  1. Monstrous win by Nickal hitting a first period spladle over defending 184lb Big 10 champ Brooks. Heck of a response by their team leader after momentum changed with Hall losing.
  2. Thank you. Silas has a relentless work ethic on & off the mat. I got my first real look at Christian during his match with Cicerelli during that last incredible dual. Very impressive brother. Admittedly, I'm bias towards Bane coming out of our SS at 160 due to our friendship with him and his family. As well as the potential of our (Shenandoah) 160 Josh Gee who can't be overlooked by anyone. But brother.....aside from Christian's accomplishments at 160, the success he's had against flat out LEGIT 170's speak volumes for his capabilities this year. I'm very interested to see how the chips fall regarding that weight class at our gauntlet of a SS! I definitely feel he has the tools to get it done in a big way. Let's face it......they'll be some guys in multiple weight classes that don't punch a ticket coming out of New Castle that undoubtedly (my opinion) would podium if elsewhere. The same could be said for other weight classes elsewhere of course. Gonna make for an exciting run! Starting 1 match at a time next weekend
  3. 170lb #4-Silas Allred (Shenandoah) fresh. 36-0.....27 pins......and hasn't given up a takedown.
  4. -160- Josh Gee (Shenandoah) with a 10-5 decision over SS#8 JT Lazzara (Guerin Catholic).
  5. Strongly agree. Admittedly, I've had my eyes open wide and continue to do my research regarding D1 recruiting pertaining to wrestling. A sport I've fell in love with the past 4 yrs, but prior to had just enough "know-how" to unknowingly embarrass myself by stressing the importance of my son hitting a headlock every match
  6. That's awesome. Congratulations to both him & family!
  7. Congratulations. Awesome accomplishment! Reaping the dividends of effort. Don't relent young man!!!
  8. Yeah man, Mason is a hammer. He's also a high character kid with a great family. Definitely a bright future ahead of him.
  9. 195-Maddox Daleville *Over a very tough Goforth from Indian Creek 220-Mclaine Lebanon 285-Cain. Greensburg #8 Smiley from Beach Grove won outstanding wrestler. #13 Allred from Shenandoah pinned his way through bracket. Masconni was VERY impressive in a challenging 126lb class.
  10. I'd have to agree, based on what I've learned of this event that past couple yrs. I will say that our coaches, and even myself will keep everyone up to speed on significant wins and placements of our Shenandoah guys. I'm sure other schools will do the same. I'll do my best to at least get weight class champions and runner-ups of all classes to share here on the website. Tell you what though, the lack of seeding wrestlers makes for an interesting day 1!!!! Could very likely have ranked match-ups in the 1st 2 rounds. Definitely some pros/cons.......but I guess it's all just a part of what makes this tourney so competitive and challenging to win.

  12. Strongly disagree with holding a kid back strictly for sports related reasons. I personally feel it's an excuse to bypass hard work. Not withstanding, I know a couple "sports dads" who've done this, but in their case other factors were involved (grades/emotional issues/etc). It's a major temptation to parents who have kids who are young for their class though. I wasn't exempt from that temptation. With that said, even having a son who'll graduate at 17 and is currently a 14yr old freshman........his work ethic and drive proves that the only real road to success is spilling your guts into your goals. Short cuts always seem to catch up with an athlete.
  13. I can give you some clarity brother. My name is Eric Allred and I'm the father of Silas Allred, our (Shenandoah's) state ranked 170lb freshman. I also have the privilege of being our team chaplain/life coach and take great pride in helping our young men become the best version of themselves possible on & off the mat. I moved to this community from Muncie 4yrs ago when I gained custody of my sons. At the time, Silas hadn't wrestled since winning the ISWA State Championship as a 9yr old bantam
  14. Just want to commend you guys on an excellent job. Even being as invested as I am in our team and my own son.......I'm pretty confident that I'll end up leaving Ft Wayne with borderline whiplash from breaking my neck to get a peek at some of these other match-ups! Wow. Good luck to all the teams competing. Safe travels, I genuinely pray for the safety of all the athletes competing, and remember to represent your program and Indiana wrestling with integrity, sportsmanship and humility. Especially after trying to rip your opponents heads off
  15. Just wanted to share some wisdom with you that I received from a very reputable wrestling mind. I was asking myself, and some coaches the exact same question a few weeks ago. I have a son ranked at 170 and noticed that there were unranked individuals ahead of him n the SS rankings. Currently, there's only 1 ahead of him that meets the above mentioned criteria. What was shared with me was that in my case.....my son is only a freshman. He obviously has never wrestled a semi-state match. So regardless of MS accolades or National success, there's still a ton to prove. Especially when individuals who may have the current nod from a semi-state standpoint have possibly already proven themselves worthy on that stage. Admittedly, I have no idea who the young man is you're referring to, but I just wanted to share in hopes that it may give you some added perspective as it did me. You know man, as dads we want our sons to get all the recognition & dividends they spill their guts for. But at the end of the day brother.......it's a blessing to be in the rankings period. Never lose sight of that my friend. If nothing else, use it as a motivating factor to get your wrestler rolling with an even added purpose and chip on his shoulder. Hope this helped.
  16. Did you not read my above post? I wasn't eluding to either team being "scared". Strategy has nothing to do with fear man? I feel I've clarified perfectly, even going as far as saying that the "strategic" QUESTION wasn't meant to be slick or sarcastic. If somebody wants to turn it into anything else, that's their poor choice. I'm done speaking on the matter. Never been the type to tongue wrestle or throw jabs through social media. Anyone who knows me will validate that. Again......I can't be anymore crystal regarding my past posts. Looked like a great weekend for both squads. Fri can't come quick enough.
  17. Look forward to it. Especially the Yorktown results. You seemed to have taken offense to the "strategic" line man? It wasn't meant to be slick or to downtrodden either team in any way. It was a curious question that would be understandable if either team chose to go that route. As a parent first, then a fan of solid wrestlers in general second.......I was simply anxious for the results of a potential Rutter-Rasler & Laughlin-Levitz match-up. I'm confident quite a few others around the state found interest in that dual as well brother. But, thankful you guys made it home safely on slick roads even if it was late. Looking forward to Fri. Take care
  18. I'd have to lean towards Garcia myself in a possible Littell match-up. Not withstanding.......a Littell win is very possible. I've witnessed that young man win some big matches on the National level multiple times. However......being seasoned and already proving yourself under the lights provides added confidence and a distinct advantage in my opinion. I would use caution to not rule out Viduya quite yet though! In other news.......Where's the Yorktown vs Prairie Heights details?!?! Multiple state ranked guys and potential head 2 head match-ups. Maybe strategic on their end going into next week?
  19. Great questions from the above gentleman. I have one of my own regarding the seeding process at Team State. Are teams seeded based on current rankings within each class? Or does other factors come into consideration such as strength of schedule, quality wins/matches, etc.? Thanks
