Not to hijack the thread, but it's a double edged sword with that.  Problem with that is small schools mostly wrestling small schools it that it often ends up resulting in trading FF with few actual matches occurring.  Wrestlers also lose interest much quicker when they work hard all week, put the work in to make weight, wake up early, travel far away, and spend most of the morning not getting any actual competition in.  At least when you wrestle most big teams and some V2 teams they have a full roster which means your getting matches in individual even if at the end of the day the teams record hurting due to some FF's in the lineup.

No one wants to see it end the way it did but all you can hope for is the Center Grove kid, who is a great wrestler will learn from this and move forward.
Franklin has a great young team that always seem to be in the matches until the end.  Great tourney Saturday!!!

In my opinion for a kid that has a chance of being a placer and maybe even a shot at the finals getting that goose egg off his record can do more good than bad.  I have seen it just eat kids up and it is hard to mentally prepare them for big matches because they are wrestling not to lose. I can't count how many times I have dealt with this and I hate it.  Now there are the Brayton and Redd's that don't have this issue because they get out of our small mud hole and wrestle at the national level.
 

I dont have a clue why Jaden Sonner of New Albany isnt not only on there but not in the top 8. He is 59-1 in his last 60 High School matches. Has quite a few noticable wins over that period also. He got upset in the ticket round last 2 years. Had a few good tourneys in the offseason also. 

My kiddo Baxter Annakin has decided to "retire" from wrestling his senior year. He as had too many concussions and values his brain more than one more year on the mat.  He has loved wrestling ever since he joined Castle Wrestling Club as an 11-yr old.  It was 100% his decision, which I think is important to mention.  His Mom and I were crushed, but very proud at the same time.  Concussions are a scary thing and not to be taken lightly.  He will be at Castle's matches rooting on his teammates, especially his senior class.  I've become a big wrestling fan as a result of Baxter's involvement in this great sport, and an even bigger fan of Baxter after watching him grow into a fine young man.

It was completely uncovered before, and now Flo covers most events.  Not sure what there is to complain about here?  They arent going to send a crew to a tourney with travel expenses, equipment costs, etc for free.  The same reason the preseason rankings magazine isn't handed out for free by Joe. I feel lucky we have Flo.

Season starts next week. You can’t go to club and workout with other kids from other schools once that starts (Ihsaa rules). You seem to want to get better and that is awesome. For now you need to go to your practices as much as possible. Hit your weight room. Ask your coaches to work with you extra (if they have time). Most importantly... hit the books. Wrestling means nothing if you don’t make the grades. Once your season is over... get back on this thread. There are some great people on here that will be more than happy to help a great student athlete to achieve their goals. I actually used to be the kids director at the iswa. If you are serious and are making the grades, I will help you find resources to get better (call if you would like). But.. until then put your faith and time into your high school program.
