Agree on Riley Lefever. My son Owen wrestled with him at Wabash. Owen made it to Nationals his freshman year in (2017 placing 7th All-American) and Riley was going for his 4th Title that year. He was 35-3 and had only lost to D1 wrestlers (but beaten more than he lost to). I have never to this day seen a more dominant wrestler. We just knew he was going to win every match. Coming into the Championship bout we needed Riley to pin his guy for us to get 3rd as a Team. He went out and looked like he wanted to enjoy the moment for a period then he pinned his guy in the second period and Wabash was 3rd ahead of Johnson & Wales 62.5 to 61.5. Just an incredible accomplishment for him and the whole Wabash team and fans. What was even better was at the after party, as the fans and coaches and wrestlers were having the time of our lives and passing the NCAA Team trophy around, I found Riley and my other son Easton, then 11 years old, in the corner of the restaurant talking at a table about wrestling. Riley was asking Easton about his recent tournament and asking him how many take downs he had and how many points he scored. Not just a great wrestler but a great human being!!!

Another one to add is Justin Atkinson. He didn't go to state in high school but was a two time All American at Indiana Tech.
I can attest my shoulders still hurt from wrestling him.

Alex Barr. Made it to state once and placed 6th as a senior. Ended up being a 2X d3 qualifier one being Covid year and placed 3rd his senior year pinning Kris Rumph in the process

A lot of the sectional seeding arguments begin because we have only two sectionals going into our regionals, making sectional results definitive in their impact on regionals since there is no draw factor.
2/3 at regionals/semistate is pretty similar in next stage, but 2/3 at sectionals is drastically different at regionals due to the weird 1/3 semi match up.I agree. we ran into it at a few weights last year. We came in with 5 or 6 losses and had beat the 2 seed but got caught and lost a head to head with the 4 seed so head to head was basically thrown out and went off win percentage. Some of these teams wrestle a significantly weaker schedule than us and the kid that beat us out for the 2 seed had like a .04 better win percentage than us and we beat him the last 3 yrs. We had 3-4 weights where our kid was a semi state level guy but ended up on the same side as the champ at sectionals so we took 3rd and drew into a tough match. I’m in no way advocating for using the proposed method of seeding but for some of these deeper weight classes the seeding matters. For the record one of our kids was ranked 5th in the semi state and was the 5 seed and placed third. Never got to wrestle the 2 seed. The other I’m thinking of was the 4 seed and got third. Both were capable of getting second and having a much better draw at regionals but wrestled the champ in semis but both did outwrestle their seed.

We are at the same regional as norwell. They came out with 3 placers we came out with 5 they had 2 third placers and a 4th we had 3 2nd place finishers and 2 thirds. Two of our runner ups were seniors. Take those out and we still have a runner up and two thirds from regionals while they have a 3rd and two fourths. Yet they are in 16th and we aren’t in the top 25? We also came into regionals with more kids than them so I’m not understanding how they are scoring way ahead of us

Yorktown is 2A and we wrestle a pretty tough schedule especially the front half of the year. We had 8 losses this year and 6 of them were to 3A and 4A schools. The other two were 2A team state teams in Norwell and Jay County. This year was better for seeding for us than last year. Strength of schedule plays a huge part in your record and we have been on the losing end of that a few times at the seeding meeting the last couple years. I will give an example that could have turned out very poorly.
Wrestler A was the 1 seed with 3 losses as a returning state qualifier
Wrestler B was the 2 seed with a 12-0 record
Wrestler C was the 3 Seed with 6 losses 1 coming to the 1 seed and 1 coming to the kid who beat the 1 seed twice.
Had wrestler A not been a returning state qualifier we would have been the 3 seed with the actual 1 seed being the 2 so we would have met in the semi-finals.
We wrestled the undefeated wrestler in the semis and won 15-1.
Not dogging on the undefeated kid at all as he beat everyone in front of him but I think strength of schedule needs to play a factor or at least making it so some of the competition has to have opponents within the sectional

Doesn’t have to do with yesterdays results but Joey Clines page says he has a loss to Cornewell from Dwenger but he didn’t wrestle him his brother Jayden did

I agree with this. If kids nationals can have a brick in every corner what’s the harm in having it for these matches that are significantly more important?
