Just based off of the High School Football state finals between Ben Davis and Penn. There were Six starting lineman that were over the 285 pound mark and going to College. They are at
least in shape enough to play College Football.

Hey, let's not get on T-shirts.  He's an IN guy.  Plus I generally think it is a bad idea to put down Da Region.  Hope you're not headed to ECSS
How about we use Dean Heil as an example instead.

While I don't technically disagree, playing devil's advocate, should there be more than 14 weight classes? Should college have more weight classes too?

Davison beat Streck this year 8-1 but you have him getting teched or pinned by a 165 pound guy.   Stick by it if you want it is just simply inaccurate.

There is quality wrestling at every weight. If you fail to understand or see that you do not understand the sport very well. Heavyweight and 220 are two of the hardest weights to wrestle when you look at the body type and style difference amongst the athletes competing. Look at Robert Samuels and Rickie Clark, and try to prepare to wrestle those two and every other style and body type in between.

Again I am not sure you are thinking things through. The guys you mentioned are really good however beating the likes of Streck, Boots, Hammond, McClaine, Aiken giving up 40 or more
pounds is silly. That is not to mention the quality that was there last year. Larson, Pokorney, Lee, Crider, Maddox.  I wouldn't get rid of 106 or 113 either but every since 220 (215) was
added there has been top notch quality guys. Lets not forget the best Wrestler in the country right now wrestles at 97kg (213lbs) not 125kg.

Big thanks to Ryan Williams and all of the Beech Grove volunteers for hosting a great tournament. Really cool with the Parade of teams, Spotlight and Finals face off.
Our parents, wrestlers and coaches really enjoyed it.

Just want to give some big props to this guy. He wrestled his heart out the other night against Zach Melloh on his senior night. Many believed he would give up bonus points to a very-polished Melloh, but Blaze stayed in the match the whole time, and after several crazy takedown defenses, even scored a takedown on Melloh and held him to an 11-8 decision. That is heart and what every coach looks for in a wrestler and what every young teammate looks for in a senior. Wishing you the best of luck on the rest of your senior year, bro! Blessed to call you a friend and awesome to see the growth you’ve shown!

In my opinion I think it was there best chance to win the dual. If I were in their position I would have done the same. The thought being we will run the table with the
remaining matches. They obviously expected bonus points at 145 which you stated you think would happen the next time they wrestle. I think at the least Sammy wins a
decision (major or better very possible) and Luis wins a decision. They couldn't have came back from that. They did put pressure on their guys who they expected to put up
bonus points. Just did not quite go as they planned.

I don't understand a word you are saying here. It seems like a foreign language to me. You are certainly entitled to your opinion but that
goes against everything we teach and talk about in our room.

Some of the best elementary wrestling that I’ve seen in a while. Wow!!! It was good.
I want to congratulate Avon for making the championship match for the 8th straight year (every year they’ve had it).
Also... big congrats to Center Grove on their back to back titles. Great team!
On a personal note... I think that I’m retiring from coaching at the elementary  level. It’s been a blast. Keep it rolling everyone!

Reading these comments I realize what a unique situation I personally get to benefit from.  Our coaches are far from part time (only in pay) because they are the club coaches also. I sometimes forget that the majority of wrestling programs are to your point part time or in season only. This season for our coaches started in October and will go until June. So the majority of our wrestlers will have that Coach since he started at 4 or 5 years old all the way through his High School career.

    This is from coach Tonte:
I don’t have an account, but this is something I wanted to make sure I said something about.  I have many friends that run academies and don’t think any of them would consider guys like us as part time coaches.  We and countless other coaches running successful programs do not consider ourselves to be part timers.

There are numerous strong programs like this in the state with in-program club feeder systems. In those situations, it makes complete sense why the coach would expect to have some input or control over the off-season training of their athletes. The generalizations being made in this post of high school coaches as "part-time" and academy coaches as "professionals" are disappointing. Indiana is blessed with many high school coaches who are "good enough to make a living" at coaching and still choose to coach high school and club programs over starting or working for academies. Moreover, many of these same coaches do continue to dedicate themselves to their wrestlers (all their wrestlers, not just the ones who can afford the costs of a private academy) year-round by training and taking kids to off-season tournaments for much less than the academy coaches are earning.
