It's rather annoying to see people who've never wrestled try to explain their position on why wrestle-backs shouldn't be a thing. Safe to say, they're clueless. So, if we can't have wrestle-backs, let's at least try to get a more focused effort on seeding so we can somehow get the best wrestlers advanced.

When Brayton Lee was a Freshman and undefeated was he one of the top 16 in the State at his weight? 

Your ideas of what is Fun and Beautiful could not be more different than mine. Just because that is how it is doesn't mean that is how it should be. 

I don’t really care if you like them because you enjoy watching kids get screwed by being a part of a flawed system. Bottom line is this isn’t how the sport of wrestling is setup so get the corn out of your teeth and wake up. Congrats on all that qualified and good luck next week. The fight will continue.

Track, golf, cross country, etc

Living on the South side of Indy especially the 46217 & 46227 zip codes automatically make you a great coach. If you are already a Great coach and you move in to those
zip codes it makes you even greater. As long as you wear Blue!!!!

So what sets these coaches a part?  Don't get me wrong, Chad, Dustin, CIA, Region Elite, Pride and others are great.  Last year Mauer Coughlin ran one practice a week in our room.  I am not saying kids shouldn't go, but I know quite a few high school coaches that do all of the things listed for all ages of their program.  Trust me, I know all about the community aspect.  I actually am going to use your post in our end of the year banquet.  
Frankly, a lot of our kids at Perry don't have the resources (parental support/money) to get over to an academy.  We try to create this atmosphere in our room.  I had an academy coach ask me last year why we don't send more kids to them.  It isn't that we discourage it, but it is hard to get kids and parents to get to all the things we create here in our program.  Some of our kids get out and go to other training opportunities, but most don't have the ability.  I guess you could say that is why PM has finished 2nd, 3rd, 2nd and 2nd in the last 4 team state championships.
The one thing that you can't deny is getting a bunch of state champs in a room whipping on each other.  That helps kids for sure.  I think having someone new give instruction is good as well.  It usually reinforces the what we teach and also can show things a little different.  I know not all programs do what we do, but I know some are pretty close.  Don't forget to come to our RTC on Tuesday nights this spring...6:00-7:45!

When it comes to Class wrestling there is no right or wrong. But if there is a way for more children to get into the Sport of Wrestling I am all for it. If it takes handing out ribbons and medals to every one then so be it. The Class idea isn't simply to help the "Small" schools be competitive in a watered down version of State. It also may help the larger inner City Schools attract one more guy. At the Perry regional this weekend there were several Schools barely represented that would not be in the same "Class" size wise as Perry, Roncali, Warren Central etc.  Wrestling has absolutely made a huge impact on my life personally. I would not be where I am today without it. I can assure you it wasn't easy to get my ass handed to me over and over. I wanted to kill my buddy for talking me into it. Turns out I am thrilled that he did. If there is a way to get more people into the Sport then I say please do. If there is another way then do that also.

Warren qualifies fo sho at 152

At 145, while the safe bet is Slivka, I refuse to count out Servies in the probable ticket round bout. He’s a tough, experienced senior, and he’ll give everything in the tank. The match-up is reminiscent of the Brookbank/Melloh clash two years ago that resulted in the Cathedral wrestler and medalist being knocked out. Saturday will be a fun day of wrestling!

There was some really high level wrestling that took place in case you missed it.  I know most people are focused on Semi-State as well they should be    I wanted to take a minute and mention a few observations. 
Probably one of the better semi finals I have seen in recent memory. Mahan and Lowe went back and forth with big moves and plenty of strength (side note is Warren was waiting for the winner) I would say Lowe was slicker and his gas tank was the difference. 
In the finals Noah Warren showed why is ranked number One.  In the last two weeks he has pinned really high level competition in the first period. Noah pinned Lowe with a cradle that me and another Coach were looking at each other saying what was that exactly. 
I have a feeling two maybe all three of these guys get out next week at Semi State

Folkstyle State last year
Junior 285 had 23 wrestlers, more than 100, 106, 113, and 120.
Cadet 285 had 17 wrestlers, more than 88, 94, and 100. 
I wouldn't want to let facts get in between you and your opinion though.

Going on a limb and predicting that half or more of the state champs are coming from three sectionals.

Trick question? ☺ That would violate the weight management plan. Neither seem healthier than the other. I get your point and it relates with mine. There are some athletes that need the lighter weight classes just like there are some between 250-285. Neither are a majority but both should have the opportunity to wrestle. No other sport teaches better life lessons and that's what I love about the sport.

Looks to me like there is plenty of action maybe some people just like watching scrambles out of bounds that don't score.
