  1. Decatur Central High School would like to host a girls dual tournament on 12/2/23. The tournament will be a round robin dual format with each team wrestling five times. We are looking for a total of 6 teams. The tournament will be alongside our boys dual tournament. Both tournaments will be hosted in the main and aux gym. We are currently looking to add one more team to our boys tournament too. This will be a good opportunity for your boy’s and girl’s teams to compete alongside each other.  Contact Coach Blake Schjoll for further information (ABSchjoll@decaturproud.org) or AD Justin Dixson (JDixson@decaturproud.org).

  3. Here is a hypothetical Semi-State Realignment for discussions.

This doesn't involve moving teams from one sectional to another but instead looks at moving a whole sectional to a different semi-state. At first glance it does look silly that a school would drive to a farther semi-state location but this is happening in our current alignment, ie,  Floyd Central and New Albany sectional location.

The thought about this realignment is to distribute the balance of "power" as much as possible with keeping travel distance in mind. Longest distance between a school and their semi-state location is under 155 miles, this is in line with our current alignment. This post isn't created to make anyone mad or upset but just something I have thought about the last couple days.

Six new schools would have to host a regional.

Tables of each semi-state are below

    Changes

    East Chicago Semi-State

    Gains:

    Frankfort Sectional

    Loses:

    Mishawaka Sectional

    Fort Wayne Semi-State

    Gains:

    Mishawaka Sectional

    Loses:

    Delta Sectional

    New Castle Semi-State

    Gains:

    Delta Sectional

    Avon Sectional

    Loses:

    Crawfordville Sectional

    Frankfort Sectional

    Evansville Semi-State

    Gains:

    Crawfordville Sectional

    Loses:

    Avon Sectional

Please let me know your thoughts and any critiques on this hypothetical Semi-State Realignment.

    Thanks

  6. 36 sectionals would make it nearly impossible to find enough referees.

    Two Possibilities

    1) 24 Sectional Sites

    Combine 1A & 2A sites

    2) Recruit more referees.

State shouldn't be about getting schools represented, it should be about getting the best kids competing.

It would help grow wrestling in the state of Indiana.

  7. Class the first two round of the State tournament. 1A, 2A, 3A. Same classification of the IHSWCA State Championships.

12 "1A" Sectionals using 16 man brackets. Lose pigtail and you are out. Wrestle backs to third just like we have now. Top 3 Advance to "1A" (Fort Wayne) Semi-State.

12 "2A" Sectionals using 16 man brackets. Lose pigtail and you are out. Wrestle backs to third just like we have now. Top 3 Advance to "2A" (New Castle) Semi-State.

12 "3A" Sectionals using 16 man bracket. Lose pigtail and you are out.Wrestle backs to third just like we have now. Top 4 Advance to "3A North" (East Chicago) or "3A South" (Evansville) Semi-State.

Semi-State will use a 24-man bracket. Bracket example is below. Top Four of each Semi-State advance to the State Championship at Banker Life Field House.

This will only take three week to complete.

Bracket to be used at Semi-State.

This allows opportunity for more schools to be represented at the State Championship and still only have 1 State Champ for each weight class.

  8. Would officials be more likely to call stalling if there were no "free" points involved?  What if every stalling call gave the opponent choice of position.  They could choose bottom and earn the escape point.  If they're behind a lot at the end of the match, they could choose top to try to get a pinning combo.

If you were really good on top, wouldn't you just stale so your opponent picks down to "earn the escape point"?
