  1. 1986 - 132 lbs - (???? time) - Miles Nilson - Winamac
  2. Also -I believe 2015 had the fewest senior champions (5) or most non-senior champions ever (or at least as far back as I could find): Champs by grade: Fr: 0 So: 2 (106, 132) Jr: 7 (120, 126, 145, 160, 195, 220, 285) Sr: 5 (113, 138, 152, 170, 182) Which should set-up next year for the most returning state champs (Let's hope OH, KY or Apple Valley don't steal them)...
  3. Miles Nilson - Winemac 1986, had all pins. Not sure of the times Impressive - that means it happened 3xs before Saturday and then 3xs in the same finals, 2 of the 3 could do it again next year...
  4. Objectively defining "Dominating" it is Rypel (unless I have made an error) A fall is the most dominant win (rewarded with the most points) Cash Rypel Streck Falls without giving up an offensive point > falls after giving up offensive points. I don't recall Rypel or Streck giving up any offensive points, but I may be wrong; Cash gave up 2 take downs prior to pinning Lee Rypel Streck Then it comes down to pin in the least amount of time: Rypel (1:02, :42, 1:46, 3:13; 6:43 total mat time) Streck (3:34, 1:20, 4:27, 5:34; 13:55 total mat time) This of course changes if I am wrong about Streck or Rypel giving up an offensive point)
  5. In all honesty - I would love to see this match-up at a national event (especially in the finals) rather than at the IHSAA tournament. I just think it is better for Indiana and would bring in more recruiting to have easily recognizable dominant wrestlers (3-4x champs). Especially ones that crush it at the national level, like Lee and Red.
  6. I believe during Cash's interview he was asked about being only the 5th (maybe 4th) State champ that pinned all four opponents in the finals. I don't know if that stat was correct or if I even heard it correct, but seems bizarre if it is true, that 3 wrestlers did it this year (2 juniors)... Can anyone confirm? It seems that an argument could be made for 2015 state champs as being the most dominant as a whole...
  7. Have we learned nothing from Micheal Vick...
  8. Micic was ranked 1st in the nation last year but definitely did not have the most "lopsided" performance of the tournament last year. Just sayin' As for Interesting Friday Night Match-ups 182 - Andrew Davison v Conner James... Got to be close to the most interesting, #3 v #4 - both have only lost to 1 other wrestler year combined record of 82-3 brutal draw here....
  9. Everything considered I think the worst trick of fate for this years ticket round: Merrillville 160: #3 Schurg (CP) v #5 Sopko (Hobart) Both have wrestled at the field house 2x, both previous state placers (Shurg 2x including finalist last year), state ranked ranked 3rd and 5th, both only have 2 losses on season. Both are seniors that have had stellar high school careers, which for me, is what really separates this ticket round from others.
  10. This post got me thinking about the 125-126 weight class. I am pretty sure that over the last 12 years 9 state champs at 125/126 ended their careers with at least 2 state championships. I doubt any other weight class comes close.
  11. Are all of the York Town's wrestling team Heistand's (current and from the last 5-6 years) brothers?
  12. Wow great for Brownsburg! Working with the academies all around Indy will be a great resource for him, and a good way to attract quality kids to Brownsburg. As well as keep quality kids in Brownsburg.
  13. How long has Synder been coaching at Brownsburg? I totally missed this.
