    Wish the IHSAA would let The Berne Witness webcast Friday night and Saturday up until the finals. I will listen to the radio broadcast, but really like to watch the Witness webcasts.

    They should have 6 people on set for this production. Have to have Rakestraw & Goebel as the hosts to keep it on track and then put one rep from each SS on it. Have to have a Region rep for EC, The County rep for EV, someone to rep for NC, and someone from the #1 County to rep FW.

    If keeping the same, why not keep 32 sectionals, reduce regionals to 8 sites, and 2 semi state sites (you know actually have it be a semi state and not quarter state). Each basically having 16 wrestlers (if we had 320 teams would be 10 at sectional time) with wrestle backs to 3rd place match at each event. This makes the top 8 on the podium already at state battling it out. If you want 16 at state, then take the top 8 from semi state.

    Which week are you changing to make this work better? Regional would be about the only one that would work currently.

    We should have wrestle backs to 3rd in every event of the state series. This shouldn't even be a question. Adding another week makes that much easier.

    Tough situation that hopefully brings better changes to our sport. Unfortunately for Mr. Beeks he had to pay that price. This is why wrestling is a great sport for our kids. In life there will be bigger problems and unfortunate events that occur than just losing a match like this. I believe Beeks will be fine and become an outstanding role model for others. I think this situation should bring officiating and tournament changes. There has been some negativity and probably rightly so in this thread, but let's make it a positive. Let's get this so that officiating can get better at signals and that everyone knows the situation. Let's get tournaments better so that we have wrestle backs at every stage of the state tournament. I don't care if it takes an extra week. I don't care if Ohio has 3 classes instead of one, but they have wrestle backs at state and it can be done. I'd push like heck to add another week of the tournament so that there are 8 man wrestle back brackets at sectional, additional week I'm calling districts, regionals, semi state, and state. Remember our season is over a month before basketball. Bobby is leaving, so let's pounce on this!

    No if there is going to be only one individual tournament. Yes if it becomes a separate tournament in addition to the single class individual tournament.

    Either Yorktown or Adams Central (hopefully Currie doesn't let that happen, but the ticket round will be tough).

    Either 106 or 182 would be my gut feeling. Wouldn't count out 170 or 220 though.

    What would be the thoughts of adding an additional week of the tournament to get wrestle backs at each round? Say you put a "District" round between Sectionals and Regionals. Keep the Sectionals current as reducing down from 300+ (theoretically) to 128. Districts being the current regionals of 128 to 64. Then Regionals 64 to 32 and Semis State 32 to 16 and then 16 to 1 at State. All rounds having wrestle backs to 3rd. Lose the 1st match Friday at state earns you another Friday night match (start it earlier is my preference as the wait sucks) or early Saturday morning match before being eliminated.

    Thanks, I thought that was the way. Doesn't make sense that we can wrestle back for sectionals and not the regional and so forth. Especially when only 8 wrestlers a weight class are there.

    Am I wrong, but they do not do wrestle backs at Regional correct, or has that changed?

    Once the price question is answered, where is the best place in your house to put a section of mat. The living room was already vetoed. Garage? Basement?

    I think everyone else has caught up and has the mentality that was in this area during those times. Wonder how much of it is due to many good athletes going off to college in other parts of the state or other states and not coming back. The bloodlines then go to different regions creating success? It seems more people around here are trying to move to Hamilton, Marion, Hendricks, and portions of Boone Counties. Then our smaller schools lose some to our bigger schools like Northwest Allen and Southwest Allen, but not as much as the others.

    Maybe if 2 or 3 in a row happens. Find a way to improve the IHSAA's success factor in that they only move up for 1 year and not two?

    Your reasoning is why I'd have both. Smaller 1A schools with not much history could aim for a class system individual champ. 1A teams with success could strive for a single class champ. Teams like AC work towards the class team duals and the MD, PM, CP, and etc could work for the old single class dual. Still could track like the IHSAA does for state like now for both systems.

    Will there be a success factor like the IHSAA for classes 1 to 3?

    I'm asking as my step daughter has been practicing with her club in Ohio. Their club is newer and this is her fist full year with them. Last year she joined late after basketball since it was her brother's first year with the club and our first experience with them but not enough practice to do any matches. Currently her club is doing tournaments that are mostly boys, but a few girls. We will let her participate, though she is at a disadvantage for her age. Many of the boys she will be having to wrestle will have much more experience plus she is on the lighter side, so my guess will be that she will possibly have to wrestle up. She is still a work in progress in learning the moves but doesn't have it really down yet. My fear is that she will get severely discouraged and want to quit the sport. I see potential that just needs a little more time. I think it would be easier for her to handle if she could also wrestle other girls her age and possibly weight to keep her confidence. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Being involved with the youth football for AC & Bellmont, we were surprised that Bellmont started to have better numbers and actually competed with the AC teams. In fact one of their teams won the regular season and the other team surprised and finished runner-up in the tournament. Maybe the 2A title will help the situation for them. The number of split families and one parent households for Bellmont is much more and I think that is part of it. The culture in some sports isn't there with the parents. Adams, Wells, and Jay to extent have a hard time keeping our college grads around. Most move towards Carmel, Fishers, Noblesville, and etc if not completely out of state.

    Said this a million times, but we need the IHSAA and IHSWCA to join forces even more than right now. Like posted above, they need to get rid of the schedule limits so that you can have single class individual & classed individual tournaments and team dual tournaments. 4 tournaments to get more wrestling in and hone the craft of our best teams and individuals. Not sure if we start earlier or same time as other states, but I know Ohio ends a month later. Why not have the classed individual tournaments and classed team dual tournaments in early to mid January and treat them like Al Smith's, Mater Dei event, and other big individual & dual tournaments? Then have the single class dual tournament in February and single class individual tournament in March?

    Is this the year that 1A doesn't go to AC or PH? AC is young this year so I'd give PH the edge, but didn't know if there was a team to shake it up this year?

    They must have combined the Red & White at Wayne Trace I'm assuming. They had all of the answers the last 2 rounds. Crestview had been rolling and then got thumped pretty hard. AC was hanging tough in what was the unattended championship crossover match. Then Wauseon brought the heat and it was over with. I see on Yappi where they are advertising offseason work all the time. There coaches & fans were really into the matches which is good to see. Hopefully that can translate to Crestview & Parkway's newer teams in the future.

    At least they are covering high school wrestling in our area. Yes, it can get frustrating on the homer aspect, but AJ & Rex have earned it in a way. I like watching the sectionals, regionals, & semi state on the webcast personally. Heck I may put the radio on this year to have background. Wish the IHSAA would let them webcast Friday night and Saturday up until the finals where it can then be watched on FS Indiana.
