  1. Interesting topic and good read. Of course, most on here will cite examples of their Champs who didn't make a "hard cut" and point out that is the best possible route. Not many will have the guts to come on here and talk about the 1061/113/120 pounder who came down from 140+ to win his title. It is all relative ...
  2. When a wrestler has beaten an opponent time and time again - then drops the match when it is under the BIG lights on Saturday night. I'm not talking when the series goes back and forth - I'm talking when said wrestler has beaten other wrestler every time (but it's always been close) - but then drops the most important one. I know this happened this year with Schaffer and Rioux ...seems like I remember there being a Floyd Central/New Albany scenario that was similar a few years back. I'm sure this happens quite a bit - what are some that pop into your head when thinking of this scenario??
  3. I’ll get thrown over the coals for this- and admittedly I don’t know much- but maybe, just maybe, the grind that is the Southern part of the postseason tourney (Moorseville, EVSS) had BB and CG ready to go (iron sharpens iron type of thing) And conversely, maybe the 3 week cake-walk of a postseason CP enjoyed had their egos a little inflated?? And that’s not a dig- I mean, it’s only human nature.

  5. I’m not from the area so I’m not familiar with what “clubs” feed into certain high schools- but the point remains
  6. It’s not necessarily a “community thing” so-much-so as it is a CLUB thing. Crown Point just happens to be the lucky benefactors of these RWA kids assimilating under one school roof. Same could be said when Catherdral was pulling a ton of Contender kids Brownsburg a lot of Red Cobra , and the list goes on…
  7. Everyone knows the Southern part of the State is known for its fried organs/chicken/tenderloins!!
  8. So am I understanding this correctly?? Thousands of Indiana wrestling fans are going to have to go to the will call window to pick up physical, printed, paper copies of their tickets?!? What in the wide world??? Isn’t everything under the sun doing digital tickets nowadays?? Secondly- I sure hope the Ford Center has more than one will call window and multiple workers- or this could be a disaster lol
  9. Dude- why you keep bringing this up??? everyone on this board agrees the right/stand up thing was done. Why do you seem intent on wanting to take away a State trip from a kid who clearly deserves it?? Coach Synder - hats off to you and thoughts /prayers for the young man.
  10. Interesting thread read - but again, I'll reiterate - once you start viewing the dominance from a CLUB perspective and take the high school affiliation out of it (not that the high school's don't have a certain impact on success...but I'd argue the CLUBS probably have more) - then the transfers and dominance make a little more sense.
  11. Not being from the Indy area - I wasn't quite sure who/what CLUBS were dominate in the area. Point still remains however...the State series is becoming more and more a battle of CLUB teams as much as it is high school teams lol
  12. Interesting topic of discussion. I think we all agree that to be at this elite level of wrestling, it goes beyond the high school room and into the Club scene...so maybe, the more appropriate question is, which CLUBS are feeding into these schools?? Crown Point - RWA (Region Wrestling Academy) Brownsburg - Red Cobra's ? Center Grove - ??? Mater Dei - Maurer-Coughlin Just makes sense that these kids form a relationship rolling around all off-season together, and they want to be on the same high school team. Maybe this isn't the case...just what it appears from afar....
  13. Henderson vs Haines ticket round….ouch In what world does one of them not qualifying for State make ANY sense?!?
  14. Sure- wrestlers from the same conference often butt heads MANY times. While ALL were important- none were a “win or your seasons DONE” scenario of the ticket round…
  15. They’ve already wrestled twice this year (with Schaefer winning narrowly both times)- a 3rd match in the ticket round would just be cruel
  16. I might be wrong- but doesn’t the IHSAA do like a live TV reveal?? I seem to remember Greg Rakstraw and Mike Goebel talking thru the brackets??
  17. You think the success is tied into moving sectionals and regionals?? How so??
  18. ?? Seems to be kind of a dangerous/arrogant way of thinking?? "I'm the adult in the room so I know best!" Granted, adults/professionals should make the decision - but has anyone stopped and considered what the athletes that are actually competing want/desire?? Maybe they like the idea of 1 champion per weight class ?? (Even though "we adults" realize this is a stupid concept??)
  19. Sure....as I said- more wrestling is always a good thing. What most of you on this board probably don't think about or consider, is putting on these events requires quite a bit - setting up mats, finding table workers, concessions, etc... Takes a lot of dedicated and selfless people to make this like JV State come together.
  20. Has anyone ever thought to ask the actual wrestlers what they prefer??
  21. More wrestling is always a good thing.....but - I'm not sure where I fall on this one (personally). Seems to be a bit of overkill....
  22. Wow - this thread certainly took a turn lol. I don't have a dog in this fight - but I am willing to bet someone within the WC wrestling program reads and knows about this site. Not that we are owed anything - but an explanation for their departure would go a long way for their "reputation" amongst the wrestling community. Maybe those involved do not care what the outside perception is - and I wasn't in attendance for the 4A duals - so I only know what I have read. And that is that WC chose to leave, while having wrestlers able to participate, without word or messaging to those in charge??
