This is Justice Cash and after losing 4 times at semi-state I am coming on here to share the story that I never was able to share after winning a state title... The dog tag in the picture has been in my shoe for every wrestling match since Amante Young's death... He was a brother to me and there was nothing I wanted to do more than win a state title for him and his memory. He died tragically in a car crash a few months after winning a state title in Michigan. For those who knew Amante you would know he was one of the sweetest, joyful, and kind hearted people you've ever met. He was always smiling and brought so much joy to others, he always had my back, and he always wanted to make himself better. His home life was never amazing but he still was always trying to make money to give gifts to his whole family during holidays and other occasions even knowing he wouldn't be getting any from his parents at times. He always wanted to help people and he never acted like he was bound to be unsuccessful because of his home life, he found ways to make himself better and others around him better. I could go on and on about how amazing Amante was as a person and a wrestler and about how much he meant to me and so many others, but here is the end and the end of my high school career. I would be so grateful if anyone who reads this would mention his name in my place after winning a state title this year because I have failed to make it there for him myself... Thank you...

1. Alec Viduya- I see the former state champ bringing home the semi state title this season. Undefeated on the year, it’ll be likely to see him on top of the podium at banker’s life too.
2. Jajuan Anderson- there will be multiple kids going home early in this tough 145 bracket, and either Jajuan Anderson or Jeff Dunasky will likely be one of them. I’m going with January Anderson taking second and not only defeating Jeff Dunasky, but also defeating Reece Luhman in the semi final. To me, Jajuan Anderson has simply proved himself over more tough competition than anyone in this bracket not named Alec Viduya.
3. Reece Luhman- another tough section to be in with two kids who likely deserve to make the trip to bankers life. I see Reece taking out another great wrestler in Gabe Gabe Philips and eventually taking down Carmel’s Jake Shafer. Reece has impressed me over and over again all season long and I expect for it to continue on Saturday.
4. Jake Shafer- Jake got a pretty good draw and I expect for him to capitalize. He certainly doesn’t have a cakewalk to bankers life, but I see him matching up well with every other kid in his section.

Seeds may be affected by a few teams who blatantly refuse to submit results from duals and other events. If you see a headscratcher I'd look at the team's IndianaMat profile and see what information has been submitted.

I’ve seen too many matches this weekend get dictated by the officials. Al Smith is a very competitive tournament with dozens of ranked wrestlers battling for a championship. It’s good to be on top of stalling but when you have two ranked competitors, you typically aren’t going to see what you’ll see in a peewee 45 match. Nonetheless, great tournament and thanks for officiating!
While I do agree it’s nice to see constant action, we have to remember that we wrestle folkstyle in high school. I’m all for stalling if a wrestler isn’t trying to advance position or is blatantly avoiding/stopping action. Nothing should ever change from an official’s perspective regardless of wrestlers being D1 athletes or 0-22 jv kids.
I love how this is always thrown out as an argument. I'd wager just about everyone on this forum has wrestled quite a bit, and is familiar with what should or shouldn't be a stall call, unless you're talking about some heavyweights.
While I don’t agree with every call, I didn’t see any bias. Cathedral won by like 50 points so I doubt there was a bias against them.

Next, wrestling shoes can only be red or green to match the ankle bands and only white socks no logos . Lots of confusion whos red and green . Making a lot of sense now that I’m thinking about it more and more .
