  1. The problem with any of the rules is there is always some exception where the rule doesn't seem to do what we "think" is right. So, we can certainly discuss it here (this is after all a discussion forum). But the simple fact of the matter is whether you count FF or don't there will be circumstances where the rule seems absurd. My son has been injured for much of the season and weighed in, then not wrestled. Not dodging anybody, just getting his 6 certified weigh-ins (required by rule). He's only wrestled in 2 tournaments (often bumped up a weight for 'team reasons') and has received at least 2 FF in his 12 matches. So, it might be tough luck for him come seeding time. But, so be it. He'll wrestle whoever steps out against him. Frankly, I'd love to see him hit #1 seed before the semi's. When he pins that kid it will help our team in the sectional championship race since we won't have to wait 'til the finals to beat him.
  2. Yes. Just finished watching. Thanks so much for the broadcast. Great night of watching wrestling (without paying for FLO)
  3. Uhmmm... I think Manzona Bryant man-handled him this weekend.
  4. Is this Warren Centrals #1 guys???
  5. Still interested in details of these duals, but have not seen them posted on the Dual Results... Specifically wondering about Merrillville v Harrison and Plymouth v Harrison
  6. Do you have match by match results of this dual? Or is it o track?
  7. I'm back on topic.... I was coaching back before the 'Super dual' format etc.... In Colorado we used to be at 'individual tournaments' every weekend and dual meets with our conference during the week. The 'Super Dual' and subsequent varieties have been great for getting more matches (nobody going 2 and out anymore). However, they have created a coaching dilemma: Do I put out the line-up that gives each individual the best experience? Or Do I put out the line-up that gives the TEAM the best chance to win? Sometimes this means trading off pins.... Just wondering what folks think about this vs. true "dodging to protect a record".
  8. You'd have to show you had nobody certified in your program. Probably a record keeping nightmare. But this idea of winning duals figures into the avoiding tough match-ups. I think it's great to get tough match-ups for the individual wrestlers. But, if the coach is trying to win a dual... creating a match-up that can get the TEAM 6 points via a pin vs a potential loss for a strong guy is an interesting dilemma.
  9. Gotta go with Da Region. I see Portage winning this over Cathedral (presuming everyone is in the line-up). I just wish I could be there. Going to be some great wrestling. No dodging tough competition here!
  10. Hi-Jack continued... Not being an Indiana native, I find the ferocity of this debate about class wrestling almost comical. However, since this thread is essentially about being competitive I looked up the following article on FLOW: https://www.flowrestling.org/articles/5065531-which-state-is-the-best-at-producing-ncaa-all-americans- It looks at the states who are best at producing NCAA All-Americans. I don't see Indiana on the list of the top 20. I see lots of states with multi-class state tournaments in this list. So is our 1 class system actually helping? Here's another list (not quite as recent, but NOT adjusted for state population). http://mwolverine.com/Top_Wrestling_States.html Indiana comes in at #18 here, but still behind many multi-class states.
  11. Exactly how this data is collected over time is essential to its interpretation. Even still it will likely be multi-factorial in casues.
  12. LOL, but... Classing the State Tournament does NOT mean that the whole season would be classed. (Like Navy80's football example). It also argues for the ability to travel out of state...
  13. As posted on FB: Indiana has three teams in the InterMat Fab 50. Brownsburg Wrestling 26th Portage 36th Perry Meridian Wrestling 45th This is the first time in memory that Indiana has had three teams in the top 50. I am wondering why a team like Cathedral does not make the Fab 50??? Also, why is Cathedral not at IHSWCA Team State 3A? (I am not questioning the point value calculation method, I just can't recall if they were offered and declined or if there was some reason they are not in).
  14. I heard this was mistake... Anyone confirm if this result is accurate???
  15. Don't know your son's name, but it looks like there are some comment in the topic NOTABLE WINS/LOSSES about Decatur Central wrestlers...
  16. Elijah Pack of CMA is a freshman to watch for. He's been wrestling up a weight or two for duals. Only loss is to Calhoun of Plymouth.
  17. Not sure what Oldham is like, but MASON, OH will bring some studs and be solid everywhere in the line-up.
  18. "You're brain tells your body what to do!" -me After my wrestler told me he wasn't feeling good before a finals match of a tournament. My wrestler won, but has an emergency appendectomy that night. (Made it back for State... yikes). Not sure it was my best moment, but it was true!
  19. Thanks- I was wondering b/c it seemed to be 0-0 then a Fall...
  20. Interested to hear what happened in this match. Any details???
  21. Dilly! Dilly! indeed, but please, Bud Light is terrible. Too bad a decent beer did not use this marketing!!!
  22. Perhaps. Regardless, ZOMBIEDUST is a good beer.
  23. Thanks. I had some formatting issues, so I did not notice that. Out of curiosity then, what about from a tournament team perspective? Anyone think this order changes?
  24. Impressive work as a TEAM to put together this line-up. Plus a truly ideal balance of youth and upperclassmen. Watch out for MD.
