    I had to share this.

We have a young guy in our club who is deaf.  I remind our guys often that RJ probably is the toughest guy in our room.  Last year was his first practice ever. First time in a wrestling room.  He was in first grade and cannot hear or speak.  I could only imagine how difficult that had to be for him as we watched him go through his first couple of practices.

One year later, RJ is always the first guy in the room at practice.  He is usually the last guy to leave.  You can see that wrestling is something that RJ and his dad truly enjoy.

Yesterday dad was sending us pictures of him and RJ watching the finals on TV.  This morning he sent the collage of RJ in front of the TV with guys that have been in our room this past year.  At some of our camps, we let dad know which guys have great resumes and should do quite well in the upcoming HS Season.  RJ and his dad were excited to get pictures with the, and all the guys were great with RJ, even though it's not the easiest to communicate with him.

After I saw the picture it made me think of Spiderman's phrase.  With great power comes great responsibilities.

Congrats to all of this year's state champs.  I do want to thank the guys that were in our room and took just a few minutes to interact with RJ.  To be honest, I had forgot all about those champs that were around in the past year.......but RJ and his father didn't!  They will remember forever!

A great time at the Hall of Fame induction ceremony today (kudos to HoF direct Scott Schwarz and the IHSWCA executive staff).) Great to hear the stories about the inductees and what they have done to build our great sport. I will be forever indebted to all those who helped me along the way. Special thanks to Coach Rex Peckinpaugh for his touching induction speech for me. Rex shared a poem he wrote about the rivalry and enduring friendships between coaches and I wanted to share it with all of you. Thanks, Rex, I love you, brother.
    I look across the mat
    And I see a friend
I see a man who has toiled like I
And never gives up until the end

I see a man who is a leader
One that I certainly have admired
I see a guy who I know keeps going
Even at times when he is oh so tired

I see a man who I want to beat
But one I love just the same
A man I have struggled against
    In this crazy coaching game

I see a friend I have cried with
One I have laughed with as well
A man who I know if I needed him
    Would always answer the bell

I see a friend over there
In that corner across the way
I see a brother I have fought with
But one I will love till my dying day.

Loved the sandwich at first thought it was a donut. Also a classy move on handling the boos. Kids butt heads it happens im sure Carson never did it on purpose. You fix it and move on. Last year a kid got stitches on the mat. Great kid and family. Great win. Live it up. Enjoy it and dont let anyone take you moment.
    Congratulations

Last word on that pb&j ... so Carson , Nick, Slivka, and Rogers eat the sandwich. Carson has one bite left and Rogers says “dude don’t eat that last bite! We can put it in a baggie and sale it!” Then Carson ate it!
First dumb move of the night. We all know the second!
Again... he is sorry. Messed up the pace of the match. Not the typical day for him.

Dorian is freaky athletic.  So strong and such great hips and feet...which I know well from football.  So I knew he'd do good.
In fact, I thought he would win a state championship...NEXT year.  Prior to the season I thought he might surprise and be able to advance to the semistate based on his strength and athleticism.  Total surprise this year with his very limited experience!  Awesome job by him, the coaches, and his teammates!

Ironic that Garcia sticks him with a cradle. A cradle that Viduya beat him with a couple years ago. Congrats 3X Champ and best of luck on your next journey.

Dang.. I didn't think anything of it, except for it probably hurt. Congrats to Brewer on a great season. The Culver kid has a bright future. Very impressed a 14/15 year old kid could hang with Carson Brewer.

There was no tarnish on that win.  Maybe a little ugly with all of the breaks?  Maybe that's the same thing....
I wasn't a fan of all the boos.  Carson got a well earned State Championship.  Donahue showed heart and battled hard despite adversity.  Kudos to both.

Congratulations to Dorian Keys winning a state title. I know he is a very inexperienced wrestler, but I had the pleasure of coaching him as an 8th grader at Chapel Hill (Ben Davis) where he was part of an undefeated team. Also coached him as a Freshman at BD. Unfortunately, he didn't finish his Freshman season.
Also want to congratulate his workout partner Lawson Aiken.

I looked it up. Lee had a close match with Kasper McIntosh his junior year, then beat Aiden Warren 16-8 and beat an out of state guy by one his senior year.

I don't know without looking it up, but BLee was close last year.  I know he went through the entire tournament teching or falling everyone.
Regardless, Allred is the truth and a ridiculous accomplishment!

Mendez is just on another level here, majors a returning state champ in the semis. And made it look so easy, I’m just in wow when I watch him wrestle. If Rioux can keep it under a major I’ll be surprised. Good luck to both under the lights!!

like i'm the first person to get behind a great kid..when a kid wins One if the toughest hs tourneys and is undefeated..Majors #3 Bellamy..not had a offensive point scored on him in indiana...Great kid..Class act...my buddy's son...yea im gonna toot his horn and Have no problem being wrong if the stars don't align..I don't knock others when they make predictions so Its comical that anytime a county kid loses everybody loves throwing it in ppl faces...Brewer is in another level and when he's on, there isn't a soul in this state touching him.. And if i'm not mistaken mahan Gave a "Herculean" effort last year so... Where was I wrong? I got thick skin and can handle myself that's the difference between me and most ppl..I'm not just a anonymous smack talker behind a screen name..I have respect for the whole state and sport as a whole and if me rooting for Carson and Trizton and speaking well on them is wrong I don't wanna be right..Ppl can pile on all they want but my opinion is Brewer is once again on a roll and gonna be hard to beat and I don't see what the deal is.. The dudes lost twice in 2 years combined so Whomever wants to disagree that its gonna take a "herculean" effort are plain bitter or crazy.. and never once time have I said any kid ever is unbeatable..I wouldn't ever say that or put that on a kid...

Our mats were really old and they could not be re-conditioned so my AD replaced them all.  2 full mats plus an extra section.  The goal is to never pick these up.  We left the old sections below to stop the mats from sticking to the floor.
My AD is super supportive and my principal use to be the head coach! 😀
