  1. So how has the transition been to college for this stud HS grappler out of Lowell HS which has represented the region and state well with getting some of our athletes into great wrestling schools Refresh my memory did CC go to a big 10 school? Michigan St is in my head for some reason maybe because fellow Red Devil stud Drew Hughes wrestles for the Spartans.
  2. I live in Jasper County and I am a region rat through and through. I live about ten miles from the Kankakee River. Many of the residents of the Kankakee Valley area work in Lake or Porter. Rensselaer...whoever wants you guys can have ya. Except Ricks Pizza. The region will annex that
  3. Would also love to see Crown Point in the mix here. They certainly have a shot at being 2nd in the DAC next winter and that's no small feat.
  4. First off if you try and call Fred Jones Field "the farm", a small part of me dies inside. We refer to our southern neighbors ss Renssltucky, and our northwest neighbors as Cedartucky. My Wheatfield home is nestled in the middle of I-65 and SR 49 so click my heels a few times snd I'm up in Duneland Country. That being said... These 33 year old heels click slow. To make it to any Duneland conference town in under 30 minutes would mean a couple traffic infractions possibly a misdemeanor. We're closer to an Indiana Beach sign "there's more than corn in Indiana!" than we are to a Taco Bell. A won't comment any further on that it upsets me a bit too much. For some reason the Southern accent starts in Jasper County once you cross 400 W...which is not really germaine to my point here but nontheless seemed important to note. So...noted. I am so tired of people talking about the local ice cream shop like it's some revelation. It's freaking ice cream...that s*** is delicious. It's good everywhere. Also still hold myself in high esteem for snagging that 5th place. As my friend Kevin used to say... "That's what I like about me."
  5. So out of nowhere in the pick the top 8 competition tied for 5th? Out of relative anonymity? (Gratuitously pats self of back)
  6. Sorry fellas I doubt any ladies tuned in tonight but great show anyway.
  7. 106 is gonna be fun too The Frontier Falcons representing here with Colin Reagan. I think he can get past Rodriguez but it will be tighter than records indicate. Diaz and Moran should cruise but you never overlook a ticket round match. I expect to see both at their best. Alexander v Cruz will be a good battle as well.
  8. 195 should be a good ticket round to watch especially the bottom of the bracket. Fowler v Donovan Ford v Schoonveld I like it!
  9. Eager to see how Walendzak bounces back after a tough loss to a good wrestler. Not a huge upset in my opinion Gavin Rose is gonna keep moving up the rankings into the top 8 or so within the next few weeks.
  10. Darn...K Valley moves up to 3a. They are building a decent program, not too many seniors this year so look for KV to move up the respectability chain. And how long before Rockville and Turkey Run officially combine schools? What will the buildings be used for exactly? I had Riverton Parke in there but that's not right, separate Parke county school system correct?
  11. Yeah I was just wondering what some of the biggest middle schools were. Is there a cap on how big it can be?
  12. Wow Perry has one middle school? That must be a huge school!
  13. Well then Nilson was a beast as well. I missed your comment, no disrespect to the Winamac wrestler
  14. Tommy Cash's is particularly special me because of the weight because the five other newest entries are 195 and up. This is the lowest weight class to do it for 80 some years. Kinda cool
  15. Who's this kid that beat Colton Cummings @ 120 that was on Perry Meridians JV squad. Might be an up and comer that's a quality win.
  16. Wow about Brownsburg...is that the only sport that uses that gym? That's gotta be nice. Kankakee Valley has a wrestling room above the old middle school gym. When I wrestled in middle school we always used the upper deck of the main gym when the bleachers werent pulled out. The school built a stand alone middle school and I have not seen that room. The high school room had 1 2/3 mats I believe when I was there (I'm 30) and a few weight benches and a four way weight training machine. We HS wrestlers used to hate when the basketball teams would have home games and the bleachers pulled out. Wheel barrows and buddy carries were endless! Good ol former KV coach Walt Prochno... One of the best KV has ever had in any sport.
  17. Haha I chucked at my work desk watching that two second clip
  18. These weight classes are close together for a reason, they clearly are all dominant wrestlers. Red is a junior I mean how much bigger is he going to get? As OTR mentioned Likely to see all three go up a weight class but 120 had some good wrestlers in there ill be interested to see where all those kids land
  19. Tyler Mills caught fire and had an awesome state tournament, he just ran into a buzz saw named Cummings. Shame Brayton Lee lost in SS he seemed to be on the precipice of a big year. What grade will he be in next year?
  20. Well hard To bet against Hughes either really. If you haven't been able to see this kid wrestle I promise you he is something special. With all due respect to Jacob Gray of Delta it will be an upset if anyone knocks out Hughes.
  21. Colton Cummings, Nick Lee, Chad Red, Dylan Lydy are my picks to click.
  22. Garpow stood out to me and my buddy who were at the SS as well, we found ourselves rooting for the kid after he turned the tables on Guerrero of Portage and pinned him. Don't remember the score but I believe Guerrero was winning. And the 6-5 loss to Osborn was so close I felt for the kid. He responded by devastating Kleimola in the 3rd place match needing just 57 seconds
  23. I've heard a lot of people predicting Egli upsetting Black. Brendan Black is wrestling as well as anyone right now and all three losses are to Reitz who would still be number one if Black hadnt handed him three losses of his own. Egli is going to have to wrestle a near perfect match to knock out Black.
  24. Streck pinned his was to a SS title with the first three matches not getting out of the first. Cory Christman of Penn was able to last to the 2:53 mark before getting stuck.
  25. I think Hudkins is the only 120 from Evansville that's even a favorite in my eyes. I could see Hatch maybe losing but Black and Reitz are at another level and they proved it at SS. I think Egli will have his hands full with three loss Black, which all came from Reitz. But Black has won the last two matches
