  1. You didn't ask what his credentials were. You asked what year he won, as though that is what would give him license to have an opinion. On that measure there are 14 guys per year who can post here. I defend his right to say stupid stuff because I say stupid stuff.
  2. I'm not a fan of having to state your credentials to have an opinion. Of course, no one knows less about wrestling than I do, so that would naturally be my position. If you want to argue, lets argue. I will make fun of your arguments on occasion (and I did), but you don't need to be an accomplished wrestler to have an opinion on other accomplished wrestlers. I just like to argue. So ignore the guys who say, "Oh yeah, what have you won?" By the way, all I have won is an 8th place ribbon in a middle school intra-mural swim meet, but I do have eyes to see.
  3. I like this story. He may or may not have had what sounds like very little previous experience in wrestling, but either way I dont find it any less impressive. Sure we want the neat movie script version where the nuance and detail are scrubbed away in the name of the story, but life is messy and rarely ever linear. If his career record equals his 2018-19 record, like what was reported during the intro, then that's good enough for me. And even if the two are ever so slightly different, count me still impressed.
  4. Believe me I know how one sided BWI is. It is interesting to keep up on the many ways they have been slighted by Flo, for example, when the largest number of stories are about PSU.
  5. My understanding is Cael Sanderson extended the invite and Brands made noises about doing it, but it has been crickets since. Too late to happen this year. Too bad. Would have loved to see that dual.
  6. Do not discourage this guy. Back Yard Champ is my favorite first grade math poster on this board. He hasn't posted in a while because he and Lavar are playing HORSE out back to see who gets Jordan.
  7. And Lavar Ball thinks he can take Michael Jordan.
  8. You think you are, but you may want to spend a little more time with the books. You should start with set theory as you are clearly mixing up the sets. It probably feels like Indiana is bigger than the nation to you, but you may may be surprised to learn that it is actually a subset of the nation. I think that is covered in the first chapter.
  9. Now that you mention it. Lets call it the Platinum Age of IHSAA. If we expand across weight classes. Mason Parris, Brayton Lee, Joe Lee, Nick Lee, Chad Red, Stevan Micic all overlapping. Wowza. You fans were all very spoiled.
  10. you're not very good with math are you?
  11. But how fortunate were Indiana HS wrestling fans? I don't have a deep knowledge of the history of IHSAA wrestling, but that sure felt like a golden age to have 3 #1s overlapping in the same weight classes.
  12. Good point. Flo has him 19 right now, up from honorable mention. He is moving in the right direction. But not necessarily so. Remember, Lee dropped down in weight (or at least did not move up) in order to seek the match with Red.
  13. How about mini Ditka? I know. Still mini Ditka. And speaking of mustaches, how fantastic was the lip rug sported by the North Central coach? That man was half 'stache. I feel like the mustache grew him, not the other way around.
  14. Which is just another way of saying Mendez again will not wrestle the #1 ranked wrestler in the nation. I agree.
  15. Great question. A couple of things make it so hard to answer. Recency bias will always favor Mendez. We saw it with our own eyes just a few days ago. He was no fluke. Clearly the best wrestler at 126 in the state of Indiana. He did not look like a freshman physically or in his technique. The real deal. On the other hand, lets discuss quality of competition. Mendez beat a defending state champion who is not ranked nationally (at least I couldn't find a rank, correct me if I am wrong) and came in with 2 losses. And that defending state champ was only ranked third in his own state (and finished third, nice job rankers). Lee lost, there is no denying that, but it was to a senior who was ranked #1 in the nation (and still #1 five years later). It is impossible to determine the magnitude difference between the levels of competition, but it must be acknowledged that it is vast. So summing it all up....I have no freakin' idea, but I love the concept. Oh yeah, and I'll take Lee.
  16. Amen. Nomad on Flowrestling has a solution. When doing conference seeding (which impacts NCAA qualification odds) the wrestler who does not appear is treated like it was a lose regardless of the reason for no show. On that basis he would have Vincenzo Joseph seeded third at B1G even though he is undefeated because he did not wrestle against Wick (I think it was Wick). The PSU board was up in arms over the idea, but now that it would help Lee at Carr's expense I imagine they will see the light.
  17. No worries. I appreciate both answers because I genuinely dont know the answer.
  18. Come on. You can do better than that.
  19. After watching the 145 semi between Lee and Graves I am left to wonder about stalling. After reading the NFHS rule there is nothing that explicitly states that spending the majority of the match on all fours is stalling, but it does talk about continuously avoiding contact with the opponent is stalling. It seems to me that spending extended time on all fours is a specific tactic to avoid contact because most offensive moves start with leg attacks. In this match I felt the ref did the cowardly thing by waiting to make the stall call until there was so little time left as to be irrelevant, but to avoid never having made a single stall call in a match that one wrestler seemed to decide to try to get to sudden victory before he got on the mat.
