  1. Why are you guys so set on classing and not open to comprimise? If we increase the qualifiers for state wouldn't this alos give more motivation to smaller schools? Like you say yeah it might not effect the numbers in a year or two but what about 10-20 years down the road like classing?
  2. I wasn't saying classing is extreme. I was saying we are willing to go to extreme measures to make the sport better in Indiana. I'm saying your goal with classing is to grow the sport. But by classing we oppose it because we don't see a NEED for it in order to grow the sport. It causes us to lose the special tourney we have in indiana. There are other things we can do to grow the sport that wont effect our state tourney...
  3. Obviously all of us. If we are willing enough to argue about classing wrestling on this stupid computer for 27 pages i think it shows there are people willing to go to extreme measures to make wreslting better in the state. Classed or not. Well thats like only half a team. Lets get EMD to go back down to 1A and we could be there already... But classing wrestling isn't the only way to grow the sport. Maybe we should look at other options besides just classing and not classing because it's pretty clear at this point the two sides arent going to come together..
  4. But do you think it has "Closed the gap" like you stated your goal was eariler in the thread? Or are their 3A wrestlers still way better than their 1A wrestlers like what is apparently so devistating to Indianas wrestling scene?
  5. Mine will... I have 3 different school districts that pick up right outside my front door. Talk about options galore! Lol well you know what they say.. Once you go ____ you never go back.
  6. Thanks for clearing that up Mr. Math So i guess we need to get what 2 more 1A kids a year to place and we can make up that 50%?
  7. So you think if we classed wrestling for 20 years and then suddenly unclassed it that we could increase the placers that 6% we are lacking now? Becuase to me it wouldn't do anything. 3A wrestling would now be even MORE dificult than before and they would STILL have to out train 1A kids in order to be a state placer...
  8. So we are about 7% off.. Could we simply offer RTCS at these small schools? Could we fund raise at the state event to support year round clubs at these small schools? Could we offer special national events for these small school wrestlers to go compete in? There are lots of differnt ways we can give more motivation for small school wrestlers that are already dedicated to the sport reach the podium.
  9. and we are a few percent from being at that 13% maybe if we simply offer money to these schools to start wrestling clubs year round we could give them the "motivation" needed to get kids to work harder in the off season? I'm not disagreeing that the PLACERS number is slightly off but i don't agree that classing wrestling is the BEST way to solve this problem. It is ONE way try to fix it but would have more issues that other EASIER fixes...
  10. And the fact of the matter he is simply working harder or longer... which is what you don't belive in. You stated before kids in small schools shouldnt give up other sports. Kids at small schools are already working hard and so on... Yet now you say they need to dedicate more time (Work Harder) in order to become elite... Which is what we have been saying the whole time...This is the students choice. They all know if they want it they Is being the "ONLY" state chapion at your weight class not enough motivation?
  11. You obviously can't follow along with his logic... Whether it's because you truly don't understand it or just don't want to. Just take a minute and walk in his shoes and try to see the other side of the arguement. It might help you prove your point even better.
  12. I'm sorry I shouldn't sound so condescending. I just want to put this out there again I completely respect your opinions and truly appreciate the fact you are putting this much time and effort into making the sport better. Whether i agree with you or not wrestling is an amazing sport and taught me many great life lessons. Hell it made me the person i am today. Thanks for your hard work and dedication to the sport!
  13. So they are becoming more specialized and taking away from the other sports like you were completely against a few pages ago?
  14. So if your goal by classing wrestling is to make the state as a whole better at wrestling wouldn't it become even more necessary that kids become one sport athletes because now its even more difficult than before to be elite?
  15. Lol no i completely agree if you want to be elite you have to put in the dedication... Big school or small... and like you have said at small schools because of various reasons they do not do this... but classing wrestling wont increase the time that kids with dreams of being elite will spend wrestling.... those kids are already doing it... I'm saying that at one point you say this "work harder" mentality is stupid but at the same time you agree thats what it takes to be elite
  16. this would be logical... they have also talked themselves into pretty much saying if small school kids want to go to state they need to dedicate more off season time to wrestling. By "extra motivation" in their terms or "hard work" in ours... But it DOES
  17. Lol extra motivation call it whatever you want but the fact of the matter is they are wrestling more than they were before which is working harder lol
  18. But classing wrestling won't give small kids any more free time in the summer specialize. Which we agreed is needed and simply sounds like your saying they need to work harder...
  19. So are you saying small school kids will just have to work harder with this new off season wrestling and training? That's what it sounds like to me when you talk about tourneys camps and things to that nature?
  20. This is just your opinion tho. I didn't graduate too long ago and I can say I liked the fact I had to beat every other kid in the state to be the best. If it would have classes while I was in school it would have taken something away from that acheivment. I obviously still would have been happy but it just wouldn't have been the same... That's also just my opinion... But they can also be presented in a fashion to go for or against any arguement you choose... But agreed they are better...
  21. So how will class wrestling help them concentrate on one sport? It won't help our state get BETTER at wrestling... Just more average wrestlers Because they still won't be specialized...
  22. So your saying those kids are only elite in wrestling because they specialize? Can't small school kids do the same thing of they choose to? So since we can now agree on this I think your only logical arguement is to increase the student population at smaller schools. Because even by classing wrestlin. Those smaller schools still won't have BETTER wrestlers because they will still play multiple sports... We may have more average or new wrestlers but not "quality in depth" as you speak of...
  23. With this example though we are talking about a TEAM. We are not saying who would have the very fastest chicken out of all of them. Your smaller group could very well have the fastest chicken out of all of them
  24. Ok bet me on this then... you can have 10,000 chickens and i can have 150,000 chickens in our farms... You get to pick 700 of your chickens to run in a race and i will pick just 100 of mine... Of course this is after we have raised our chickens and had practice races with these chickens and sorted through to find our fastest chickens out of the options we have on the farm... I would bet you $1000 dollars that if i have 150,000 chickens to find just 100 fast ones out of that i would have more placers in the race... Would you take me up on this bet? Because that is what you guys are asking... In fact if i use enrollment data from joes page there are ~70k 1A kids enrolled in those schools and ~230k students in 2A schools... so really you could have 70k chickens and i will now have 230k... But obviously just like student populations some will be girls that wont compete, some wont like running, some will like it but just wont be good enough to make varsity and so on. Just like what happens on the wrestling team...
