all day yesterday and was even worse today, I felt so bad for those boys. After the game I told them if they remember anything from this season it should be that game and that anything is possible and any team (or individual) can overcome any obstacle and prevail at anytime. I think someone said it best earlier, when you lose that passion it’s time to move on. Best of luck this weekend (and hopefully next) to you and your squad.
  11. The whole bottom half of 126 is silly, only 1 non SS ranked wrestler. Gonna be some great matches from a “down” SS ().
  12. 106: Smith, Wilson, Crull, Halevi 113: Dickey, Thompson, Getz, Whitley 120: Billerman, Leavel, Vest, Reyes 126: Wolf, Morton, Johnson, Ward 132: Zeke, Thrine, Anthony, Major 138: Lowery, Johnson, Gonzalez, O’Neil 145: Koontz, Searcy, Hooper, Cain 152: Rinehart, Walston, Glithero, Jones 160 (most wide open IMO): Farrell, Wagner, Euson, Powell 170: Cast, Braun, Cashman, Johnson 182: Hansen, Tilton, Albaugh, Jones 195: Jordan, Broom, Hastings, Bovard 220: Weingart, Kendrex, Lewis, Johnson 285: Burgett, Platonov, Watts, Smith
  13. Totally misread that and thought you were saying he had 165 TDs in a season he went 11-12, was like HOW?!? Haha
  14. Hayden and Gage if I’m not mistaken
  15. At the end of the day Isaac Ruble is a great wrestler, will undoubtedly capture 1 if not 2 titles. Cottey scored big early and did what he needed to do to capture another state title. I’d venture to say that any wrestler in Cottey’s position would’ve wrestled the same. You’re under the lights with a 5-0 lead in the first. You’re gonna wrestle more defensive at that point, you’re gonna be cautious, you’re gonna hang out on the edge, you’re gonna take a stall call or 2. This is state, period. Cottey had proven himself, he’s got his letter signed, but he still had the hunger to win. Call it chippy, call it what you will, I’ll call it good smart wrestling and it brought him a 2nd state title. Not to mention a 2nd state title that he didn’t need to solidify himself as a great wrestler in IHSAA history
  16. Definitely “could’ve” done more, but didn’t have to. Alexander should’ve done more. Jones wrestled his match, continued upper body action trying to work in his trips off his ties. Alexander got up early and tried to kick it in cruise control. They can only wrestle it out if there’s 2 guys trying to actually wrestle.
