Kpbergman got a reaction from nkraus in Thanks/Keep up the good work
As a parent who has lurked here for the 4 years of my son's high school career, I just wanted to to say thanks to all the rankers and members of the community here. This has been a valuable resource that I have shared with others throughout the years and has helped in getting to know the competition and sometimes what to expect during the season. I wish other sports had the same kind of community that I have seen with Indiana high school wrestling.

Kpbergman got a reaction from FCFIGHTER170 in A letter to Seniors -- Why not wrestle? Why not Wabash?
Anthony very well sums up a lot of the reasons why my son selected Wabash College for further his education. We were both very impressed by the wrestling program from the coaches to the athletes to the facilities. In meeting with the coaches from both wrestling and football, the discussions were focused on what Wabash can do for my son's future, not stats or x's and o's. We're excited for his next 4 years.

In NO particular order: just the qualifiers
I was comparing the two sectionals side by side and writing down names)
106 Ford, Crowder, Brady, Cornewell
113 Sloffer, Weimer, Lewis, Herman
120 Ester, Veotch, Teusch, Heath
126 Humphrey, Kuhl, Shearer, Reister
132 Forrester, Hoy, Shelton, Heath
138 Burns, Tippman, Sotero, Chacon
145 Sheets, Ulrick, Mudrack, Tippman
152 McCune, Saylor, Wireman, Hilger
160 Kreager, Custer, Pettigrew, Goeglein
170 Fielden, Parrish, Morris, McKinley (Morris vs. Mullinax could go either way)
182 Walden, Schwehn, Knight, Saylor
195 Harris, VanWagner, Lepper, Mills
220 Bergman, Miller, Wicker, Martz
285 Hathaway, Buescher, Busch, Muncie

Kpbergman reacted to nkraus in Team State adds 4A UPDATE: 8-8-12-12 teams (the people have spoken)
2013-14there were 22 kids on the Garrett squad
2019-20 we started with 51 and are 49 or 50 now
16-17,17-18,19-20 we made it. Felt we were snubbed one...maybe two years. We knew we were close though. Funny thing is that we were a “bubble” vote in team this year yet we got 2nd. We’ve been seeded 5th twice and placed 2nd both of those years. Unseeded to 7th another year. We knew we could win it this year or compete before we were voted in. In 18 we knew we had a shot as well and came close in a runner up finish. This has definitely attracted kids! Believe it or not...our success has improved our feeder system and we have good wrestlers coming up. ......I’d bet that the same exists for other programs who are excited for the opportunity to win team state.

Kpbergman got a reaction from nkraus in Academic All State Stats by Semi State
I'm posting this because I thought it was something worth noting and somewhat interesting. I put together what I could.
Out of the 246 Juniors honored with Academic All-State status, 92 were Semi-State Qualifiers. 104 of the 224 Seniors also qualified. Below is a breakdown of those qualifiers by Semi State. I know there are some statistical issues with this and how some schools may not participate. The number of "Academic" includes honorable mention recipients as well. Four schools had 5 or more wrestlers qualify for both Academic All State and Semi State. They were Carmel (8), Columbus East (6), Garrett (6), and Penn (5).
Semi State Total Academic % Academic Seniors Senior Academic Junior Junior Academic East Chicago Central 41 27.89% 80 25 67 16 New Haven (Fort Wayne) 55 33.33% 86 26 79 29 New Castle 46 28.75% 88 18 72 28 Evansville 54 37.50% 85 35 59 19

Kpbergman reacted to TheWhiteRyno72 in Who had a great day at regionals
Nolan Hathaway had a great day at the Carroll regional. The heavyweight just weighing in at 208lbs came in as the 4 seed and pinned the New Haven Sectional champ at 285 from Snider. He then lost to a really good Heavyweight Chase Leeper from Eastside who is every bit of 285, athletic, a Conference Champion, a great young man and athlete. Hathaway finished up the day with a win over the 2 seed from the New Haven Sectional from Leo, Tom Busch a 2 time Semi-state qualifier. Very proud of Nolan's efforts, his love for his coaches, teammates, and family, and his accomplishments this year. Good luck at the Semi-State competing with the best in the surrounding areas.
