I gotta believe silas Alred would be the top pound for pound in the state. Pinned the entire season, and 94% for his career.

It’s insane to watch him with my own eyes to be developed by Eric Keith into just a stud. Literally came in the room and Keith saw something in him and said he was going to be a champ. Sophomore year goes out against red in the semis and battles for a bit before getting pinned, goes up against black who is another seasoned wrestler and finishes second and senior year the kid was just a monster blowing through people with his blast double. What’s funny was in high school he didn’t understand top and bottom. Shoot he didn’t even know how to properly ride someone his senior year. But he is just soooo explosive it didn’t matter. I love watching the kid wrestle and work hard.

And he's well ahead of the learning curve.. ..his accelerated learning ability means means a year of development is equivalent to 3 years to anybody else.. plus he's not even begun to reach his prime and the type that could train at the otc and be contending for a spot on our national team.. that article written about him made me believe that as crazy as it sounds he just now started believing in himself to the highest degree.. He's so talented that he didn't realize how capable he really is!  Its came so natural to him that he didn't fully understand the magnitude of what he's accomplished in no time.. And now it seems he's fully invested and clicking on all cylinders competing at a high level..Wartburg has a tough schedule and their continuous success speaks to that..Put him in Purdue's room and get outta the way.. he's an enigma and with this type of talent there's no limit to what he can accomplish.

Ahhh talking about one of my favorite wrestlers to ever watch develops into an absolute stud! I think Kris could place pretty high, give him a coach that will work on his little mistakes and he could be fighting for a natty. The kid has all the ability in the world to be a champ

It also lets those small school kids get more matches in. I get the level of competition for some of these schools is greatly lowered than those of the bigger schools. But it’s high school, I’m all for giving every opportunity to kids to go further in wrestling and education.

Kids having success earlier will equate to them getting more looks from colleges. If you are a one-time placer, even a champ, as a senior your opportunities are limited because most schools(D1, D2, and even NAIA) are already looking at current juniors. It is crucial for a kid to have success(meaning state qualifier or medal) earlier especially when competing against classed states like Michigan, Ohio, and Illinois.

I believe they can’t wrestle a team outside of 300 miles as well. So if you travel 100 miles you can’t wrestle a team from Florida. I think that is a terrible rule.

Agree with @Mattyb. Shoot some people who never won a state title thought my brother would get smoked his senior year by a couple kids. There is a reason why these kids are state champs and some of them highly ranked in the country. I think it’s silly to say one state champ would smoke another.

I don’t find this thread silly, I enjoy the what if scenarios and the discussion on why someone chose that outcome.

Correction, portage beat MD in ‘04 then lost to LN in the semis. Give us some credit for being the first team ever to beat MD in the team state dual format lmao

Slivka is one of the best big match wrestlers in Indiana history. He had wins over multiple top ranked high schoolers last year. And has beaten more of those guys this year. He just gets the job done. Slivka is a hammer on top and underrated on his feet. I’m unaware of any national ranked kids that Dickens has beat. Slivka has beaten a handful. With that said, that’s the reason that Slivka gets my nod. I’m using logic and facts.

EMD fans are pumped for their guy. As they should be. Again, silly debate but a fun one. Obviously the Dickens win is fresh and 90 percent of EMD fans will give Dickens the nod. It is what it is.

With all of that said, most posters on here have never won a title and will never have family member win a title. They will never know the joy or help put the work in to win a title. So.. when you get on here and say a KID will smoke another KID, it is kinda insulting to a family that actually put in the work, took the kid to privates, took the kid to academy, took the kid all over the USA, the money that was spent, the sleep that was missed, the days of work missed, the tudors that were payed for, getting up at 5:00am to help the kid work out and meal prep, the “vacation” time that was spent in the middle of Iowa. So before you go off running your mouth behind your anonymous screen name, be considerate of what people went through and know that they are prideful. Make your logical picks or homer picks, but you need to be respectful of other people’s sacrifices. Calm down cowboys.

    Just my two cents.

Dickens NOR slivka smoke either one. They are both great wrestlers. Dickens would control neutral game, slivka would control the top game. The kid was down by 5 to my buddy DJ at state and came back to win because of his brutal top game. It’s really a toss up. Dickens could win 5 and slivka could win 5 in 10 matches.

I hate to see any wrestler injured, but here is my thoughts on the matter. Was the injury caused on an illegal move? If yes, and that wrestler injury defaults out of that match but can wrestle later after taking a Tylenol or something of that nature I’m fine with it, I’d rather see a match rather than a forfeit at state. If something is broke then I totally agree with the wrestler not going, but if something is strained and he can wrestle through it later then so be it. It happened with my brother and Tyler Willis in the finals in 2010. Willis was injured on an illegal move in the semis, you could see he was in a lot of pain and couldn’t continue. So Willis injury defaulted and won the match due to the illegal move. He went on to wrestle in the finals against my brother. He wasn’t himself for sure, but I commend him for going out there and trying, and fighting through the pain. I’d HATE to see a match forfeited under the lights.

I’ve never met a coach that will allow a kid to injury default just to get to the finals. The look our what’s best for their kid. Now I’m not saying there is t a coach out there that would just take the injury default when their kid is fine. But again if it’s serious and they can’t wrestle then forfeit.

Maybe, but do you know what is said to a wrestler when it’s just him, the coaches, and the medical personal? Because I don’t. Maybe there are some that I’ve met that have, but I would never know. I’m too busy focusing on my wrestler rather than what the opposing coach is saying.

I believe it would be a great match, but I’m a fan of Viduya’ style. Matt’s heavy hands could be the difference though.
