  1. Also parts of East Central Indiana as well as Northwest & West Central Ohio!
  2. MNEINWGA- Make NorthEast INdiana Wrestling Great Again!
  3. I keep beating a dead horse, but why can't we have the IHSWCA Team State Duals, then a classed IHSAA individual tournament, and end the year with a single class IHSAA individual tournament. Use the classed tournament to help seed the single class. Other states go into March so we aren't breaking new ground in that aspect. Yes our state makes it hard hosting basketball tournaments of all levels, but I'm sure a venue could be found.
  4. Thank you! As mentioned, I have little knowledge on Freestyle & Greco-Roman. I'll take any advice I can get. Just trying to learn & translate what can be used to folkstyle.
  5. No need for that, it is what it is. I'm just tired of seeing this throughout NE Indiana. Bellmont vs AC & SA, AC vs SA, and etc in person. Like I mentioned, no one seems to have answers to my questions. I'm trying to get 3 steps ahead of my quest/far fetched dream. Feel not enough kids are doing off-season folkstyle work, let alone freestyle and Greco-Roman. I just have been exposed to folkstyle but little to 0 freestyle & Greco-Roman. Everything is basically from personal observations.
  6. Can Hendricks County area & Evansville start some internal fights? We need you guys to level the playing field.
  7. Anyway, where do you start learning about FS & GR? How do you take what you learn & apply it to Folk? How do you get those new to Folk interested in FS & GR? I'm not mad, just disappointed on the bickering above as it relates to NE Indiana. We need all hands on deck working together so THE KIDS in OUR AREA get back on top & control the podiums. I have no side in that fight, but it seems like that's why OUR AREA hasn't had the success like others. Too many fighting against each other instead of iron sharpening iron & helping each other improve. Seems like The County & Evansville have learned to come together & dominate along with Crown Point.
  8. @Galagore You seem to be on a better path than the situation I became involved in just across the border in Ohio. The school is major basketball and most of the basketball supporters would love to kill off the wrestling program in its infancy. The youth club was started by the current HS head coach and is maybe 6 to 8 years tops. The MS program just finished year 4 and HS year 3. On the surface it looks all fine & dandy as they've placed respectable in invites and such. Ohio has 3 divisions and 3 phases in their tournament, with the 3rd being state. The HS has had an individual compete in the 2nd phase all 3 years in the smallest division. However this year's Jr stud is contemplating not going out next year due to the HS coach's antics at practice. Orhers that got as far may not either. The MS coach does fine, but he doesn't ever speak up when needed. He has literally one part time helper to coach which brings safety & procedure issues. Then our club issues. HS coach ran off a great Bellmont wrestler that took over the club when HS/MS started. I was just a parent helper that suddenly became club head coach. I wrestled in youth and stopped and then came back late in my HS days at AC. Id be on the list of their worst wrestlers if they have one. I also became the leader right before practices started. Add to the fact I had 1 or 2 people decide to help my first year (last year) with little to no wrestling experience or background. Luckily my stepson was also doing club at AC, so I got our kids into their Friday night fights and learned from Adams, Wells, & Jay's best. HS coach was dead against all of it. This year I replicated last year with more coaching help with at least 1 or 2 guys also with wrestling knowledge. Another negative is the HS, MS, & club share the same mat that is the clubs. Club also can't use the MS/HS wrestling room bc we aren't a school team.
  9. Interesting statistics. So regardless of classed or single class, athletic trends based on these 2 sports only show participation dropping. Oddly enough, the years where there were more participation, the FW SS/Jay County Sectional/Regional had state success. However with less participation that same area is not experiencing as much as accustomed. The statistics would make you hypothesize the opposite happening. So is the decrease mostly from that area & nearby in participation and going out of state, or is it something else? As you mentioned participation is increasing throughout the country though.
  10. Mother nature isn't taking out Evansville's location right now is it? Stay safe down there and prayers for those in the path!
  11. Why I keep pushing for 3 tournaments from the IHSAA/IHSWCA that won't happen. Revamp those Mishawaka, Connersville, Mater Dei, and etc as Classed Individual State tournaments. Have one host 4A, another 3A, another 2A, and finally a 1A. More than likely will need to be a 2 or 3 weekend process with those locations mentioned being the finals. Definitely keep the classed team state duals, then proposed classed individual tournament, and then our current single class individual tournament to wrap the year up.
  12. For once, I will agree with most of what you posted. However the counter argument that both of you made with D1 football athletes. The recruiters aren't going to waste their time in football at least for most 2A & 1A athletes outside of the outliers like Kizer, Bowen, Smith, & Zachary to name a few. Even though they get mostly in state D1 offers compared to those from the 6A & 5A schools that get D1 offers from coast to coast. It's all about individuals doing what they think is best for their kids. Some with Johnny Superstar in 1A will move to the 5A school. Others would rather see their kid get an education with a lower student to teacher ratio while excelling at the lower level. They just have to push harder to get recruiters attention which isn't easy.
  13. Don't forget AC is usually still playing football while many other schools have had a week or many more of practice in wrestling on a yearly basis. Major disadvantage to get to wrestling shape as well as scheduling. That has a higher chance of happening at Bellmont than South Adams or Adams Central due to enrollment and fielding teams for fall & spring sports. I know Bellmont is in a semi rebuild mode instead of their reload mode, but with the more practice time in early fall than the other 2 mentioned, they haven't had a champ since Billy. Yeah Ike made 2 finals recently, but even Bellmont is struggling vs the large schools like Brownsburg, Center Grove, and Crown Point. Of course Carroll FW licks their chops to go after AC as well as SA & Bellmont. Heck their alumni go to Ohio and do the same to a new program bordering 2 of the 3 Adams County schools.
  14. Don't want to get political but maybe the Governor's stance on certain issues could get the NBA to reconsider and move on like they did to Charlotte if I'm not mistaken.
  15. Just got word we are hosting it in Columbus Ohio for 1 year only. IHSAA wants to see how far schools really will travel to look at instituting a new travel rule to put in place. Heard Evansville, West Lafayette, Louisville, St. Louis, & Detroit just missed out!
  16. Yep, not as bullish on the school my stepkids go to school at having a 1st time qualifier at state. Only 3rd year for high school and 4th for middle school as D3 school. They did beat the D3 team dual champs this year at their invite though.
  17. We can have our politicians speak against a protected group and they'll strip Indy from hosting.
  18. We just stay at the houses of the folks who moved down there.
  19. Sounds cheap for you rich NW Allen County folks
  20. I don't think they need ideas. They do the opposite of what we need regardless.
  21. 7 classes in Evansville and 7 classes in FW. Wed-Thurs in Evansville and Fri-Sat Fort Wayne. That's what the IHSAA would love but know they wouldn't get away with.
  22. Lol. I like the Jay County people involved in wrestling and others. I have to be careful because I work in Adams, Wells, and Jay Counties. Yes, we have a name for Jay County besides its actual name and refers to the state you mentioned. There are some areas in southern Adams & Wells County where the dialect changes if you know what I mean. Definitely anything south of Indy is referred to as Northern Kentucky up here .
  23. Yes, I'm trying to figure something out for my youth kids in Ohio. I'd love to get some of the Indiana coaches to get their hands on them. Think they'd realize what I've learned from those guys is what I'm trying to teach them.
