Ugh, that's horrible... Such a great guy, wrestler, and coach.  I'm glad I had even a little time to be around him. 

Our hearts go out to the Pingletons.  Charlie was a great wrestler, coach, and person.  He is missed (dearly) by the wrestling community.

This is very sad to say the least. Being from Putnam county we all know each other very well. He touched a lot of people. Peyton and I will always have good thoughts of this man! He fought the good fight like we all would hope we could. Prayers go out to a big Pingleton family and especially the boys. This is a huge loss. 

Your boy is related to my fiance Rachel..we met at Folkstyle state this year actually!

Man this is so sad..One of the best to never win it imho and was true warrior vs that sick disease Cancer.. My heart goes out to his family..Indiana wrestling lost a real legend. 

Just think how tough Shenandoah would be with Slivka and the other 2 kids that moved.

Pretty Nasty !

I'm not going to make any predictions, but man I'm ready for these matches to happen NOW! Should be a great day for wrestling. 

In a major way. Multiple school records/firsts in a VERY short amount of time. Advancing 11 of 13 weight classes filled (with 8 in the finals) is a pretty impressive accomplishment for a school of any size, let alone a 1A.

Gary Black Jr and Gary Black Sr at Shenandoah have really upped the program.

The real wrestling season starts this weekend with everyone's post season record of 0-0.
May you wrestle to the highest level you are capable of and free of any injury or illness.
I have seen great wrestlers choke and not get out of sectionals. Some have missed weight and done.
I also have seen .500 wrestlers catch fire and make it down to state.
It is your time to shine.
It would be neat to have a big bracket board that starts with all the sectionals and end up with the final sixteen at State Finals. Why should March Madness be the only one to have it?
Maybe some high tech fellow fan could put it together and post here.
It would really show how huge of an accomplishment getting to state in our one class system.

I’m one of the biggest banterers that I know; the officials are like I have to listen to this guy all day long. But with aging officiating crews and with very little incoming officials it falls back on the coaching staff. We need to be pushing our graduating seniors to become officials. Keep complaining about the ones we have and that will put us in a worse spot than we already are in. I hear they are short for sectionals as it is now and are out trying to get a few more officials to fill the ranks. There are a lot of 4 year high school wrestlers that don't continue on wrestling in college that would be perfect candidates to start building up the ranks. Just a thought!

In my humble opinion, I believe there should always be an american flag present for youth events. I agree Danny w the service point you made. My thinking is the lessons trying to be instilled in regards to country. Every soul in the gym was looking for one...

Wrestling was great. Tournament workers were great. Parking was great. It did not bother the kids who were wrestling. However, it was the the all time worst for viewing. Had to get up and race around the field house like every other spectator trying to see a match. There was no American Flag in the field house for the National Anthem. The concession stand was in another gym upstairs hidden from everyone. The awards were presented behind the seating. You could not view the awards unless you got up and ran around the bleachers. Anyone who wanted to see their kid wrestle got to see the match up close to the mat, which was great. I think in the future you are not allowed to host this tournament if you have a home Basketball game on the same date. Even if it is a later time than the tournament. ZV coaches and workers did their best. What they could control, they did well.

Other than that it was a great day of wrestling action from all schools.

It can not be worse than hearing the Region pound its chest every year.  I figure that if you wish to put your team out there, be prepared to prove it, or prepared to hear about not living up to "potential."
