Chapdaddy reacted to maligned in National Titles for 3 Indiana High School grads
In case you missed it on X or the college thread: Christian Mejia from Elkhart Memorial, Derek Blubaugh from Bloomington South, and Shawn Streck from Merrillville all picked up D2 national titles last night.

Mejia had finished 5th twice before, was seeded only 3rd, and was in his final year of eligibility.

Blubaugh had twice been national runner-up to his finals opponent, and had lost to him 5-0 two weeks ago, but finally got over the hump.

Streck picked up his second consecutive title.

    Congrats, guys!!

Rest in peace Coach Tim Brown. He was ALL IN ALL a good man and gave a ton to YOUNG wrestlers and the sport of wrestling in general. Tim gave all he could (willingly).

Lots of good memories for a ton of people. A reminder to be present in the everlasting now.

Ben Askren and Christian Pyles named us as a top 5 hardest state to win State in. Then they mentioned us as one of the best state championship atmospheres. And then they shouted out Ocampo for placing!

Lots of respect to all of these guys and they did in fact dominate this year! Those young men are going to do some big things at the next level.

Being biased myself, I’m going to put my plug in for Peyton Schoettle.

At Marian County, 3 falls and a tech fall in the finals… Mater Dei Holiday tourney.. a fall, tech fall, decision (4th place at KY state championship), and a loss by one point to Isaac Campbell that came with some scoring controversy (watch the video on Trackwrestling). 3 falls at sectional, 2 falls and a tech fall at Regional, a fall, tech fall, and two majors at semi-state, a fall, tech fall, and two decisions (beat the #6 and #2 ranked wrestlers while being ranked #5).

I think it is safe to say those who knew him… knew what he was capable of and that he was going to win it.

Putting wrestling to the side, he is just a great young man to be around. He is a good student who is humble and leads with a “quiet strength”.

I will say on behalf of the Ford Center, we really did try and I personally worked my tail off for this one. As a wrestling fan I was pumped to see it coming to our place. I’m sorry the lighting wasn’t the greatest for the finals, it was the best we could do with what we had to work with while trying to keep that finals feel. Originally they were just gonna keep the sports lights on, but I didn’t think that felt right. Had a blast all weekend and had the best seat I’ve ever had for a wrestling finals weekend.

They came right out and said it at the coaches meeting in Fort Wayne in November. Anything that looks pre planned gets hit, and I back flips would be pre planned. Which is still freaking lame. There’s nothing unsportsmanlike about doing a little extra celebrating in the greatest moment of these kid’s careers as long as it’s not directed at the other kid or coaches.

Most impressive thing to me about Ocampo’s win was she was down 5 early and almost pinned, but just went back to plugging away.  That’s the type of heart and fight we need to see out of all wrestlers.

Different standard? Pretty sure all should be held to a standard of respect, dignity, and sportsmanship for our youth that look up to and emulate these guys especially an athlete like the W that has been a tremendous athlete that I am sure kids look up to!

Has nothing to do with a singlet. More of a moral obligation and maturity!  Not sure what gesture you are talking about but the one I know and seen was bad! Let's not make it about the W and face what it was, embarrassing for the sport.
