  1. It was another good RTC last night with Coach Luke!

Next two weeks we've got some excellent clinicians scheduled!

April 4th - Derek Blubaugh - 2024 NCAA DII National champ from UIndy

April 11th - Ned Shuck - Bellarmine Head Coach - their program moves to DI next year. They've got some awesome things going on down there!

  2. Columbus North RTC is back in action this Thursday! Last RTC night we had 35 wrestlers from the area getting after it.

Join us this Thursday with special guest clinician Max Lacey!

    Indiana RTC Resident Athlete

    Puerto Rican National Team Member

    2020 Pan American champion
    2021 Pan Bronze
    2022 Pan Am Bronze
    2024 CAC Games Silver
    11th in 2023 World Championships

    Come get better this week!

  3. Columbus North RTC will be on Thursdays beginning March 7th from 5-6:30pm for MS and HS wrestlers. Must have USAW card.

Enter door 40, go to end of the hallway and up stairs, wrestling room is on the right at the top of the stairs.

March 7th will be a live night. Solid warmup/drill with a lot of situational live/live goes to prep for Folkstyle State this weekend.

    Come in and get better!

As logical as this sounds I would hate for a referee to be on the hook to determine if the athlete is injured during action. That seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen and refs have enough to deal with.

I'm not sure the referee wouldn't be on the hook any more than they would be if they missed another call. The athlete/coach can still stop the match, just with a consequence. If the athlete is truly injured, its worth the price. To me, it reduces the incentive to stop the match unless absolutely necessary (an actual injury). I feel that is as close to an even trade for stopping the action mid-takedown or mid-turn as is reasonable.

  5. This weekend I watched a kid signal for injury time while close to getting taken down, the ref didn't see it/didn't stop it, the kid ended up defending back to neutral (no takedown), then continued to wrestle the next 1+ minute of the match.

My thoughts on how to curb some of this:

Referee Injury time/stoppage = No penalty

Wrestler/Coach calls for Injury time = Opponent has choice on reset (just as with a second injury time in current rules).

  6. This is how I understood it... Granted, I had a yelling toddler at home, and atleast 2-3 other peoples yelling toddlers through the mics that people didn't know needed muted...

    1. You and your allotted coaches/managers (1-3 gets 2 total bands, etc) get in at check-in. Your only seat is in the corner, but you need a ticket for a seat in the stands (officially).

    2. Coaches bands are for both days, regardless of placer. Also your kids get in with their pass regardless of if they make it to Saturday.

Believe it or not I found the match on youtube already.  Weaver was up like 11 when he got pinned

That makes it even more impressive. Talk about grit and determination to make something happen late in the match when he was down big. I watched multiple kids melt in the finals this weekend being down by 2-3 points with a minute to go.

  8. We have one opening in our dual tournament on 12/9/23 at Columbus North High School.

8 Teams, two pools of 4 with two cross-over matches.

    Teams already attending:

    Bloomington North
    Brown County
    Columbus North
    Guerin Catholic
    Westfield
    Madison
    Western Boone
